26 October 2021 to 28 October 2021

Half Term Family Days at Science Oxford

About Half Term Family Days at Science Oxford

Visit the Science Oxford Centre this half term for a spell of spooky science for all the family.

Conjure up chromatography-bats and explore the science of colour, and brave the pumpkin trail in our forbidden forest to figure out the magic word and win a prize.

Get hands-on and try out secret experiments in the Exploration Zone, where trainee wizards can make flying frights hover above the Air Table – and see a hidden world come to light with our Curious Camera.

Families can get close up with mini-beasts and creepy crawlies with the microscopes or take an aquatic adventure with the outdoor Water Lab – we recommend you bring a change of wizarding outfits!

Your ticket includes two hours in the Exploration Zone and access to woodland all day.

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic, as the Skogen café will not be available for Family Day visitors. There will, however, be a pop-up café serving drinks and snacks from the Theatre.

Sessions run from 10.00am to noon, 12.30pm to 2.30pm, and 3.00pm to 5.00pm

Suitable for ages 3+ (all ages welcome)

£6 per person or £20 for a family ticket (4 people, must include 1 adult) under 3s free.

Visit Safely

The health and well-being of visitors and staff is the highest priority. Following Government guidance from 19 July onwards, here are some steps taken to keep you safe:

  • All tickets must still be booked in advance.
  • There will be reduced capacity per session.
  • Inside the Science Oxford Centre will be kept well ventilated with doors and windows open.
  • Regular cleaning will take place throughout the day.
  • Face coverings are not required but are recommended for visitors inside the centre (age 11+).
  • Hand sanitiser is available upon entering and exiting the Science Oxford Centre and in the Exploration Zone.
  • Full contact details of those booking a ticket are required to comply with test and trace. QR codes for the Test & Trace app are available upon entry to the centre.
  • If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or are in a vulnerable group, please stay at home – you can transfer your ticket to another day (you can do this yourself via Eventbrite or contact us if you have any issues).

Note, for weekday events, there is only disabled parking on-site at the Science Oxford Centre. There’s alternative parking in the area, including limited 2-hour, and 3-hour, free parking available on Quarry Road.

Families can enjoy lunch at our outdoor picnic tables or at the additional indoor seating in the Theatre. Unfortunately, the Skogen Café at the centre will not be available, but a small pop-up cafe will instead be running from the Theatre, serving tea, coffee, juice and snacks (minimum 50p donation for all items).
