SUMMARY:What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner
DESCRIPTION:What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner at New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner\n\n\n\nAfter a sensational 2025 that saw over 60\,000 Tina Turner fans across the UK singing\, dancing\, and having the time of their lives\, What’s Love Got To Do With It? is back and bigger than ever for 2026! \n\n\n\nThis electrifying tribute show celebrates the music and unparalleled career of the one and only Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll\, Tina Turner. Get ready for an unforgettable evening of high-energy\, feel-good rock and soul\, brought to life by a phenomenal live band. \n\n\n\nPacked with all the classic hits you know and love\, the show delivers showstopping performances of Proud Mary\, River Deep – Mountain High\, Simply The Best\, Private Dancer\, Nutbush City Limits\, and many more. \n\n\n\nStepping into Tina’s iconic heels is Kent’s own Holly Bannis\, the daughter of Greg Bannis\, former lead singer of Hot Chocolate. \n\n\n\nHolly’s rise to center stage is as inspiring as it is exciting. Growing up in a musical family\, Holly honed her craft for over a decade performing semi-professionally before an audition on ITV’s Starstruck changed her life. “I had to audition as three of my musical icons\, and Tina was an obvious choice for me. During lockdown\, I studied her performances obsessively\, getting into her moves\, her walk\, and her energy.” \n\n\n\nIt wasn’t long before the team behind What’s Love Got To Do With It? noticed Holly’s raw talent and passion. Initially cast as a backing singer and understudy\, Holly quickly stepped into the spotlight\, making the lead role her own and earning standing ovations night after night. \n\n\n\nAudiences can expect a show bursting with energy\, emotion\, and that signature Tina fire. The production kicks off with hits like Private Dancer\, as Holly fully inhabits Tina’s powerful vocals and unmistakable moves\, transporting fans to the heart of a live Tina Turner concert experience. Then\, in the show-stopping second half\, the audience is guaranteed to be on their feet\, dancing and singing along to high-octane classics like Nutbush City Limits. \n\n\n\nWhat’s Love Got To Do With It? isn’t just a concert – it’s a celebration of Tina Turner’s legacy\, a night of unrelenting joy\, and a tribute to one of the most electrifying performers in music history. \n\n\n\nPlease note that this is a tribute production and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Tina Turner Estate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s Love Got To Do With It? In April 2026\, she made her recital debut at Suntory Hall\, Tokyo\, with the programme that she presents tonight. \n\n\n\nIt is a lovely programme: sunny Mozart\, sparkling Scarlatti\, Chopin strutting proudly\, Schubert’s Theme and Variations\, and the excitement of a UK premiere. Framing all this\, are arrangements of works originally composed for other instruments. \n\n\n\nWidmung is the love song that Robert Schumann gifted to Clara on the eve of their long-delayed marriage. The Chaconne started life as a partita for solo violin – Busoni took just the final movement and transformed it into a wonderfully dramatic and dignified stand-alone piece for piano. A splendid finale. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £15.00 \n\n\n\nAll orders will be subject to a per transaction booking fee of £1.50 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 01 October at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours including an interval \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nBuying a season ticket (top three price bands only)Buy a ticket for every concert in the series\, within the same transaction\, to benefit from a 20% discount. DESCRIPTION:Organ Recital with Stefan Donner\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Organ Recital with Stefan Donner\n\n\n\nOxford Town Hall will host an organ recital with Stefan Donner in the venue’s impressive Main Hall\, showcasing the renowned Father Willis Organ. \n\n\n\nBuilt in the late 19th century by celebrated English organ builder Henry Willis\, the historic instrument is an imposing feature of the Main Hall and provides a fitting setting for an afternoon of live organ music. \n\n\n\nIt is particularly notable because the instrument has been preserved remarkably close to its original form. SUMMARY:Recital: Duologues
DESCRIPTION:About Recital: Duologues\n\n\n\nMiniatures of musical conversation – inspiration for every hour and every mood. \n\n\n\nIn Duologues\, Rachel Podger pairs up with eminent baroque cellist Alex Rolton in a delightful programme of duos by Corelli and J.S.Bach inspired by a new album of the same title which will be released in Oct 2026 and also includes instrumentalists Lucie Horsch and Jane Rogers. \n\n\n\nPlaying duos was a staple of 18th-century domestic music-making and offers the players a unique chance to ‘converse’ spontaneously around all the prevailing moods\, in a varied combination of violin plus. \n\n\n\nFrom the reflective to the dazzling\, this idiom represents a stunning distillation of exchanges where the instruments speak and listen at the same time; they offer up answers to questions that become questions themselves\, and replete with conceits of flattery\, generosity\, curiosity\, sarcasm\, imitation\, persuasion and provocation. \n\n\n\nRachel and Alex invite you to be a part of these endlessly pleasurable and resourceful dialogues. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFull price – £27.00 \n\n\n\nConcessions (Student\, disability\, benefits\, under 16) – £7.00 \n\n\n\nAll orders will be subject to a per transaction booking fee of £1.50 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 25 October at 2.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 2.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour 30 minutes\, without an interval

SUMMARY:Net Zero Without the End of Fossil Fuels?
