SUMMARY:Public Service Broadcasting
DESCRIPTION:Public Service Broadcasting\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Public Service Broadcasting\n\n\n\nFollowing their sell-out Friars Aylesbury Bright Magic concert in 2021\, Public Service Broadcasting returns to New Theatre Oxford for the final leg of their UK tour celebrating the launch of their new album titled The Last Flight which was released on Friday 04 October. \n\n\n\nThe inspiration for the LP is taken from the final voyage of America’s pioneering female “aviatrix” Amelia Earhart. Back in 1922\, when she was just 25\, she flew higher than any woman before her and became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans\, setting multiple speed and distance records. \n\n\n\nPublic Service Broadcasting\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIt also makes a nod to her final venture\, when she announced in 1937 that she would circumnavigate the globe in her Lockheed Model 10-E Electra aircraft. She crossed the Americas\, Africa\, the Middle East\, and Asia\, but never made it back. \n\n\n\nThe album’s first single Electra is a pulsating\, funk-inspired track which\, like the album\, takes inspiration from the determination of Earheart and captures the same force as her aircraft. \n\n\n\n“I wanted to do a woman-focused story because most of the archive we have access to is overwhelmingly male”\, said J. Willgoose Esq\, discussing the inspiration for their first album since 2021’s Bright Magic.  \n\n\n\n“I was initially drawn in by Earhart’s final fight\, rather than the successes that she had\, but the more I read the more I became fascinated by her. Her bravery and aeronautical achievements were extraordinary\, but her philosophy and the dignity that she had… she was an outstanding person.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £34.63 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95. \n\n\n\nDate and time: \n\n\n\nThursday 20 March 2025 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\nUnder 16s to be accompanied by an adult 21+. No under 5s. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVideo\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years. The first theatre was built in 1836\, and a second in 1886. In 1934\, the third New Theatre opened. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has been owned by several different companies and undergone several name changes. It is now owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group and hosts everything from ballet and opera to musicals. \n\n\n\nOn performance days\, the Box Office opens at noon and closes 15 minutes after the show starts. If there is a performance on a Sunday or Bank Holiday\, Box Office will open 2 hours before the show begins and close 15 minutes after the show starts. \n\n\n\nThere is a large air-conditioned bar with seating located below the Stalls Foyer\, two further bars in the Circle Foyer and an additional one at the back of the balcony. All stocked with an array of drinks and snacks. \n\n\n\nThere is a cloakroom located in the stalls bar. If this is closed\, please speak to a member of staff. £1 per item. SUMMARY:Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra: Christoph Eschenbach
DESCRIPTION:Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra: Christoph Eschenbach\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra: Christoph Eschenbach\n\n\n\nMendelssohn Overture to Midsummer Night’s Dream\, Op. 21 \n\n\n\nBach Violin Concerto No. 2 in E major\, BWV 1042 \n\n\n\nMendelssohn Symphony No. 4 in A major\, Op. 90\, ‘Italian’ \n\n\n\nChristoph Eschenbach conductor \n\n\n\nThomas Zehetmair violin \n\n\n\nTwo things inspired Mendelssohn more than anything else: travel and literature. This concert under Christoph Eschenbach celebrates both\, opening with all the magic and mystery of the composer’s overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream\, the play by Shakespeare for which he wrote extensive incidental music\, and concluding with the boundless exhilaration and joy of his Italian Symphony\, which overflows with the composer’s unique brand of perfected spontaneity. \n\n\n\nBetween them comes the Violin Concerto in E minor from Mendelssohn’s other great love: Bach. \n\n\n\nThis concert contains a pre-concert talk from Stephen Carpenter which runs from 6.30pm to 6.55pm. \n\n\n\nMendelssohn in Italy– an illustrated talk by Stephen Carpenter \n\n\n\nThis talk will give an account of the Italian journey undertaken by Felix Mendelssohn in 1830 and 1831. It was a journey that would inspire Mendelssohn to write one of his best-loved works\, Symphony No. 4 – the ‘Italian’. This was the continuation of his “Grand Tour” which had begun in England and (unusually) Scotland in 1829 and now took him to Italy\, which was the country visited by many young men of means in the early 18th century. \n\n\n\nThe talk will bring Mendelssohn’s journey vividly to life by showing several of the fine sketches and watercolours that he made during his travels\, and give an introduction to the ‘Italian’ Symphony that brings the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra’s concert to a close. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nStandard tickets – From £20.00 \n\n\n\nStudent – From £5.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 20 March 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours\, including an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n6+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Levellers
