SUMMARY:Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025 will take place from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18 October 2025. The fair will open from 3.00pm to 11.00pm on Wednesday\, Thursday\, and Friday\, and from noon to 9.00pm on the Sunday. \n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas fair has been a fixture of the life of the town for hundreds of years. The annual attraction will run as a four day event this year\, thanks to a one year trial being agreed with the council following a request from the funfair organisers. \n\n\n\nThe fair was a hiring fair\, the equivalent of today’s employment agencies and online job websites. During what used to be known as the Mop Fair\, local tradesmen\, craftsmen\, labourers\, farmers and servants came into town to look for new employment. \n\n\n\nBack in those days\, seasonal employment ran from October to October\, so everyone came into town with high hopes of gaining a new employer and securing their income for the year ahead. \n\n\n\nIn keeping with a tradition that dates back centuries\, the Town Mayor will join the Chairman of Cherwell District Council to open proceedings in front of the Town Hall. He\, or she\, will touch a ‘Golden Key’ against certain attractions to grant free rides for attending children.

SUMMARY:Abingdon Runaway Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Abingdon Runaway Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe fair for “runaways” who wanted a different master \n\n\n\nThe Abingdon Runaway Fair is a smaller funfair that takes place on the Monday\, one week after the Abingdon Michaelmas Fair in October. \n\n\n\nThe origin of the fair lies in the tradition of championing the rights of the common man. This hiring fair was held specifically so that farmworkers and others who had been hired at the earlier Michaelmas Fair and had found their new master cruel or the conditions intolerable could quite literally “run away”\, i.e. return back to the town for another try at finding suitable paid work before the winter set in. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

SUMMARY:Abingdon Michaelmas Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Abingdon Michaelmas Fair 2024\n\n\n\nAbingdon Michaelmas Fair takes place annually on the Monday and Tuesday falling first before the 11 October from noon to 11.00pm on both days. This will fall on Monday 06 and Tuesday 07 October 2025. \n\n\n\nThe Michaelmas Fair is the longest street fair in Europe\, running from Market Place\, through the High Street\, The Square and the entire length of Ock Street. \n\n\n\nThis historic street fair has its origins in the shortage of labour following the Black Death of 1348/9. The Fair was a hiring fair\, the equivalent of today’s employment agencies and online job websites. \n\n\n\nThe Michaelmas Fair starts setting up on Sunday\, after which there are road closures and diversions to enable the traditional street fair to take place. There are also closures and diversions the following week for the Runaway Fair. \n\n\n\nAs with previouse years\, to mark the start of the Fairs\, we expect the Town Council will be organising the traditional Fairground Service of Blessing and Dedication to take place at 7.00pm on Sunday 05 October 2025 on the Galloping Horses in the Market Place. \n\n\n\nAll are very welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

See inside the workshops and showrooms at the freshly restored historic buildings of the former RAF Bicester\, explore the unique site and take in its evocative atmosphere. Expect to find plenty of automotive displays\, food stalls\, workshops and showrooms to explore\, an eclectic mix of cars and a great family-focused automotive experience. \n\n\n\nTaking place on a Sunday morning\, this event encourages historic motoring enthusiasts to get involved and bring their pre-1990 vehicles to join the eclectic display. From commercials to motorcycles\, pre-War\, veterans and modern classics\, the mix is astonishing and ever-changing. Nestled between the 1920s RAF buildings and tree-lined avenues\, this location has a film-set quality and a truly unique buzz. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGallery\n\n\n\nClick images to expand

This year\, Sunday’s family afternoon offers a new way to enjoy the Feast together before the main fair days. \n\n\n\nCelebrated for its size and unique attractions\, Witney Feast proudly holds the title of Oxfordshire’s largest funfair\, blending centuries of heritage with modern thrills and entertainment for all ages. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect \n\n\n\nStar Flyer\, Space\, Superstar\, Extreme\, Jumping Frogs\, Dominator\, Stargate – these are some of the rides you’re likely to encounter at Witney Feast in 2025. \n\n\n\nIt’s set to be a spectacular event.
