About the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in Faringdon

Faringdon Town Council invites you to join the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in Faringdon.

Saturday 28 May

2.00pm to 4.00pm – Vintage Tea Dance in the Corn Exchange

There will be prizes for best vintage fancy dress. Tickets costing £4.00 each are available in the Information Centre.

Thursday 02 June

From 8.30pm – Beacon lighting in the town centre

Music from AI cane at Faringdon Market Place from 8.30pm. Piper at 9.35pm. Bugler at 9.40pm, followed by the lighting of the Beacon at 9.45pm.

Saturday 04 June

10.30am to noon – Royal British Legion Parade

The Faringdon and District Branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) will have a Military Parade at Faringdon Market Place.

9.00am & 10.45am – Farcycles vintage bike ride

This will be a sedate ride in keeping with the outfits and bikes. Strictly no lycra or racing bikes!! Dress up in vintage costume if you can, and ride an old bike (they have some vintage bikes at the Farcycles shop that can be borrowed for the event).

Riders to meet at the Market Place for a 9.00am start, with a view to returning to the Market Place by 10.30am. There will be a second loop in a different direction setting off at 10.45 from the Market Place, which will return by 11.45am.

If you prefer to just do the second ride starting at 10.45am, that’s absolutely fine. Or just do the first ride.

The Market Place will be closed to traffic between 10.30am and noon.

Local street parties

Sunday 05 June

11.00am to 4.00pm – Rotary’s “Picnic in the Park” at Tuckers Park

Free entertainment including Face Painint, Caricaturist, Mobile Farm, Magician and Ballon Art, Live Music from Young Rosie, Thomas the Tank Engine, Faringdon Fire Engin, Children’s Craft, Go Karts, Children’s Crown Compatition, and a Best Dressed Adult in 1950s-style Competition.

Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcomed.

Faringdon Town Council will be working in partnership with Faringdon RBL, Rotary, Farcycles and other local community groups and businesses to provide these events.
