SUMMARY:Storytelling Training July
DESCRIPTION:Storytelling Training\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Storytelling Training July\n\n\n\nJoin us for our Storytelling trainings. \n\n\n\nTranscription & Editing training \n\n\n\nThursday 09 July 2.00pm – 4.300pm\, online \n\n\n\nLearn the principles of transcription and editing in the Storytelling Evaluation Method – how to turn an audio file into a written story on two sides of A4 that preserves the authentic voice and key insights of the storyteller. \n\n\n\nInstead of relying on tick-box feedback forms or rating experiences on a scale of 1-10\, Storytelling invites people to sit down for an hour or two and tell their story of being involved in a project. \n\n\n\nThese conversations are recorded\, transcribed\, and edited into two-page documents that preserve the storytellers’ own voice and words. Once we have a collection of stories\, we facilitate a group discussion to identify what can be learned from them. \n\n\n\nStorytelling helps us to do justice to the messiness of people’s lives in a way that tick boxes and feedback forms never can. It helps us to listen\, it’s a meaningful and collaborative process\, and it brings to light rich\, human stories that we can learn from. \n\n\n\nSince 2017 we’ve worked with over 250 local and national partners and counting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n\nStandard £250.00\n\n\n\nPay more £300.00\n\n\n\nPay less £150.00\n\n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 30 minutes \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPlease note the attendee will be contacted with a link to join a week before the training. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Old Fire Station\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Old Fire Station in Oxford is an arts centre with a unique social mission\, combining creativity with community impact. SUMMARY:Terrible Tales & Dreadful Decisions: Write Your Own Wicked Cautionary Tale
DESCRIPTION:Terrible Tales & Dreadful Decisions: Write Your Own Wicked Cautionary Tale\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Terrible Tales & Dreadful Decisions: Write Your Own Wicked Cautionary Tale\n\n\n\nJoin authors Lizzie Shannon-Little and Gerard Lewis for a playful\, creative writing workshop inspired by classic cautionary tales – from Aesop’s Fables to Hilaire Belloc and their own darkly humorous poetry collection\, The Tale of the Propeller Man and Other Stories. \n\n\n\nChildren will explore why warning stories are funny\, frightening\, and strangely irresistible\, before inventing and writing their own wicked poems about dreadful decisions and disastrous consequences. \n\n\n\nThis interactive session encourages imagination\, discussion\, and creative confidence. It is best suited to confident readers and independent writers aged 8 to 12. Younger siblings are welcome to attend with adults and can take part through drawing\, discussion\, and imaginative play alongside the writing activities. \n\n\n\nExpect laughter\, mischief\, and delightfully terrible ideas. \n\n\n\nThe session runs 10.30pm to 12.30pm. \n\n\n\nPlease make sure to arrive on time. A 10-minute grace period is allowed for late arrivals. After this point\, admission to the activity cannot be guaranteed. \n\n\n\nBooking in advance to secure your place is recommended. Sales from tickets help support our work to deliver fun and accessible family activities\, community engagement projects\, schools’ workshops\, exhibitions and special events for Oxford’s people in our Museum spaces. \n\n\n\nAbout the authors \n\n\n\nLizzie Shannon-Little and Gerard Lewis are Oxfordshire-based writers who met at a writing group in Oxford and have been collaborating creatively for well over a decade. Their darkly humorous poetry collection\, The Tale of the Propeller Man and Other Stories\, draws inspiration from classic cautionary tales and the wicked wit of writers such as Dr Heinrich Hoffmann and Hilaire Belloc. \n\n\n\nLizzie is an artist and writer with a fascination for myth\, dark storytelling\, and all things slightly strange\, balancing her creative practice with a career in communications. Gerard is an author\, playwright\, and musician whose work spans novels\, theatre\, and song\, and whose unused stories for this book were (apparently) too dark even for publication. \n\n\n\nAccess \n\n\n\nThe Museum is accessible for wheelchair users\, buggies\, and baby carriers. There is step-free\, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum\, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift and lift to the basement level. This event ticket includes access to the Galleries for one child and one adult. \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 09 April 2026 at 10.30am \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n8 to 12 \n\n\n\nChildren must be supervised at all times. \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPlease be aware that photographs will be taken at this event for use in marketing.