DESCRIPTION:Levellers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Levellers\n\n\n\nAfter two highly acclaimed acoustic tours and albums in recent years\, the Levellers Collective has announced a new 17-date tour in Spring 2025 at theatres and venues around the country plus a Live Album & DVD. \n\n\n\nThe Collective live shows\, and albums\, came about after the Levellers decided to do something a bit different with their extensive back catalogue in 2018. Together with members of fellow Brighton group The Moulettes\, they went on to record two albums radically reworking their songs – with producer John Leckie (We The Collective) and Sean Lakeman (Together All The Way). \n\n\n\nLevellers\n\n\n\nThe new acoustic arrangements of those Levellers songs\, old and new\, can now also be seen and heard on a new Live Album & DVD which was recorded in 2023 at London’s iconic Hackney Empire. The film captures the spirit of the Levellers as never seen before as multiple cameras were positioned onstage for the recording and the result is a truly privileged vantage point. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £32.41 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nFriday 21 March 2025 at 8.00pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. SUMMARY:Opus 48: Mendelssohn Elijah
DESCRIPTION:Opus 48 Mendelssohn Elijah\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Opus 48: Mendelssohn Elijah\n\n\n\nJoin Opus 48 for Mendelssohn’s dramatic oratorio Elijah. They are joined by some of the country’s best up and coming soloists and the historically-informed players of the Musical and Amicable Society for a performance that will awaken you to every detail of this incredible score. \n\n\n\nOpus 48 shows off its incredible versatility as the choir takes many roles throughout the piece while the story unfolds. Mendelssohn’s musical and dramatic choices suggest the stuff of opera – shouting crowds\, a vengeful Queen\, and a flaming chariot – yet Elijah is grounded in a profoundly spiritual\, devotional ethos. \n\n\n\nThe work as a whole\, through its choruses and words\, professes timeless spiritual values\, stressing the worth of endurance and perseverance\, and the importance of hope amid despair. \n\n\n\nIf you enjoy Handel oratorios\, then you will recognise his influences in Mendelssohn’s epic\, Biblical drama – together with Bach-inspired worshipful reflective moments. Elijah was a ‘grand and mighty prophet … borne on the wings of angels’\, brought thrillingly alive in this piece. It is truly a masterpiece that deserves its place as one of the monumental compositions of the 19th century. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a longtime fan of choral music or just looking for a gripping evening out\, this concert promises to be a real highlight. Get your tickets now and immerse yourself in this extraordinary music! \n\n\n\nOpus 48 – named in honour of Fauré’s Requiem – is an exciting medium-sized choral society in Oxfordshire\, performing an impressive range of repertoire to the very highest standard. Opus 48 rehearses and performs under the baton of Musical Director\, David Crown\, one of the leading choral conductors in the UK. To read more about Opus 48 and their upcoming season\, please visit their website. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £15.00 to £40.00 \n\n\n\nConcessions for Under 18’s\, Student\, and those with Accessible needs \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 22 March 2025 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 40 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\nAll ages welcome \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Oxford Harmonic Choir: Rossini's Stabat Mater & Mozart's Coronation Mass
DESCRIPTION:Oxford Harmonic Choir: Rossini’s Stabat Mater & Mozart’s Coronation Mass\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Harmonic Choir: Rossini’s Stabat Mater & Mozart’s Coronation Mass\n\n\n\nSusan Young – soprano \n\n\n\nHeather Jill Burns – mezzo-soprano \n\n\n\nAustin Gunn – tenor \n\n\n\nJames Cleverton – baritone \n\n\n\nThe Stabat Mater is a 13th-century meditation on the anguish the Virgin Mary would have felt on witnessing Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. This text has inspired some of the most memorable and imaginative choral music ever written\, from the Renaissance into the present day. Rossini’s 1841 setting is no exception. \n\n\n\nIt is cut from the same cloth as the later Verdi Requiem\, in that it lays the text’s raw emotion bare using Italian opera techniques. It also makes extraordinary demands on the soloists\, which is probably why it is rarely performed! Mozart’s Coronation Mass is one of his most popular settings of the Mass. \n\n\n\nComposed in Salzburg after he was appointed court organist and composer at Salzburg Cathedral\, it is celebratory throughout. The soprano solo Agnus Dei bears a striking resemblance to the Countess’s aria Dove Sono from Figaro. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £15.00 to £30.00 \n\n\n\nStudents and under 18s half price in the Semi-circle and Upper Gallery only (proof of status required). \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 23 March 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:The Bootleg Beatles
