SUMMARY:The Bootleg Shadows
DESCRIPTION:The Bootleg Shadows\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Bootleg Shadows\n\n\n\nIn June 1960\, Hank B Marvin\, Bruce Welch\, Jet Harris and Tony Meehan recorded Apache. \n\n\n\nThis charted in July and became the monster hit that launched the Shadows instrumental career and founded a nation of bespectacled guitarists dreaming of acquiring their very own Fender Stratocaster and stepping out into the glaring spotlight of stardom. \n\n\n\nWith their immaculate appearance\, synchronised dance movements and clean\, pure melodic sound\, the Shadows chalked up 35 hits of their own (not counting another 33 hits with Cliff Richard)\, giving them more hits than any other British group and securing them a unique place in the annals of popular music. \n\n\n\nToday\, the Shadows make few live appearances\, but the Bootleg Shadows keep their ‘live’ sound alive by performing a fantasy concert that encompasses the Shadows amazing career from 1960 up until the early 80s. Concert audiences are invited to relive fantastic hits such as: \n\n\n\nFoot Tapper\, Man of Mystery\, Atlantis\, Wonderful Land\, Kon Tiki\, Don’t Cry for Me Argentina\, FBI plus many\, many more. \n\n\n\nIn the company of Geoff\, Keith\, Tony\, Lloyd and Binks\, the audience is taken on a tour of the Shadows career\, with plenty of humour to make it a night out to remember. \n\n\n\nFor anyone who loves the sounds of the 60’s – and enjoys a few laughs on the way – Bootleg Shadows perform a unique tribute that has audiences humming the tunes and doing the Shadows famous ‘walk’ long after they have left the theatre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£21.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 29 March 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. It is a resource for the community\, and it is also a professional venue\, welcoming over 55\,000 customer visits every year. \n\n\n\nIt is something unique\, but it is also different things to different people. It is the cause and subject of many arguments and debates; and a fair amount of acclaim and affection. It is complicated and a little eccentric. \n\n\n\nIt is not a little theatre. It likes to make a big noise. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about The Theatre Chipping Norton\, including travel\, access and venue information.

When Kreisler said as much in a 1905 newspaper interview\, Elgar picked up the threads of a concerto he’d begun nearly two decades earlier. \n\n\n\nThe piece he finished five years later\, performed in this concert by the exceptional Nicola Benedetti\, is as epic and emotive as it is personal and elusive\, ‘enshrining the soul’ of an unknown person. \n\n\n\nA more famous enigma is found in Elgar’s dazzlingly virtuosic set of variations for orchestra. His Enigma Variations are portraits of friends and celebrations of orchestral panache. But they also offer glimpses into the soul of an artist who might have been careful not to reveal his secrets but was never afraid to show his emotions. \n\n\n\nElgar the ‘great English progressivist’ \n\n\n\nEdward Elgar is often thought of as a conservative\, but Richard Strauss hailed him as adventurous and forward-looking. Nicholas Kenyon explores Elgar as he created pioneering 20th-century music and became a composer of unforgettable masterpieces. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £20.00 \n\n\n\n(Students from £5.00) \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 15 April 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPre-concert talk given by Sir Nicholas Kenyon at 6.30pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:St John's International Piano Series: Alexander Gavrylyuk
DESCRIPTION:St John’s International Piano Series: Alexander Gavrylyuk\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout St John’s International Piano Series: Alexander Gavrylyuk\n\n\n\nMozart Sonata in C major\, K.330 \n\n\n\nChopin Fantasie in f minor op.49 \n\n\n\nLiszt Tarantella Venezia e Napoli \n\n\n\nInterval \n\n\n\nMussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition \n\n\n\nAlexander Gavrylyuk’s big break came when he won Gold Medal at the 2005 Arthur Rubenstein Piano Masters. He has been a sought-after presence on the international stage ever since. \n\n\n\nTonight’s programme begins with Mozart’s sunny sonata in C major\, written when he was newly married and all was going well for him in Vienna. Chopin’s Fantasie in f minor follows\, a mysterious and contemplative piece despite its marching rhythms. Then – dancing to the interval – Liszt’s fast and furious Tarantella. \n\n\n\nThe second half is Pictures at an Exhibition. This came about after Mussorgsky’s close friend\, artist Viktor Hartmann\, died suddenly at the age of 39. \n\n\n\nIn the form of a stroll through an exhibition of Hartmann’s work\, with a pause to look at each picture\, it is one of those pieces that is so special it can seem too familiar. It is certain that tonight it won’t. Presenting the piece at Wigmore Hall in 2023\, Alexander Gavrylyuk received not one but two standing ovations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £18.00 to £40.00 \n\n\n\nA fee of £1.50 per transaction applies to bookings for this event across all channels – website\, phone and in-person bookings at the Box Office. SUMMARY:Hackney Colliery Band
DESCRIPTION:Hackney Colliery Band\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Hackney Colliery Band\n\n\n\nSince 2009\, East London musical pioneers Hackney Colliery Band have pushed the boundaries of brass band conventions\, building a steadfast fanbase with their joyous live shows and slew of heralded releases. \n\n\n\nNow fifteen years deep into their collective journey\, and with some incredible career highlights to note (such as performing to 80\,000 people at the opening of the 2012 Olympic Games in London)\, the 9 piece outfit prepare to announce their 6th full-length offering\, the hotly anticipated ‘Collaborations: Volume Two’. \n\n\n\nWhereas their fifth album ‘Collaborations: Volume One featured a range of World Music legends\, including Grammy-winning Beninese vocalist Angélique Kidjo and godfather of Ethiopian jazz Mulatu Astatke\, ‘Volume Two’ sees HCB focus on songs and singers\, alongside a sprinkling of instrumentals featuring harp\, guitar\, cello\, and even conch shells. \n\n\n\nAs anyone who has attempted any degree of social organisation will attest\, it is no mean feat to gather nine people in one place\, at the same time\, on a semi-regular basis\, never mind taking this group of people all over the world to play instrumental music. \n\n\n\nAdd into the mix an industry where artists are encouraged to find a genre niche and stick to it – advice HCB have joyously ignored for their fifteen-year career – and the community and kinship that HCB have built up over this time seems even more remarkable. \n\n\n\nFrontman/composer Steve Pretty and composers Olly Blackman and Luke Christie say of this release: “It’s a privilege and joy to still be playing together after all these years\, and especially to be pushing each other to be as creative and innovative as we can be. \n\n\n\n“The process of collaborating with so many amazing artists and the freshness that’s brought to the project is endlessly inspiring. Some of this music started life almost a decade ago\, and other tracks are only a few months old\, but we’re so proud of the breadth of musical talent on display with this record.” \n\n\n\nA testament to their tenure and calibre as musicians\, ‘Collaborations: Volume Two’ is an exuberant and original addition to HCB’s already impressive and varied catalogue\, highlighting their restlessly collaborative and creative instincts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£25.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 28 April 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton.
