SUMMARY:Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025 will take place from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18 October 2025. The fair will open from 3.00pm to 11.00pm on Wednesday\, Thursday\, and Friday\, and from noon to 9.00pm on the Sunday. \n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas fair has been a fixture of the life of the town for hundreds of years. The annual attraction will run as a four day event this year\, thanks to a one year trial being agreed with the council following a request from the funfair organisers. \n\n\n\nThe fair was a hiring fair\, the equivalent of today’s employment agencies and online job websites. During what used to be known as the Mop Fair\, local tradesmen\, craftsmen\, labourers\, farmers and servants came into town to look for new employment. \n\n\n\nBack in those days\, seasonal employment ran from October to October\, so everyone came into town with high hopes of gaining a new employer and securing their income for the year ahead. \n\n\n\nIn keeping with a tradition that dates back centuries\, the Town Mayor will join the Chairman of Cherwell District Council to open proceedings in front of the Town Hall. He\, or she\, will touch a ‘Golden Key’ against certain attractions to grant free rides for attending children.

SUMMARY:ART
DESCRIPTION:ART\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout ART\n\n\n\nBy Yasmin Reza \n\n\n\nPainting is easy when you don’t know how\, but very difficult when you do. Three friends\, one painting\, and a plethora of repressed emotions that need to be unpacked. \n\n\n\nYvan and Marc’s friend Serge has just bought a painting for 200\,000 euros. It is modern to say the least — an entirely white canvas. Differences in taste cause tensions to arise between the three\, resulting in an explosion of emotions. \n\n\n\nThis production will be a high-octane retelling of Reza’s Tony and Olivier award-winning comedy\, including punchy jazz\, striking visuals\, and exceptional performances. Come and witness an exploration of human relationships and see what happens when the people you love have changed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£6.00 – £8.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 03 to Saturday 07 June 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour 40 minutes \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n12+ \n\n\n\nLocation:  \n\n\n\nBT Studio \n\n\n\nWarning: \n\n\n\nThis show includes allusions to violence and strong language \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.

DESCRIPTION:Ballet Black: Shadows\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Ballet Black: Shadows\n\n\n\nNow in its 23rd year\, Cassa Pancho’s Ballet Black makes its return to The Playhouse with an exciting new double bill including Pancho’s darkly comic adaptation of Oyinkan Braithwaite’s international bestselling novel\, My Sister\, The Serial Killer. \n\n\n\nWhen Korede gets a distress call from her sister Ayoola\, she knows what to do: bleach\, rubber gloves\, nerves of steel\, and a strong stomach. It’s the third boyfriend Ayoola has killed in “self-defense\,” and the third mess Korede has to clean up. \n\n\n\nShe should probably go to the police\, but family comes first. Things take a turn when Ayoola begins dating the doctor Korede secretly loves\, forcing Korede to choose between saving him and betraying her sister. \n\n\n\nThe double bill is completed by Brooklyn-born\, award-winning choreographer Chanel DaSilva\, making her British choreographic debut. Renowned for using the arts to inspire meaningful change\, DaSilva has been commissioned by prestigious companies such as The Washington Ballet\, Parsons Dance Company\, and Dallas Black Dance Theatre\, and made history as the first Black woman to choreograph for The Joffrey Ballet. \n\n\n\nIn her debut for Ballet Black\, DaSilva delves into the profound practice of shadow work\, exploring its power to reveal our true selves.
