SUMMARY:The Odyssiad
DESCRIPTION:The Odyssiad\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Odyssiad\n\n\n\nBy Alex Thomas \n\n\n\nA Magdalen College School Drama Production \n\n\n\n1200 BC. A woman waits and watches the sea from a clifftop. She is Penelope\, the wife of Odysseus\, who has yet to return from the Trojan War after ten years. Their son\, Telemachus\, wonders whether he will ever be able to fill his legendary father’s place. \n\n\n\n1902. A young Cambridge student\, Winifred Kennedy\, digs in the ruins of Mycenae\, the heartland of ancient Greece\, under the stern and watchful eye of archaeologist Henry Allen. Teddy\, his son\, loathes everything about the ancient world\, so Winifred takes it upon herself to bring the past alive for him\, drawing father and son closer together. \n\n\n\nHer vivid story-telling takes us back three thousand years to the epic world of Homer’s immortal tales\, The Iliad and The Odyssey\, where great warriors clash in single combat\, and a city’s fate hangs in the balance. Odysseus’s perilous journey home after the war is one of the greatest adventure stories ever told. \n\n\n\nWith a powerful rock-inspired musical score\, including original songs and electrifying choreography\, this new telling of the Homeric epics is a true spectacle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDates & times:Thursday 27 June at 7.00pmFriday 28 June at 7.00pmSaturday 29 June at 2.30pm and 7.00pm \n\n\n\nPrices:Adult – 16.00Child – £11.00 \n\n\n\nAge guidance: 7+ \n\n\n\nDuration: 120 munites\, including an interval. \n\n\n\nContent warning:This show contains violence (within the context of battle)\, strobe lighting\, gunshots and smoking. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Where Is Mrs Christie
DESCRIPTION:Where Is Mrs Christie?\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Where Is Mrs Christie\n\n\n\nAgatha Christie was one of the greatest thriller writers of all time and certainly the most prolific. \n\n\n\nIn 1926\, she was at the centre of a mystery as perplexing as any of her fiction\, a series of events which sparked one of the biggest and most extensive police hunts in history. \n\n\n\nHer crashed car was discovered in Surrey\, and the famous author was missing\, presumed dead by many\, for eleven days. However\, she was eventually found at a luxury hotel in Harrogate. \n\n\n\nShe claimed then\, and for the rest of her life\, that she was suffering from amnesia and remembered nothing. Neither the press nor the police believed her. \n\n\n\nActor Liz Grand presents her one-woman show ‘Where Is Mrs Christie?’ Did she suffer from amnesia? Was it a publicity stunt? Or was there a darker secret involved? In true thriller style\, all will be revealed. \n\n\n\n“Liz Grand’s performance in the title role is compelling. So persuasive is she that we the audience become co-conspirators. \n\n\n\n“Her Mrs. Christie is irresistibly engaging\, vulnerable\, confiding and ultimately indomitable in her strength of spirit. \n\n\n\n“It is a master-class in nuanced delivery and dramatic timing\, deliberately tantalising …. and designed for spot-on period fidelity.” The Stage \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n★★★★★ “Chris Jaeger’s roller-coaster account of the mysterious disappearance of the high priestess of mystery is a gripping piece of theatre\, with Liz Grand bringing his words to life with a stunning portrayal of a woman who\, for once\, seems to have temporarily lost the plot.” \nWorcester News\n\n\n\n\n★★★★★ “The success (of the show) rests on the shoulders of a single person\, and Liz Grand was superb in the role\, creating a totally believable and likeable character.” \nChoice Radio\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices include a £1.00 Restoration Levy\, a £1.25 Booking Fee and a 25p Community Fund Levy. \n\n\n\nRunning time: 1 hour 30 minutes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Kenton Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nSituated in the centre of Henley-on-Thames\, the Kenton Theatre is the fourth-oldest working theatre in the UK and a registered charity. SUMMARY:The Importance Of Being Earnest
DESCRIPTION:The Importance of Being Earnest by Oxford Theatre Guild\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Importance of Being Earnest by Oxford Theatre Guild\n\n\n\nBy Oscar Wilde \n\n\n\n“The truth is rarely pure and never simple…” \n\n\n\nBest friends and fashionable young men\, Algernon Moncrieff and Jack Worthing\, seem to have hit upon the perfect ruse to escape their social responsibilities. They lead double lives – one in the city and one in the country. But when love enters the mix\, confusion reigns. Into these choppy waters sails the formidable Lady Bracknell… \n\n\n\nOxford Theatre Guild present Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy for the very first time – updating the action to the roaring 1920s\, where the young are determined to escape the strait-laced attitudes of the previous Edwardian era and embrace freedom and frivolity. \n\n\n\nOne of Oscar Wilde’s most enduringly popular plays\, The Importance of Being Earnest features some of his best-loved characters\, including Lady Bracknell\, Miss Prism\, Jack Worthing and Gwendolen Fairfax. A razor-sharp satire of snobbery and class distinctions\, and an evening of hilarious misunderstandings. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDates & Times:Tuesday 16 April at 7.30pmWednesday 17 April at 7.30pmThursday 18 April at 7.30pmFriday 19 April at 8.00pmSaturday 20 April at 2.30pm and 7.30pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: 12+ \n\n\n\nDuration:120 minutes\, including an interval.
