SUMMARY:British Transplant Games 2025
DESCRIPTION:Various venues across Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBritish Transplant Games 2025\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout British Transplant Games 2025\n\n\n\nOxford is set to host the Westfield Health British Transplant Games\, the flagship event of charity Transplant Sport\, for the first time in 2025. Organised by Transplant Active – formerly known as Transplant Sport – this annual four-day event celebrates transplants\, donors and life. \n\n\n\nThe Games aim to raise awareness of the life-saving benefits of organ transplantation and demonstrate the transformative power of organ donation while encouraging transplant recipients to stay active post-recovery. \n\n\n\nOne of the UK’s biggest multi-sport festivals\, transplanted athletes of all abilities ranging from the age of three to 80 plus\, from over 60 hospital teams across the UK\, will represent their transplant unit in 24 different events with the support of family\, friends\, and volunteers. \n\n\n\nWhat is the British Transplant Games\n\n\n\nThe British Transplant Games are the flagship project of the charity Transplant Active – formerly known as Transplant Sport – and has been in existence for over 40 years since the first “Transplant Olympics” took place in Portsmouth in 1978. \n\n\n\nAt that time\, these Games were an international event that included teams from France\, Greece and even the USA. Since these early beginnings with competitors\, affectionately known as “99 blooming miracles”\, the Games have grown and are held in different cities throughout the UK every year. \n\n\n\nThe British Transplant Games have been staged annually since 1978 in 17 host cities across the UK\, including Portsmouth (1994)\, Edinburgh (2007)\, Belfast (1998) Medway (2012)\, Sheffield (2013)\, Bolton (2014)\, Newcastle Gateshead (2015)\, Liverpool (2016)\, North Lanarkshire (2017)\, Birmingham (2018)\, Newport (2019) and Leeds (2022). \n\n\n\nNowadays\, the British Transplant Games sees up to 2\,500 people of all ages and abilities come together to take part in a wide range of sporting events. They have one crucial thing in common: they have all had life-changing transplants. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProvisional schedule\n\n\n\nWednesday 30 July \n\n\n\nTimeEventLocation5.00pm–7.30pmRegistrationWhite Horse Leisure Centre\n\n\n\nThursday 31 July \n\n\n\nTimeEventLocation10.00am–4.30pmArcheryBlenheim Palace10.00am–4.30pmLive Donor ArcheryBlenheim Palace12.00pm–3.30pmVolleyballIffley Road University of Oxford Sport12.30pm–3.30pmPractice GolfThe Oxfordshire1.30pm–4.30pmSnookerThame Snooker Club1.30pm–3.30pmSquashIffley Road University of Oxford Sport1.30pm–5.00pmChildren’s Table TennisWhite Horse Leisure Centre5.00pm–6.00pmCivic ReceptionBlenheim Palace5.30pm–8.00pmOpening CeremonyBlenheim Palace\n\n\n\nFriday 01 August \n\n\n\nTimeEventLocation10.00am–4.30pmArcheryBlenheim Palace10.00am–4.30pmLive Donor ArcheryBlenheim Palace12.00pm–3.30pmVolleyballIffley Road University of Oxford Sport12.30pm–3.30pmPractice GolfThe Oxfordshire1.30pm–4.30pmSnookerThame Snooker Club1.30pm–3.30pmSquashIffley Road University of Oxford Sport1.30pm–5.00pmChildren’s Table TennisWhite Horse Leisure Centre5.00pm–6.00pmCivic ReceptionBlenheim Palace5.30pm–8.00pmOpening CeremonyBlenheim Palace\n\n\n\nSaturday 02 August \n\n\n\nTimeEventLocation8.30am–12.30pmBadmintonWhite Horse Leisure Centre9.00am–5.30pmBowlsOxford City & County Bowls Club9.30am–12.30pmChildren’s SwimmingLeys Pools and Leisure Centre9.30am–12.30pmLive Donor SwimmingLeys Pools and Leisure Centre9.30am–1.30pm6 A Side FootballThe MGroup Stadium10.00am–3.00pmWalkTilsley Park10.00am–3.00pmChildren’s WalkTilsley Park11.00am–12.30pmChildren’s U5’s ArcheryLeys Pools and Leisure Centre11.00am–12.30pmChildren’s U5’s Long JumpLeys Pools and Leisure Centre11.00am–12.30pmChildren’s U5s Sport StackingLeys Pools and Leisure Centre1.30pm–5.30pmSwimmingLeys Pools and Leisure Centre1.30pm–5.30pmChildren’s BadmintonWhite Horse Leisure Centre1.30pm–4.30pmChildren’s 5 A Side FootballTilsley Park6.30pm–9.00pmRoad RaceBlenheim Palace6.30pm–9.00pmChildren’s Road RaceBlenheim Palace6.30pm–9.00pmLive Donor Road RaceBlenheim Palace7.00pm–9.30pmDonor Run**Please note the Donor Run is an open eventBlenheim Palace\n\n\n\nSunday 03 August \n\n\n\nTimeEventLocation9.30am–4.00pmTennisWhite Horse Leisure Centre9.00am–5.30pmTrack and FieldTilsley Park9.00am–3.30pmChildren’s Track and FieldTilsley Park9.00am–5.30pmLive Donor Track and FieldTilsley Park10.00am–3.00pmPetanqueBlenheim Palace1.30pm–2.00pmHandover Ceremony to 2026 British Transplant Games HostsTilsley Park
