HanFEST 2022 main act at 8.00pm – Red Box

Red Box first hit the headlines in the 1980s with a world-flecked sound that brought Tribal Pop to the airwaves well before the term ‘World Music’ was coined.

Their ambitious and eclectic debut album ‘The Circle and the Square’ (1986) put them firmly on the musical map, delivering two global hits in ‘Lean on Me (ah-li-ayo)’ and ‘For America’. In the intervening years, ‘The Circle and the Square’ and the second album ‘Motive’ attained cult status.

In 2011 Red Box returned with their third and critically acclaimed album ‘Plenty’, which provided a string of chart hits in Europe and established a solid touring base. The band released their fourth and most recent studio album, ‘Chase The Setting Sun’, in 2020.
