Beneath summer skies and ancient stone\, Macbeth draws audiences into a gripping tale of power and guilt\, where fate is whispered by witches and crowns are won at a terrible cost\, placing you at the heart of the action in a truly unforgettable setting. \n\n\n\nFIND OUT MORE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nRomeo & Juliet 2026 \n\n\n\nBy Siege Theatre \n\n\n\n03 August – 15 August \n\n\n\nFor their landmark 10th season\, Siege Theatre return with a bold reimagining of the world’s greatest love story\, set during the American War of Independence. \n\n\n\nIn a time of explosive conflict and divided loyalties\, honour still matters\, and two star-crossed lovers are forced to choose between duty to family and country or their devotion to each other. \n\n\n\nFIND OUT MORE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nYorick or the Skull \n\n\n\nBy Greensleeved \n\n\n\n21 August – 22 August \n\n\n\nGreensleeved Productions joins Oxford Shakespeare Festival for the first time\, with Yorick or the Skull.   \n\n\n\nThe story begins on the night Hamlet is born. Bikes are left at the owner’s risk. \n\n\n\nOnce you’ve parked your bike\, you can enter the festival via the Pick Up Drop Off entrance. \n\n\n\nIf you live locally and are planning to cycle\, you may find the Yellow Gate\, North Lodge entrance (OX7 3EH) an easier way to access the festival. If you do this\, we ask that you lock your bike up neatly against the fence line on the right side of the driveway/road\, so as not to block the pedestrian pathway. \n\n\n\nYou can also cycle round to the bike park\, but please note the road from the Green Gate round to the Yellow Gate will be busy with festival traffic\, mainly flowing in the opposite direction\, through the festival. \n\n\n\nBy foot\n\n\n\nThe Yellow Gate\, North Lodge entrance\, OX7 3EH is the dedicated route for accessing the festival on foot from Charlbury. \n\n\n\nThis route takes you up the main driveway towards Cornbury House. Upon passing through the North Lodge gate there is a pedestrian/local box office on your left where you can scan your mobile QR code in return for a festival wristband. If you have any problems with your pass they’ll also be able to help solve this for you here. \n\n\n\nOnce you have your wristband there is a fenced-off pedestrian walkway that runs along the grass verge\, up the side of the driveway\, taking you straight up to the pedestrian arena entrance\, bringing you into the arena next to the main Wilderness Stage. \n\n\n\nPlease ensure you use this dedicated walkway\, as this road is still used throughout the festival for exiting traffic. \n\n\n\nPlease note – if you’re accessing the campsites from this route you cannot enter until after 12.00pm on Thursday when the arena is open as you will need to walk through the arena to reach any of the campsites! \n\n\n\nIf you’re walking home in the evening\, please wear bright/reflective clothing and bring a torch as there is minimal lighting along some stretches of the surrounding local roads. \n\n\n\nPedestrian Route Instructions \n\n\n\n\nExit the station and turn right\n\n\n\nFollow forest road\, continuing straight over the bridge and then up a slight incline.\n\n\n\nPart way up the incline\, take the first major turning to your right. This will be at a triangle junction that has a small grassy area with a large tree in its centre.**\n\n\n\nFollow the sharp right bend\, round onto church lane.\n\n\n\nContinue up this road\, with most of the houses on your left hand side\, until you reach the entrance to the church yard.\n\n\n\nFollow the path of the church yard through to the other side – please be respectful and keep to the path.\n\n\n\nOnce you reach the exit on the other side\, turn right and follow the road down and then back up until you reach Yellow Gate in your right.\n\n\n\nTurn right and walk up the driveway\, over the bridge and through North Lodge gate – be sure to use the pedestrian gate to the right of the cattlegrid. Do not try to talk over the cattlegrid.