About Christmas at the Castle
The most wonderful time of the year is coming to Oxford Castle & Prison!
Not only is there a festive Santa’s Grotto experience at Christmas at the Castle, but throughout the whole of December, the daytime Guided Tours will be led by costumed guides with lantern light.
Santa is coming to town! Meet Father Christmas and enjoy some fun festive activities. The Castle Elves will welcome you to the ‘South Pole’, our winter wonderland. Each family will be individually taken to the ‘North Pole’ to meet Santa in his grotto, and not to mention, take some photos with him too!
In this one hour experience, you will:
- Meet Santa and spend some quality time with him.
- Children will receive a printed photo of them with Santa in his Grotto.
- Listen to a Christmas story told by Santa.
- Sing a Christmas carol with Santa.
- Write a letter to Santa and post it in the post box.
- Decorate a Christmas ornament.
- Receive a Festive Bag that you can keep. Containing:
- Snacks to eat whilst doing the activities (Vegetarian friendly).
- A toy.
- Certificate to say you have made it to the ‘Nice List’.
Santa’s grotto booking information
Children ticket includes:
One printed photo with Santa, a cuddly toy, decorating a Christmas ornament to take home, activities, snacks and juice.
Adult ticket includes:
Partaking in the experience with your child, snacks, tea/coffee and a ticket for a Guided Tour of Oxford Castle & Prison to be taken by 31 March 2022.
PLEASE NOTE: If booking with family or friends, please ensure that you order under one booking to guarantee that you will be seated at the same table. Each group will be at their own table in the ‘South Pole’, and you can book a maximum of 6 people per table.

Lantern led tours
Discover 1,000 years of history by lantern light this Christmas Season!
Throughout December, all of the daily tours will be led by lantern light!
Enjoy a guided tour with a warming touch this winter at Oxford Castle & Prison. From 01 to 31 December, they will be dimming the lights, and their costumed guides will be leading the tours by lanterns.
