SUMMARY:Tess
DESCRIPTION:Tess by Turtle Key Arts\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Tess\n\n\n\nFollowing the hugely successful sold-out tour in 2024\, Ockham’s Razor\, return to Oxford with Tess\, a groundbreaking\, circus adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s classic novel Tess of the D’Urbervilles. \n\n\n\nAn ensemble of performers weave together Hardy’s words and the extreme physicality of circus to tell this tale of power\, loss and endurance. \n\n\n\nAgainst a backdrop of projections\, the cast wield wooden planks\, climb shifting walls and move through ropes and swathes of linen to evoke the vast landscapes and interior worlds of Hardy’s Wessex. \n\n\n\nIt is a story which still has extraordinary relevance for our times in its incredibly nuanced evocation of female relationships\, sexual desire\, consent\, privilege and poverty. \n\n\n\nThis retelling captures the beauty\, heartbreak and yearning of the novel and draws upon the incredible strength of the circus body to create a Tess as heroic as Hardy intended. \n\n\n\nOckham’s Razor produced by Turtle Key Arts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n★★★★ “Full of joy\, wonder and delight.” \n\n\n\nThe Guardian \n\n\n\n\n\n★★★★ “Captivating and exhilarating\, this production is hypnotic and teeming with physical creativity. SUMMARY:Beauty and the Beast Pantomime by the Launton Village Players
DESCRIPTION:Beauty and the Beast pantomime by the Launton Village Players\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Beauty and the Beast Pantomime by Launton Village Players\n\n\n\nThe Launton Village Players put on a pantomime every February half term in Bicester\, and their next panto will be “Beauty and the Beast” from Wednesday\, 19 to Saturday\, 22 February 2025\, in the Performance Hall at The Cooper School in Bicester. \n\n\n\nAll profits will be donated to the Hummingbird Centre\, a cancer support and therapy centre in Launton that supports anyone on a cancer journey and their loved ones. \n\n\n\nThe organisers have often found that our pantomime is the first introduction many children have to live theatre\, and as such\, they ensure the show is suitable for all ages and hope to attract as many local families as possible. Not only does it help us raise money for good causes\, but it is also a fantastic opportunity to keep your children entertained over half term. \n\n\n\nTo help local families with the cost of living\, the organisers have tickets on sale from Friday\, 11 October\, with family discounts available for all performances. They are also offering a 10% discount if tickets are booked before 31 October – use the code EARLYBIRD at the checkout. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDates & times:Wednesday 19 February at 7.30pmThursday 20 February at 10.30am and 2.30pmFriday 21 February at 2.30pm and 7.30pmSaturday 22 February at 2.30pm and 7.30pm \n\n\n\nThe Thursday morning performance will be a “Relaxed Performance”\, aimed at those who might require a more relaxed environment. The show will be exactly the same but will have some adaptations like low lighting\, low music and open auditorium doors. \n\n\n\nYou can pre-order your programmes as well as pre-show and interval refreshments (including hot and cold drinks\, snacks and ice creams) when you purchase your tickets. \n\n\n\nDoors open 45 minutes before the show\, so come along and enjoy a drink before the show begins. \n\n\n\nYou can buy tickets (if available) up to two hours before each performance starts. After that time\, please come on the door and our Front of House team will accommodate you if there is space. \n\n\n\nAccessible seating:There are 12 accessible step-free seats at floor level at the front of the auditorium for every performance. These seats will have freestanding chairs\, which can be removed to create space for wheelchairs if needed. All other seating is tiered\, and accessed via steps. \n\n\n\nThe performance hall is approximately 170 meters from the car park. If you have any questions or access requirements\, or require a disabled drop off point closer to the hall please contact the organisers on tickets@launtonvillageplayers.org.uk or speak to the Car Park Marshalls on the day. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the organisers\n\n\n\nLaunton Village Players (LVP) is an amateur dramatic group that has been entertaining the local community for many years and is widely supported and often complimented on the magic of its shows. LVP has been the proud winner of several ODN awards. \n\n\n\nAnd it isn’t all about performing on stage! Wonderful comments are often made about the quality of the stage set\, music\, lighting and costumes used in their productions. All are originally created especially for each production by many hard working members.
