SUMMARY:TWAWSI: The World As We See it
DESCRIPTION:TWAWSI: The World As We See it\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout TWAWSI: The World As We See it\n\n\n\nHuman life is fleeting\, the world is still unfolding… \n\n\n\nRedefining dance from the African Diaspora\, ACE dance and music’s new double bill presents two powerful contrasting visions of our world today. \n\n\n\nEchoes of Dust \n\n\n\nChoreographed by Serge Aimé Coulibaly with creative contributions Sigué Sayouba \n\n\n\nWhen the world trembles\, what remains of our humanity? When all seems lost\, what hope can we still hold on to? \n\n\n\nIn a world torn apart by war\, disaster and the invisible collapse of human connection; seven individuals find themselves stranded in the heart of chaos. Confronting the remnants of a shattered world\, stripped of certainty and memory they stumble\, fight\, and protest; with each encounter\, a voice is reclaimed. \n\n\n\nLetlalo \n\n\n\nChoreographed by Vincent Mantsoe  \n\n\n\nLetlalo\, meaning “Skin” in Mantsoe’s native tongue ‘Sotho’\, draws from African\, Indigenous\, and contemporary dance languages to explore the deep connection between humanity and the earth. \n\n\n\nRooted in ancestral wisdom and inspired by nomadic cultures\, the performance reflects on the quiet strength of communities living in harmony. \n\n\n\nIt examines the layers beneath the surface\, exploring the true essence of the human spirit\, while evoking themes of power\, unity\, serenity\, and interconnectedness. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Technically masterful\, emotionally charged\, and performed by dancers working at the absolute height of their craft.” ★★★★★ \n\n\n\nLondon Pub Theatres \n\n\n\n\n\n“Intense and Powerful.” \n\n\n\nSwitch Radio \n\n\n\n\n\n“A most enjoyable evening of dance from a remarkable company.” \n\n\n\nSeeingDance \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nOnline booking for this event opens at 12.00pm on Friday 11 September 2026. \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 20 March 2027 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour 40 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance:  \n\n\n\n7+ \n\n\n\nWarning: \n\n\n\nThis show contains haze and a strobe light during the first five minutes of the performance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.
