SUMMARY:Seussical

SUMMARY:Welsh National Opera - Rigoletto
DESCRIPTION:Welsh National Opera – Rigoletto\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Welsh National Opera – Rigoletto\n\n\n\nDepravity and deceit: a life disintegrating… \n\n\n\nStep into the raucous court of the Duke of Mantua\, where Rigoletto\, the court jester\, uses vicious wit to conceal his tormented heart. In a world teetering on the edge of debauchery and deceit\, his only joy is his daughter\, Gilda.  \n\n\n\nWhen the charming but womanising Duke sets his sights on Gilda\, his actions set in motion a tragic chain of events where a father’s love and treachery collide in a crescendo of passion and heartbreak. \n\n\n\nWelsh National Opera\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSet against the backdrop of a decadent and ruthless court\, this heart-wrenching tale explores the intricate web of love\, betrayal\, and the consequences of power.  \n\n\n\nVerdi wrote that Rigoletto was his best opera. With its rich tapestry of emotions and unforgettable melodies\, including opera’s most famous quartet and the instantly recognisable ‘La donna è mobile’\, it’s easy to see why it transcends time and continues to resonate long after the curtain falls. \n\n\n\nSung in Italian\, with English surtitles. \n\n\n\nConductor Pietro Rizzo. \n\n\n\nDirector Adele Thomas. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee. \n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDates & times:Thursday 24 October at 7.300pmSaturday 26 October at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDuration:2 hours 45 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance:16+ \n\n\n\nWarning:Contains sex and violence and other scenes that some people might find upsetting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
SUMMARY:Death In Venice by Welsh National Opera
DESCRIPTION:Death In Venice by Welsh National Opera at New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Death In Venice by Welsh National Opera\n\n\n\nWould you pursue love for inspiration? \n\n\n\nIn the search for beauty and meaning\, the renowned author Gustav von Aschenbach travels to Venice on a whim.  \n\n\n\nIn the sultry atmosphere of a cholera epidemic\, with the scirocco blowing\, he falls in love with Tadzio\, a youthful aristocrat who is staying in the same hotel with his family.  \n\n\n\nAs Aschenbach projects his loneliness and desire on him\, fantasy and imagination intermingle with existence. His obsession progresses to a fever pitch as he becomes increasingly divorced from reality. \n\n\n\nInspired by the original Thomas Mann novella\, Britten’s magnificently atmospheric opera comes to life in this new production from WNO\, creating images of ravishing beauty and exploring the grotesque hidden beneath the search for the sublime. \n\n\n\nAs poetic worlds of the imagination collide with reality\, the early 20th century acts as a mirror to our times. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nPrices:From £13.00Tickets are subject to a transaction fee \n\n\n\nDates & times:Doors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance:Under 16s must be accompanied by an adultNo under 5s will be admitted into the venue. \n\n\n\nDuration: 2 hours 40 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGood to know\n\n\n\n\nViewing and Sound quality may be significantly affected on stalls rows H and J due to the position of the orchestra. \n\n\n\nSurtitles may not be visible from stalls row V to Z due to the overhang of the circle.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years. DESCRIPTION:Welsh National Opera – Candide at New THeatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Welsh National Opera – Candide\n\n\n\nLeonard Bernstein’s Candide is a supercharged wild ride in which 18th-century France crashes into 20th-century post-war America. \n\n\n\nTake a seat and strap in tight for a mind-boggling journey that hurtles through a fantastical world of chaos – from castles in the Alps to skyscrapers in Montevideo\, from earthquakes in Lisbon to the Amazonian jungles beyond the Andes.  \n\n\n\nWith societies riven by inequality and families displaced by war today\, the story remains as relevant now as when it was first written in 1759. \n\n\n\nFrom Bernstein’s compositional brilliance to the razor wit of Dorothy Parker\, Candide is an ebullient romp that pulls together the best of Broadway\, the champagne froth of operetta and the timeless satire of Voltaire’s original novella.  \n\n\n\nWNO’s new production welcomes an award-winning team\, who won the National French Critics’ award in 2022 for their production of The Snow Queen\, and brings this zany\, imaginative world to life and up to date with music\, animation\, dance and political bite. \n\n\n\nSung in English \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important ticketing information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTicketing information\n\n\n\nPrices: From £13.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee \n\n\n\nWarning: Contains anachronistic themes and language that some people may find upsetting \n\n\n\nRunning time: TBC \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