DESCRIPTION:About Net Zero Without the End of Fossil Fuels?\n\n\n\nClimate targets imply a dramatic transformation of the global energy system\, yet fossil fuels are likely to remain part of it for decades. \n\n\n\nProfessor Myles Allen CBE FRS\, Professor of Geosystem Science at the University of Oxford\, explores what this apparent contradiction means for climate policy and the future of oil and gas\, including the contested UK developments at Jackdaw and Rosebank. \n\n\n\nDrawing on his climate research and his new perspective as a Hagler Research Fellow in Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M\, he asks what a credible path to net zero looks like if fossil fuels are not\, in fact\, going away. \n\n\n\nFollowing Myles’s presentation\, he will be joined in conversation by Stephen Fisher\, Professor of Political Sociology at Trinity College\, whose research on attitudes to climate change includes the Peoples’ Climate Vote surveys for the United Nations Development Programme. \n\n\n\nThe event will conclude with a Q&A with the audience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFull price – £10.00Concessions (Student\, disability\, benefits\, under 16) – £5.00 \n\n\n\nAll orders will be subject to a per transaction booking fee of £1.50 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 21 October at 5.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 5.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\nThis show has no interval

SUMMARY:The Alonetimes
DESCRIPTION:The Alonetimes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Alonetimes\n\n\n\nA bold new music-theatre work about memory\, loneliness\, and belonging by composers Jennifer Walshe and Philip Venables. \n\n\n\nA Bronze Age druid carries out a ritual to summon those we have lost; a Gen Z woman navigates the utter isolation of bad relationships; a dancer in 1980s New York questions the dream he chased; decades from now\, visions of two boys playing piano together in the 90s appear in a VR headset; next week\, an ex-lover’s voice rattles through a broken walkie-talkie 20 years on from the last time you saw them. \n\n\n\nThe Alonetimes is a fragmented archaeology of personal stories\, an intertextual polyphony of moments of isolation operating across time and space. Six multi-skilled performers slip in and out of different voices\, different lives. \n\n\n\nThey tell stories\, the sort of stories we carry around like pebbles in our pockets\, stories we need to tell in order to finally set them down and move forward\, in order not to be trapped between different periods of time. \n\n\n\nBy turns deeply moving and darkly comic\, The Alonetimes weaves together semi-autobiographical stories and historical texts – broken friendships\, fumbled sexual encounters\, quiet moments of revelation\, mid-life crises\, emotional meltdowns and online dating profiles. \n\n\n\nWords that won’t come out of the mouth and words that tumble out uncontrollably. A trash-talking\, chain-vaping Druid from 3300 BC threads our path through this kaleidoscopic minefield\, urging performers and audience alike to work through the challenges from our past\, put it to rest\, and maybe feel a bit less alone. \n\n\n\nThrough two very different bodies of work and working practices\, Jennifer and Philip share a common love for storytelling\, collage\, the voice and music theatre at its most eclectic. \n\n\n\nThey often weave their own life experiences into their work\, striving to make direct\, visceral connections with the audience; music theatre that can ask what it means to be alive\, that talks openly and honestly about human relationships. \n\n\n\nJennifer and Philip are excited to collide their practices in this work\, to be collaborative and playful with each other; to write over\, into and underneath each other’s work. It will be an adventure. \n\n\n\nPerformers: \n\n\n\nAndreas Borregaard accordion \n\n\n\nDiamanda La Berge Dramm violin \n\n\n\nLoré Lixenberg voice \n\n\n\nOskar McCarthy voice \n\n\n\nVanessa Porter percussion \n\n\n\nAdam Starkie bass clarinet \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £26.95 to £53.90 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nMonday 19 October 2026 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour with no interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nSohmen Concert Hall

