About Waddesdon Manor

Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885 to display his collection of arts and to entertain the fashionable world.

Opened to the public in 1959, Waddesdon Manor is managed by the Rothschild Foundation, a family charitable trust, on behalf of the National Trust, who took over ownership in 1957. It’s home to the Rothschild Collections of paintings, sculpture and decorative arts.

Getting to Waddesdon Manor

Waddesdon Manor is just off the A41 between Bicester and Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire.

For Sat Nav users the postcode is HP18 0JH. The main visitor entrance is via Silk Street. By car take the A34 towards Bicester, then follow A41 towards Aylesbury.

There is a 1,000 space visitor car park with dedicated places for Blue Badge holders and family parking. On arrival you’ll be directed to the Welcome Pavilion.

Special parking arrangments may apply during events and busy periods. Please see the Waddesdon Manor website or follow any YELLOW EVENT SIGNS and directions from the team.

Opening times

The House and Grounds are open each week Wednesday to Sunday from 10.00am to 5.00pm with last admission at 3.00pm. Advance booking is essential. Please see latest information by visiting the website.

Good to know

  • Picnics: You may bring your own food to enjoy in the grounds
  • Dogs: Dogs are part of the family and are allowed up as far as the Stables. Please keep dogs on leads at all times and use the dog map to see where dogs are allowed in the grounds.
  • Walks: Waddesdon has five different walks taking in different aspects of the gardens or wider estate. The walking routes are not signposted so we suggest you use an online navigation for three of the walks, or download the walks map in advance.
