DESCRIPTION:Buy tickets \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Elisabeth Brauß\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout St John’s International Piano Series: Elisabeth Brauß\n\n\n\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Piano Sonata no.12 in F major\, K.332 \n\n\n\nOlivier Messiaen Le baiser de l’enfant-Jésus from Vingt regards sur l’enfant-Jésus \n\n\n\nFerenc Liszt Variations on ‘Weinen\, Klagen\, Sorgen\, Zagen’ S.180 \n\n\n\nInterval \n\n\n\nThomas Adès Blanca Variations \n\n\n\nJohannes BrahmsKlavierstücke op.76\, nos. 1-5 \n\n\n\nRobert Schumann Faschingsschwank aus Wien op.26 \n\n\n\nElisabeth Brauß was raised in Hannover\, where she attended the prestigious Hochschule für Musik. Selected as a BBC New Generation Artist 2018-2021 she made her debut at the BBC Proms and performed widely around the country. She has been returning ever since. \n\n\n\nElisabeth often includes music by Robert Schumann in her programmes and her finale tonight is his Carnival-Jape from Vienna. Schumann was staying in the city\, trying without any success to interest the Viennese publishers in his music journal. \n\n\n\nIt was a bleak time\, he was homesick and missing his beloved Clara. Despite this\, and allowing for some sections of great tenderness\, it is the exuberant and mischievous spirit of Carnival that carries the day. \n\n\n\nAccess to St John’s College Auditorium \n\n\n\nConcert-goers are asked to enter St John’s College via the back gate at 8 Parks Road\, OX1 3PD (shortly before the traffic lights with South Parks Road).
