Now\, the legendary DJ will be taking his Sounds of the 60’s show on the road for a UK tour celebrating the music of this much-loved decade. \n\n\n\nFeaturing stories and songs from perhaps the most iconic 10 years in music\, fashion and popular culture\, the Sounds of the 60s tour will bring to life memories of the era. \n\n\n\nThe Sounds of the 60s All-Star Band and Singers will perform classic hits from the likes of Diana Ross & The Supremes\, The Everly Brothers\, Elvis\, The Beatles\, The Rolling Stones\, The Beach Boys\, The Drifters\, Stevie Wonder\, Marvin Gaye\, and many more. \n\n\n\nWith this year marking the 60th anniversary of his first broadcast on pirate radio station Radio Caroline South in 1964\, Tony Blackburn is remembered as a defining voice of the 1960s.  \n\n\n\nHis incredible career has seen him present on BBC Radio 1\, Top of the Pops\, and since 2017\, he has presented Sounds of the 60’s on Radio 2\, a hugely popular show on BBC Radio. \n\n\n\nA champion in particular of Soul music throughout the 60’s\, Tony has been recognised with 37 awards to his name\, including two Gold Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Radio\, becoming the first person in history to receive two of these lifetime achievement awards. \n\n\n\nTony is also recognised for becoming the first King of the Jungle in the original series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity – Get Me Out Of Here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSounds Of The 60s Live – Hosted By Tony Blackburn OBE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee. \n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDuration:This show has an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years. The first theatre was built in 1836\, and a second in 1886. In 1934\, the third New Theatre opened. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has been owned by several different companies and undergone several name changes. It is now owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group and hosts everything from ballet and opera to musicals. \n\n\n\nOn performance days\, the Box Office opens at noon and closes 15 minutes after the show starts. If there is a performance on a Sunday or Bank Holiday\, Box Office will open 2 hours before the show begins and close 15 minutes after the show starts. \n\n\n\nThere is a large air-conditioned bar with seating located below the Stalls Foyer\, two further bars in the Circle Foyer and an additional one at the back of the balcony. All stocked with an array of drinks and snacks. \n\n\n\nThere is a cloakroom located in the stalls bar. If this is closed\, please speak to a member of staff. £1 per item. When Kreisler said as much in a 1905 newspaper interview\, Elgar picked up the threads of a concerto he’d begun nearly two decades earlier.  \n\n\n\nThe piece he finished five years later\, performed in this concert by the exceptional Nicola Benedetti\, is as epic and emotive as it is personal and elusive\, ‘enshrining the soul’ of an unknown person.  \n\n\n\nA more famous enigma is found in Elgar’s dazzlingly virtuosic set of variations for orchestra. His Enigma Variations are portraits of friends and celebrations of orchestral panache. But they also offer glimpses into the soul of an artist who might have been careful not to reveal his secrets but was never afraid to show his emotions. \n\n\n\nElgar the ‘great English progressivist’ \n\n\n\nEdward Elgar is often thought of as a conservative\, but Richard Strauss hailed him as adventurous and forward-looking.
