Now a Waterperry Opera Festival annual Christmas tradition\, our Messiah by Candlelight concerts have delighted sold-out audiences since 2021. Exquisite evenings await you\, surrounded by candlelight and festive decorations with an ensemble of renowned singers and period instrumentalists. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Snowman (by Howard Blake)\n\n\n\n09 and 10 December at 2.00pm and 4.00pm \n\n\n\nWaterperry’s Winter Festival will present a Christmas production of The Snowman\, featuring Howard Blake’s iconic music. The cherished soundtrack\, known for its role in Channel 4’s 1982 film\, including the timeless “Walking in the Air\,” will take centre stage in a new live-staged performance in the ballroom under the impressive Waterperry Christmas Tree. This festive event is a must-attend for families and a delightful introduction to classical music for children. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Easy Rollers Christmas Jazz Concert\n\n\n\n07 December at 7.00pm​ \n\n\n\nCelebrated Jazz Ensemble\, The Easy Rollers\, are stopping off at Waterperry House for one night only to perform a bespoke programme of Christmas Jazz and Crooner classics in the beautiful surroundings of the Waterperry Ballroom. The repertoire will include many familiar favourites such as Have Yourself A Merry Christmas\, Santa Baby\, and Let It Snow. DESCRIPTION:The eight singers in the public final of the Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers’ Competition 2023\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the public final of Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers’ Competition 2023\n\n\n\nAfter an exciting first round of the Bampton Classical Opera Young Singers’ Competition 2023 in London on 28 and 29 October\, eight singers have been chosen for the public final in the Leonard Wolfson Auditorium\, Wolfson College\, Linton Road\, Oxford\, on 25 November at 6.00pm.  \n\n\n\nThe eight finalists (pictured above from left to right\, top to bottom) are: \n\n\n\n\nSarah Chae soprano\n\n\n\nAleksandra Dunaeva soprano\n\n\n\nMelissa Gregory mezzo-soprano\n\n\n\nRhydian Jenkins tenor\n\n\n\nGeorgie Malcolm soprano\n\n\n\nDan D’Souza baritone\n\n\n\nMyrna Tennant mezzo-soprano\n\n\n\nKieron-Connor Valentine countertenor\n\n\n\n\nThe public final is always an entertaining and thrilling event and a chance to hear some remarkable performances. Each finalist will present a programme of around 15 minutes. \n\n\n\nJudges for the competition include the internationally renowned British singers tenor Bonaventura Bottone and mezzo-soprano Jean Rigby.  \n\n\n\nThey are joined by the esteemed vocal coach\, pianist and accompanist Ingrid Surgenor\, who is the senior coach at Glyndebourne Festival Opera\, the Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House\, Covent Garden and principal opera coach at the Royal Academy of Music. For many years\, she was the official accompanist to the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. \n\n\n\nThe winner will receive a cash prize of £2\,000\, and the runner-up £1\,000. The first theatre was built in 1836\, and a second in 1886. It is now owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group and hosts everything from ballet and opera to musicals. \n\n\n\nOn performance days\, the Box Office opens at noon and closes 15 minutes after the show starts. If there is a performance on a Sunday or Bank Holiday\, Box Office will open 2 hours before the show begins and close 15 minutes after the show starts. \n\n\n\nThere is a large air-conditioned bar with seating located below the Stalls Foyer\, two further bars in the Circle Foyer and an additional one at the back of the balcony.
