SUMMARY:Royal Ballet and Opera: Ballet to Broadway - Wheeldon Works
DESCRIPTION:Royal Ballet and Opera: Ballet to Broadway – Wheeldon Works\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Royal Ballet and Opera: Ballet to Broadway – Wheeldon Works\n\n\n\nFool’s Paradise \n\n\n\nLuminescent and shimmering\, Fool’s Paradise marked the first of Wheeldon’s many collaborations with composer Joby Talbot. It was created in 2007 for Wheeldon’s own company\, Morphoses\, and first performed in 2012 by The Royal Ballet. \n\n\n\nThe Two Of Us \n\n\n\nThe wistful songs of Joni Mitchell set the scene for the UK premiere of The Two of Us\, a duet of deep intimacy and yearning. It was created in 2020 for the Fall for Dance Festival in New York\, and had American ballet dancers Sarah Mearns and David Hallberg in its original cast. \n\n\n\nUs (Duet) \n\n\n\nUs is a tender duet danced by two men. It was created in 2017 for BalletBoyz and is set to Keaten Henson’s music. \n\n\n\nAn American In Paris (Ballet) \n\n\n\nThe Royal Ballet celebrates Wheeldon’s extraordinary success in musical theatre by performing the ballet scene from his Tony Award-winning musical An American in Paris. Set to Gershwin’s jazzy melodies\, the musical is inspired by the 1951 film of the same name starring Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. The musical went on to win four Tony awards. \n\n\n\nThe full musical depicts a blossoming romance between the American G.I. Jerry Mulligan and a French ballerina\, Lise Dassin. The ballet excerpt was Wheeldon’s take on one of the most memorable scenes from the film – an extended sequence in which the two central characters dance through Paris. \n\n\n\nCast: \n\n\n\nTo be confirmed \n\n\n\nCreatives: \n\n\n\nChoreography Christopher Wheeldon \n\n\n\nConductor Koen Kessels \n\n\n\nOrchestra Orchestra of the Royal Opera House \n\n\n\nMusic: \n\n\n\nJoby Talbot \n\n\n\nJoni Mitchell \n\n\n\nKeaton Henson \n\n\n\nGeorge Gershwhin \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nGeneral – £18.50 \n\n\n\nUnder 16s – £13.50 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 22 May 2025 at 7.15pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n3 hours \n\n\n\nFilm rating: \n\n\n\n12A \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. However\, a new opportunity arises when Richard’s natural talent for drama catches the attention of his teacher\, Philip Burton (BAFTA winner Toby Jones). \n\n\n\nTaking Richard under his wing\, the young man thrives thanks to Philip’s strict tutelage and the guidance of kindly landlady\, Ma Smith (Academy Award nominee Lesley Manville). However\, as the acting world comes within Richard’s reach\, the burden of his past risks holding him back forever. \n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nGeneral – £11.00 \n\n\n\nUnder 16s – £8.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 08 May 2025 at 10.00am and 11.15am \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 02 minutes \n\n\n\nFilm rating: \n\n\n\n12A \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony.