DESCRIPTION:The Bootleg Beatles\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Bootleg Beatles\n\n\n\nSixty years ago the Beatles’ debut feature-length film A Hard Day’s Night became a huge critical and commercial success\, even being nominated for two Academy Awards. \n\n\n\nThe following year in 1965 their second film Help!\, this one in colour\, received similar glowing plaudits. The group was hailed as a modern-day Marx Brothers and their director\, Dick Lester\, was credited with ‘fathering’ the MTV pop video culture that was to come. \n\n\n\nThe Bootleg Beatles\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo what better time to celebrate the songs not just from the soundtracks of these two iconic motion pictures\, but from all five in their catalogue. \n\n\n\nFeaturing hits from A Hard Day’s Night\, Help!\, Magical Mystery Tour\, Yellow Submarine\, and Let it Be\, The Bootleg Beatles and their orchestra will take you on a whistle-stop trip through the celluloid career of the Fab Four in their brand new spectacular multi-media stage show. \n\n\n\nIt’s all there\, the costumes\, the hairstyles\, the banter and the gear. It’s not the Beatles….. but you simply won’t believe it! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Entirely Convincing” \n\n\n\nThe Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“Less a tribute\, more a reincarnation” \n\n\n\nThe Telegraph \n\n\n\n\n\n“Glorious” \n\n\n\nThe Liverpool Echo \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £37.50 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95. \n\n\n\nDate and time: \n\n\n\nTuesday 08 April 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time:2 hours and 30 minutes\, including an interval. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat the critics say\n\n\n\n\n“Breath-taking” \n\n\n\nThe Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“A terrific show” \n\n\n\nSir George Martin \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years. Having encountered the masterpieces of Bach and Handel\, Mozart began to reappraise his values as a composer. The result was the dark and otherworldly music Mozart completed as the torso of his score—a setting of the Ordinary of the Mass more profound in substance and grand in scale than any he had written before. \n\n\n\nSir John Rutter conducts Mozart’s monumental Great Mass in C minor\, the culmination of a programme that includes the composer’s playful symphony composed during a brief stay in Linz and the Regina Coeli\, which comprises some of the most sublime music Mozart wrote for the church. \n\n\n\nSupported by The James & Shirley Sherwood Foundation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nStandard tickets – From £18.00 \n\n\n\nStudent – From £5.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 17 April 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time:  \n\n\n\n2 hours\, including an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n6+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:The Prat Pack 2025 UK Tour: Preview Shows
DESCRIPTION:The Prat Pack 2025 UK Tour\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Prat Pack 2025 UK Tour: Preview Shows\n\n\n\nFour of the country’s greatest comedy entertainers will tour the UK in 2025 with their own special take on the Rat Pack – Bradley Walsh (The Chase\, Gladiators)\, Brian Conley (The Brian Conley Show\, EastEnders)\, Shane Richie (EastEnders\, I’m a Celebrity…)\, and Joe Pasquale (I’m a Celebrity…\, Dancing On Ice) are ‘The Prat Pack’. \n\n\n\nWith countless stage performances between them\, from hit musicals to celebrated pantomimes\, this talented group brings their charisma and comedic flair to audiences in a show packed with music and laughter. \n\n\n\nInspired by the performances of Frank Sinatra\, Dean Martin\, Sammy Davis Jr\, Joey Bishop\, and Peter Lawford\, the UK stars are hitting the road (with Pasquale at the wheel of the tour bus). \n\n\n\nPacked with laughs and songs\, backed by a 15-piece band\, the show will let the audience in on the banter between some of television’s best-loved stars – who are also very close friends. \n\n\n\nBradley Walsh says: “People are starved of our type of entertainment – songs\, stories\, jokes – and banter! It’s an homage to the Rat Pack but brought up to the modern day\, and it’s a fantastic night. We are just thrilled. We all share the same dressing room – we’re mates. We’ve known each other for so long now – and the show is about warmth and family – because we are. It’s great\, really great.” \n\n\n\nWalsh was joined by his three mates and the Barry Robinson Big Band for a one-off show at the Palladium in London in March\, and the idea was born for a full-on Prat Pack tour.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £55.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 22 April to Wednesday 23 April 2025 \n\n\n\nTuesday at 7.30pm and Wednesday at 8.00pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
