DESCRIPTION:How Does It Work\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout How Does It Work\n\n\n\nEver wondered how our ingenious scientific instruments work? \n\n\n\nJoin our volunteers for an afternoon getting hands-on with some of our collections — and see our amazing objects in action. \n\n\n\nAnd if you’re visiting as a family\, why not grab a Light and Space backpack to explore science stories in every gallery? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s on\n\n\n\nLight and Space Backpacks \n\n\n\nExplore science stories with hands-on activities throughout the galleries. \n\n\n\nWe worked with students from Iffley Academy special school and scientists from the Rutherford Appleton Space Lab to design these inclusive SEND-friendly packs that will appeal to children of all ages\, with our SEND (special educational needs and disabilities). \n\n\n\nGet hands-on with real objects \n\n\n\nOur team will show you ingenious scientific devices — so you can get hands-on and experience how they worked in practice. \n\n\n\nFamily Scavenger Hunt Trails \n\n\n\nFrom Spot the Animal to Mission: Morse Code\, discover a world of stories\, puzzles\, and treasures with our Family Scavenger Hunt trails. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFree event; drop-in. \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 26\, Sunday 27 July\, and Saturday 30 August 2025 from 12.00pm to 4.00pm \n\n\n\nSunday 31 August from 2.00pm to 4.00pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n7+ \n\n\n\nAll welcome.
