Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival 2020
Friday 20 November - Sunday 22 November
About Oxford's Christmas Light Festival 2020
Oxford's Christmas Light Festival 2020 is a 3-day festival of Arts, Culture and Community.
Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival 2020 will be bringing activity out from the city centre into the residential areas of our local oxford communities with creativity that spills out of people’s houses and streets.
The words of inspiration for this year’s festival are:
- real life heroes
- the light that moves us forward
- build back better
- green recovery
- new beginnings
- my community
- being thankful.
Starting in 2009 as a single evening with a lantern parade at its heart, the festival now takes place over 3 days and includes light and sound installations, a festive market, music, dance and lots of free activities in venues across the city. The festival organisers are passionate about bringing free cultural experiences into the city centre for all to enjoy.
Hotspots in of activity in 2019 included Broad Street’s Christmas market, Gloucester Green’s live dance stage, magical installations in the Castle Quarter and Westgate Oxford into the mix as the lantern parade weaved through new spaces as well as historic ones.
There will be lots of resources to help people get involved so do visit the festival’s dedicated Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival website to find out more about how to help your street come alive over the weekend of 20 to 22 November 2020.
