SUMMARY:Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025 will take place from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18 October 2025. The fair will open from 3.00pm to 11.00pm on Wednesday\, Thursday\, and Friday\, and from noon to 9.00pm on the Sunday. \n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas fair has been a fixture of the life of the town for hundreds of years. The annual attraction will run as a four day event this year\, thanks to a one year trial being agreed with the council following a request from the funfair organisers. \n\n\n\nThe fair was a hiring fair\, the equivalent of today’s employment agencies and online job websites. During what used to be known as the Mop Fair\, local tradesmen\, craftsmen\, labourers\, farmers and servants came into town to look for new employment. \n\n\n\nBack in those days\, seasonal employment ran from October to October\, so everyone came into town with high hopes of gaining a new employer and securing their income for the year ahead. \n\n\n\nIn keeping with a tradition that dates back centuries\, the Town Mayor will join the Chairman of Cherwell District Council to open proceedings in front of the Town Hall. He\, or she\, will touch a ‘Golden Key’ against certain attractions to grant free rides for attending children.

SUMMARY:Abingdon Runaway Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Abingdon Runaway Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe fair for “runaways” who wanted a different master \n\n\n\nThe Abingdon Runaway Fair is a smaller funfair that takes place on the Monday\, one week after the Abingdon Michaelmas Fair in October. \n\n\n\nThe origin of the fair lies in the tradition of championing the rights of the common man. This hiring fair was held specifically so that farmworkers and others who had been hired at the earlier Michaelmas Fair and had found their new master cruel or the conditions intolerable could quite literally “run away”\, i.e. return back to the town for another try at finding suitable paid work before the winter set in. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

SUMMARY:BunkFest 2025
DESCRIPTION:Wallingford BunkFest\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout BunkFest 2025\n\n\n\nOn the banks of the Thames in South Oxfordshire\, Wallingford BunkFest is a free-access community festival providing a unique\, family-friendly celebration with something for everyone. \n\n\n\nIn 2025\, BunkFest celebrates its 23rd year of life – starting from a small marquee in a pub car park to filling the KineCroft and providing entertainment throughout Wallingford\, on the River Thames and the Bunk Railway line. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBunkFest 2025 lineup\n\n\n\nBunkFest 2025 lineup is yet to be announced. But in the meantime here’s some information from 2024 to give you a flavour of what to expect. \n\n\n\nFriday Headline Act: BaskeryBaskery is Greta\, Stella and Sunniva Bondesson\, a trio of sisters from Stockholm\, Sweden. The band’s motto\, to go where the music takes them\, has created organic growth\, and their energetic and diverse live shows have made them an attractive and sought-after live band. \n\n\n\nThey’ve been handpicked as support act for Gary Clark Jr\, Robbie Williams\, Seth Lakeman\, Lukas Nelson and Brandi Carlile and have appeared at festivals in the UK — Glastonbury\, Shrewsbury Folk\, Solfest\, Shambala and worldwide. \n\n\n\nIn 2022\, they teamed up with producer Sean Lakeman (The Levellers\, Billy Bragg\, Imelda May) in a timeless Devon hideaway studio\, far from any distractions\, to record their fifth album. The collaboration was mutually inspiring\, resulting in a diverse sound landscape. \n\n\n\nFriday other acts:Split The Dealer / C U Tuesday / The Dunwells / The Cornermen \n\n\n\nSaturday Headline Act: GenoGeno originates from Evansville in Indiana\, USA and first came to England in the 1960s as part of the US Air Force. His love of Blues and Soul music soon found him jamming with local bands in and around Ipswich and eventually led him to London where he caused a sensation singing with top R&B acts Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames and Zoot Money’s Big Roll Band at the legendary Flamingo Club in Soho. The rest\, as they say\, is history. \n\n\n\nGeno teamed up with some of London’s hottest musicians and Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band very quickly became established as the most exciting live band in Britain\, regularly topping the bill over World famous artists\, as nobody in their right mind wanted to go on stage after a Geno show! \n\n\n\nSaturday other acts:The Mysteries / Steve Morano / Chrome Horse diplomats / Maff and The Magictones / Offbeat / Far From The City \n\n\n\nSunday headliner: DS:UKDire Straits is one of the most beloved bands in UK Rock History and Mark Knopfler is one of the most respected songwriters and guitarists of our time – penning an incredible legacy of classic music that still gets more radio airtime than most. \n\n\n\nDS:UK began touring in 2016 in their loving tribute to this amazing band\, focusing on performing Mark’s music in the way that the fans love it and remember it. That is to say – with an unsurpassed accuracy and affection for the material. \n\n\n\n“DS:UK…in Tribute to Dire Straits” has earned its reputation as the quintessential Dire Straits Experience by presenting a rollercoaster ride of meticulously performed hits and fan favourites that span the 20-odd years of the band’s rein\, peppered with interesting history. \n\n\n\nDS:UK’s festival appearances bring together your favourites including Tunnel of Love\, Heavy Fuel\, Lady Writer\, Twisting by the Pool – and all of the other hits you were expecting to read in this list! You know what they are… \n\n\n\n…. Johnny’s coming with the oldies goldies – be prepared to get a shiver in the dark! \n\n\n\nSunday other acts:Rusty Shackle / Jacki Oates and Jon Wilks / Monkeyfists / RSVP Bhangra / NewBees: Wallingford’s up-and-coming new artists \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets (2025 TBC)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see camping information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\nIn addition to the main stage\, BunkFest has a fabulous range of fringe venues you can visit throughout the festival\, which range from musical boats and singing trains to fantastic local pubs and a quirky bookshop. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCamping\n\n\n\nBunkFest camping is located at the Wallingford Sports Park\, Hithercroft Road\, Wallingford\, OX10 9RB.
