About Oxford Proms – Classics from Handel to Schubert

Celia Redgate (flute)
Edmund Jones (violin)
Oxford Proms Orchestra
Catherine Underwood (conductor)

  1. Arrival of The Queen of Sheba from ‘Solomon’ – George Frideric Handel
  2. Concerto for flute and orchestra No 2 in D K 314 – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  3. Romance for Violin and Orchestra No 1 in G major Op 40 – Ludwig van Beethoven
  4. Symphony No 5 in B flat D 485 – Franz Schubert

Oxford Proms Orchestra’s principal flautist is the soloist in Mozart’s Flute Concerto in D, a piece packed with cheerful melodies and most suited for live music in these challenging times.

Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, Beethoven’s lyrical Romance and Schubert’s evergreen Symphony No 5 make up the programme of classical masterworks.
