This is a fun and exciting opportunity to see the wonderful dancers across all levels of the school\, in celebration of their hard work in ballet and dance training. Through a dynamic blend of movement\, autobiographical narrative\, conversation\, and experimentation\, both companies will share newly devised material\, insights\, and creative processes\, offering a rare glimpse into how groundbreaking dance theatre is made. \n\n\n\n201 Dance Company is renowned for its emotionally charged\, socially responsive productions that tackle pressing issues with honesty and originality\, led by Artistic Director Andrea Walker. From 2021-2023\, Andrea spent a prolonged period back in his birth country of Italy\, caring for his mother\, whose health had been deteriorating slowly after a long battle with cancer.  \n\n\n\nWith a limited amount of time\, certainty\, and physical ability\, the relationship of mother and son\, and what it means to live for both of them\, is brought to the forefront: raising powerful questions about autonomy\, identity\, and the forces that shape us. \n\n\n\nThe Remarkable Dance Company (affectionately known as the Remarkables) are The Mill’s dance company for over-50s drawn from Banbury and surrounding areas. DESCRIPTION:Ballet Black: Shadows\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Ballet Black: Shadows\n\n\n\nNow in its 23rd year\, Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black makes its return to The Playhouse with an exciting new double bill including Pancho’s darkly comic adaptation of Oyinkan Braithwaite’s international bestselling novel\, My Sister\, The Serial Killer. \n\n\n\nWhen Korede gets a distress call from her sister Ayoola\, she knows what to do: bleach\, rubber gloves\, nerves of steel\, and a strong stomach. It’s the third boyfriend Ayoola has killed in “self-defense\,” and the third mess Korede has to clean up.  \n\n\n\nShe should probably go to the police\, but family comes first. Things take a turn when Ayoola begins dating the doctor Korede secretly loves\, forcing Korede to choose between saving him and betraying her sister. \n\n\n\nThe double bill is completed by Brooklyn-born\, award-winning choreographer Chanel DaSilva\, making her British choreographic debut.
