About Moonrakers at Waterperry Gardens
Enjoy an early evening concert of folk songs and tunes by Moonrakers in the fabulous open air amphitheatre at Waterperry Gardens. Bring a picnic for an extended interval, drinks will be available at the bar.
Much-toured 4-piece band, Moonrakers (harp, cello, stringed instruments, whistles, female/male vocals) bring you songs and tunes from the English, Irish and Scottish tradition as well as their own compositions, they’ve been described as “startlingly talented” (Oxford Times), with five albums of “exquisite music”(BBC) and “truly wonderful” (Wycombe Festival) performances.
Their albums have received glowing reviews in the music press (“The real deal”, The Living Tradition; “Uplifting, sensitively crafted songs and tunes” FATEA magazine).
Moonrakers is an Oxford-based group of four musicians who pride themselves in having brought traditional and contemporary folk music to new audiences in village halls, churches, arts centres and festivals across the UK.
The fact that the band “just OOZES quality” (Living Tradition) is down to the careful arrangements and selection of tunes and songs, presenting “exquisite music” (BBC). The material is a combination of traditional Irish, Scottish, Welsh and English music and their own contemporary songs and tunes, still very much ‘in the idiom’.
