SUMMARY:Abingdon Drama Club presents Things I Know to Be True
DESCRIPTION:Abingdon Drama Club presents Things I Know to Be True by Andrew Bovell\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Abingdon Drama Club presents Things I Know to Be True by Andrew Bovell\n\n\n\nAbingdon Drama Club is proud to present ‘Things I Know to Be True’ by acclaimed Australian playwright Andrew Bovell — a beautifully observed and deeply moving exploration of family\, love\, and identity. \n\n\n\nAt the heart of the play are Bob and Fran\, devoted parents who have worked their fingers to the bone to provide for their four children. With their children now grown\, it may finally be time to slow down and tend to their beloved garden — and perhaps enjoy the fruits of their labour. \n\n\n\nBut as the seasons change\, so too does the landscape of their family life. Long-held assumptions are challenged\, expectations unravel\, and shattering truths emerge\, forcing each member of the family to confront who they are — and what they mean to one another. \n\n\n\nTold through the eyes of the four adult siblings\, Things I Know To Be True is as tender as it is bold. Each child struggles to define themselves beyond the powerful pull of parental love and expectation. As they pursue independence\, they must also navigate the enduring bonds that both sustain and constrain them. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Abingdon Drama Club presents Things I Know to Be True by Andrew Bovell\n\n\n\nPoetic\, humorous\, and brutally frank\, the play is a complex and intense study of the mechanics of a family — a story that resonates with anyone who has ever loved\, lost\, or longed to be understood. \n\n\n\nBovell’s writing captures the quiet heroism of ordinary lives while asking profound questions: Can love ever be too much? And what does it truly mean to let go? \n\n\n\nAbingdon Drama Club’s production promises an emotionally rich and compelling theatrical experience that will leave audiences reflecting on their own families long after the curtain falls. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nStandard – £15.00 \n\n\n\nConcessions – £12.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a booking fee\, and can be purchased online or from The Bookstore \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPlease note: The production was rescheduled from Wednesday 25 to Saturday 28 March 2026.

SUMMARY:The Magic Tower
DESCRIPTION:The Magic Tower \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Magic Tower \n\n\n\nUniversity of Oxford Student Season: Trinity Term 2026 \n\n\n\nBy Tennessee Williams \n\n\n\n“Make-believe? Of course it isn’t! It’s absolutely real.” \n\n\n\nLinda and Jim live in a run-down garret. They have made the room into their refuge\, a hidey-hole from landladies and late bills. Together they imagine magical forests\, laugh among their unpacked boxes\, safe in their room\, curtains closed. But when Jim leaves in pursuit of his big break\, the tower begins to crumble. \n\n\n\nThis is Tennessee Williams’ rarely staged one-act play. Distilling his rich characterisation into under an hour\, it powerfully lays bare how economic realities come knocking and escapism is nothing but a thin\, flimsy sheet. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£6.00 to £8.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 26 to Saturday 30 May 2026 at 9.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n45 minutes \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nBurton Taylor Studio \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n12+ \n\n\n\nContent guidance: \n\n\n\nThis show contains themes of emotional distress and allusions to states of poor mental health. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Ulster American
DESCRIPTION:Ulster American \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Ulster American \n\n\n\nBy David IrelandYou’re not supposed to be here… \n\n\n\nJay Conway\, Oscar-winner\, in the cosy London flat of Leigh Carver\, acclaimed director. Two of the arts’ most powerful men. \n\n\n\nThey are waiting for Ruth Davenport\, the “Irish writer” whose play they begin rehearsals for the next morning. \n\n\n\n“Would you mind if I asked you a troubling question?” \n\n\n\nJay and Leigh are aware they are unobserved – their conversation spans racism\, rape\, Alcoholics Anonymous… \n\n\n\nThen Ruth enters. She is not what the men had expected. Secrets come out. True colours begin to show. There will be blood. \n\n\n\nUlster American is a play that has run successfully at Fringe\, West End and Broadway – not without dividing audiences to the point of walk-outs. David Ireland’s black satire will make you laugh\, gasp\, question why you’re laughing\, and laugh some more. \n\n\n\nThis is a conversation you were never supposed to hear. SUMMARY:Where is Mrs Christie?
DESCRIPTION:Where is Mrs Christie?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Where is Mrs Christie?\n\n\n\n‘Where Is Mrs Christie?’ starring Liz Grand \n\n\n\nAgatha Christie was one of the greatest thriller writers of all time and certainly the most prolific. In 1926\, she was at the centre of a mystery as perplexing as any of her fiction\, a series of events which sparked one of the biggest and most extensive police hunts in history. \n\n\n\nHer crashed car was discovered in Surrey and the famous author was missing\, presumed dead by many\, for eleven days. However\, she was eventually found at a luxury hotel in Harrogate. She claimed then\, and for the rest of her life\, that she was suffering from amnesia and remembered nothing. Neither the press nor the police believed her. \n\n\n\nActor Liz Grand presents her one-woman show ‘Where Is Mrs Christie?’ Did she suffer from amnesia? Was it a publicity stunt?
