SUMMARY:Ballet Black at 25
DESCRIPTION:Ballet Black at 25\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Ballet Black at 25\n\n\n\nCassa Pancho’s Ballet Black celebrates its 25th Anniversary with a much-anticipated return to Oxford Playhouse. \n\n\n\nFor 25 years\, Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black has brought bold new ballet to stages across the UK\, creating and sharing original stories with dancers from around the world. This anniversary season celebrates a quarter of a century of innovation\, mentoring and collaboration\, while looking ahead to the future. \n\n\n\nThis landmark double bill features Ingoma (2019)\, the choreographic debut of former Company dancer\, Mthuthuzeli November. A joyful new commission from Alvin Ailey royalty Hope Boykin\, a two-time Bessie Award winner\, making her UK choreographic debut. Boykin\, who says “I make work and create environments from personal and lived experiences”\, creates a celebratory piece especially for Ballet Black’s 25th year – a vibrant tribute to the company’s journey and a bold look towards its future. \n\n\n\nAudiences can expect Ballet Black’s signature blend of powerful storytelling\, striking choreography and rich global influences\, in a programme that honours the past while celebrating the future. \n\n\n\nFor 25 years\, Ballet Black has transformed the landscape of British ballet – creating vital opportunities for dancers and artists of Black and Asian descent\, while building a repertoire that resonates with audiences around the world. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“These dancers are a force to be reckoned with.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“Dazzling double bill brings forth resistance and hope.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Guardian \n\n\n\n\n\n“Ballet Black consistently brings new and exciting work to Oxford Playhouse.”  \n\n\n\nOxford Dance Writers \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £15.00   \n\n\n\nA £2.75 booking fee per transaction applies to this event across all channels – website\, phone and in-person bookings at the Box Office. SUMMARY:London City Ballet - Momentum
DESCRIPTION:London City Ballet – Momentum\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout London City Ballet – Momentum\n\n\n\nReborn and returning for 2025… \n\n\n\nLondon City Ballet\, the former resident company of Sadler’s Wells\, returns after a staggering inaugural year that included a global tour through Asia\, America\, and Europe. \n\n\n\nPerforming with the company in Oxford will be celebrated ballerina\, Alina Cojocaru. \n\n\n\nIn keeping with London City Ballet’s ethos of bringing to the stage rarely seen works\, we present George Balanchine’s Haieff Divertimento – an early work by the master choreographer originally dubbed lost for 40 years after its premiere and to this day remaining unseen outside the USA.  \n\n\n\nAlexei Ratmansky\, New York City Ballet’s artist in residence\, is a leading light on the global dance scene. ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’\, to Modest Mussorgsky’s eponymous score\, is set against a backdrop depicting Wassily Kandinsky’s best-known masterpieces. Here\, the dancers truly bring the art to life.  \n\n\n\nUnseen in the UK since its 2009 premiere\, Consolations & Liebestraum by Liam Scarlett is a response to Franz Liszt’s piano score of the same name. Scarlett’s affecting ballet depicts the lifecycle of a relationship\, its blossoming and later fracturing love. \n\n\n\nEmerging choreographer\, Florent Melac\, best known as a Premier Danseur at the Paris Opera Ballet\, creates a new work for the company in a unique\, fluid\, musical style which combines inventive transitions with intimate partnering. \n\n\n\nJoin London City Ballet as it builds momentum and continues forging a path to Theatres across the world.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAwards\n\n\n\n\nThe Guardian Best Dance of 2024 List \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Times The Best of The Arts 2024 List \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat the critics say \n\n\n\n\n“London City Ballet is wide awake and back in business.” \n\n\n\nThe Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“…a glorious revival.” \n\n\n\nThe Guardian \n\n\n\n\n\n“An astute mix of revivals and new work.” \n\n\n\nThe Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“…leaves an indelible mark on the mind.” \n\n\n\nBristol Post \n\n\n\n\n\n“…rings with the clarity of perfection.” \n\n\n\nStage Talk \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £35.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 11 November 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour 40 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