He then went on to launch and be the very first voice ever heard on BBC Radio 1 in 1967. \n\n\n\nTony is widely regarded as a true pioneer of British broadcasting. His passion for soul music has defined much of his career and helped shape the UK’s music landscape. \n\n\n\nOver the decades\, he has become a beloved figure on both radio and television. His illustrious career has seen him receive 37 industry awards\, among them two Gold Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Radio—first awarded in 1989 and again in 2014\, making him the only recipient of two lifetime achievement honours. \n\n\n\nHe also received the Sony Award for Best Breakfast Show (Contemporary Music) in 1993 and the Radio Academy’s Music and Media Award in 1997. In 2002\, he won the first-ever series of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!\, and in 2012 appeared (controversially under-scored!) on Let’s Dance for Sport Relief alongside David Hamilton. \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, he was featured on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and began regular segments for The One Show on BBC One. \n\n\n\nIn 2023\, Tony joined the presenting team of BBC Morning Live\, continuing to bring his warmth\, humour\, and musical knowledge to new audiences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £34.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 15 October 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 50 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain Auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. SUMMARY:Roderick Williams: Love's Minstrels
DESCRIPTION:Roderick Williams: Love’s Minstrels \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Roderick Williams: Love’s Minstrels \n\n\n\nA beautifully crafted programme from two master musicians. \n\n\n\nRoderick Williams’ appearances at Oxford International Song Festival are always eagerly anticipated and this recital is sure to be a highlight of the year. The typically inventive programme tells stories of courtly love across the ages. \n\n\n\nIt ranges from the medieval pen of Guillaume de Machaut\, expressing his love and fidelity\, via the Romantic poetry of Eichendorff with its evocations of ruined castles and mystic knights\, to the beauty of 20th-century songs from England and Ireland by the likes of Ina Boyle and Ralph Vaughan Williams. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Williams communicates so easily and naturally with his audience that everything he delivers is vivid and compelling.” \n\n\n\nThe Guardian \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £26.95 to £53.90 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 14 October 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nSohmen Concert Hall

SUMMARY:Nigel Kennedy
DESCRIPTION:Nigel Kennedy\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Nigel Kennedy \n\n\n\nThe UK’s greatest living violinist has promised an evening that reflects his love of a unified approach to all music. Kennedy will be accompanied by long-time collaborators Alec Dankworth\, son of the late John Dankworth and Cleo Laine\, on double bass and the great cellist Peter Adams. \n\n\n\nKennedy’s adventurous approach and comprehensive mastery of the violin mean his concerts will\, as always\, go straight to the heart of the British public. At 13\, Kennedy was introduced to the jazz violin legend Stephane Grappelli\, sparking a lifelong involvement in the genre. \n\n\n\nThe pair became great friends\, touring theatres\, folk clubs\, and at the famous Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London\, where Kennedy performed for the first time. \n\n\n\nKennedy’s 1989 hit recording of Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ made him an international star and completely transformed the classical music scene. Nigel’s inclusive and open-minded approach to all styles of music continues to this day and has won him fans all over the world. \n\n\n\nKennedy combines a unique mix of repertoire with energy\, dynamics and mind-blowing technical and emotional musicality\, which will leave audiences spellbound. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“An inspiration to the musicians of tomorrow and today.” \n\n\n\nRobert Plant \n\n\n\n\n\n“Like a breath of fresh air.” \n\n\n\nGeorge Martin \n\n\n\n\n\n“A brilliant musician.” \n\n\n\nKate Bush \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £43.16 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nMonday 12 October 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 35 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
