About Lendy Cowes Week 2018
A key part of the British sporting summer calendar since 1826, Cowes Week is one of the UK’s longest running and most successful sporting events. It now stages up to 40 daily races for around 1,000 boats and is the largest sailing regatta of its kind in the world.
The event offers a great mix of competitive sailing and social activities. There are around 8,500 competitors ranging from Olympic and world class professionals to weekend sailors, and over 100,000 spectators come to watch the sailing, enjoy the parties and live entertainment, and experience the unique atmosphere
One of the best locations to watch the starts ashore each morning is undoubtedly the area between the Castle of the Royal Yacht Squadron and the cannons – as long as you don’t mind the loud bangs! Racing is scheduled to start at 10 am every day. The Green and The Parade are great places to view the action and spectators also now have a number of fantastic opportunities to go afloat.
In addition, there will be a number of Official Lendy Cowes Week Shoreside venue located on the waterfront and around the town centre like Cowes Yacht Haven, Cowes Parade and Shepards Marina. Alternatively head for the Lendy Cowes Week Lawn Lounge Bar at the iconic Northwood House.
The provision of shoreside activities is managed by privately-owned businesses and not the regatta organisers.
The Lendy Cowes Week 2018 takes place from 04 to 11 August 2018.
