SUMMARY:The Cherry Orchard
DESCRIPTION:The Cherry Orchard\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Cherry Orchard\n\n\n\nBy Anton Chekhov \n\n\n\nAdapted and Directed by Harry Brook \n\n\n\nTranslated by Esmé Buzzard \n\n\n\n“Life goes on like I never even lived it.” \n\n\n\nLyubov Ranevskaya rejects a proposal from a familiar face to protect the family estate. Whilst she fights to preserve her idyllic childhood\, the whole Gaev family is forced to confront their past and its future.  \n\n\n\nThe cherry orchard holds their memories\, their dreams\, and their struggles. Will they find a way to preserve their way of life\, or will they lose everything they hold dear? \n\n\n\nAnton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard is a masterpiece of theatrical tragicomedy. Presented by student theatre company An Exciting New\, Chekhov’s final play examines a society on the brink of collapse as past and future collide. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDates & Times:Wednesday 24 January at 7.30pmThursday 25 January at 2.30pm and 7.30pmFriday 26 January at 8.00pmSaturday 27 January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: 14+This production contains strong language\, mild physical violence\, reference to child death. \n\n\n\nDuration:160 minutes\, including an interval. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.