\n\n\n\nOnce you’re through the gates\, the pedestrian box office will be immediately on your left.\n\n\n\nHave your mobile QR code ready to collect your festival wristbands.\n\n\n\nOnce you’ve collected your wristbands\, head up the driveway using the designated walkway\, turn left and then immediately cross the road to follow the walkway round to the pedestrian arena entrance.\n\n\n\nDo not continue to walk down the road to your left\, this road is busy with traffic and will not permit pedestrian access to the festival.\n\n\n\n\n** if you carry on straight at this point you will reach the town centre of Charlbury. There are\, among other things\, a Co-op\, deli cafe and pubs. If you do choose to go to any of these\, please be respectful and remember there will also be residents going about their day to day life. \n\n\n\nBy taxi\n\n\n\nBlenheim Taxis: 07773 000 444Charlbury Taxis: 07855 806 102H&R Taxis: 01993 840 084Abdul’s Taxi: 07944 863 098001 Taxis: 01865240000LT Services Luxury cars and People Carriers: 07503 888 101 / 07805 614 985 \n\n\n\nFrom Oxford Parkway to the Pick Up & Drop Off (PUDO) via Green Gate it should cost between £50-£60. \n\n\n\nFrom Charlbury to the Pick Up & Drop Off (PUDO) via Green Gate it should cost between £20-£25. \n\n\n\nPlease contact the taxi companies directly to confirm if they accept cash or card payments only. \n\n\n\nPrices for minibuses will vary\, and prices to any other destination are to be agreed upon between the parties themselves. \n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, the local Charlbury taxi services do not have disabled access but can store a folded-up wheelchair in the back of their vehicles. \n\n\n\nThe wheelchair-accessible taxi firm in the local area is Abdul’s in Witney. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat are the Wilderness Festival gate times?+\n\n\n\n\nThe standard gate times for entry into the festival are as follows: \n\n\n\nThursdayNoon to 10.00pm (car parks from 10.00am\, arena from 2.00pm) \n\n\n\nFrida From 9.00am to 10.00pm \n\n\n\nSaturdayFrom 9.00am to 9.00pm \n\n\n\nSundayFrom 9.00am to 6.00pm \n\n\n\nMondayEveryone to vacate the campsites by noon \n\n\n\nPlease note that these times and timings can be subject to change. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat are the Wilderness Festival arena times?+\n\n\n\n\nWilderness festival arena opening hours are as follows: \n\n\n\nThursday: From 2.00pm to midnightFriday: 07.45am to 4.00amSaturday: 07.45am to 4.00amSunday: 07.45am to 3.00amMonday: Arena closed \n\n\n\nWilderness (Main) stage timesPlease note all times are approximate and subject to change \n\n\n\nThursday: ClosedFriday: 3.00pm to 10.45pmSaturday: 3.00pm to 10.45pmSunday: 3.00pm to 10.45pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat do I do upon arrival at Wilderness Festival?+\n\n\n\n\nOnce you arrive\, head to the relevant Wristband Exchange/Box Office as indicated below to exchange your mobile QR code ticket for your festival wristband. \n\n\n\nYou MUST NOT rely on mobile signal at the festival. The fair dates back to 1625 when it was a parish festival to celebrate the feast of the patron saint\, St Giles\, and is held on the Monday and Tuesday following the first Sunday after St Giles’ Day (01 September). \n\n\n\nIn the 18th century\, it was a toy fair\, and then in the early 19th century\, it was a general children’s fair. The funfair grew during mid and late Victorian times when improved means of transport meant that large numbers of people could be brought into the city to attend the festivities. It was also when the forerunners of today’s rides were first developed following advances in mechanical engineering. \n\n\n\nNow run by Oxford City Council\, the St Giles’ fair is probably the largest of its kind in Europe taking up all of St Giles’ even Magdalen Street by Elliston and Cavell’s right up to and beyond the War Memorial\, at the meeting of the Woodstock and Banbury roads. \n\n\n\nThe street is closed to traffic on the two days in September for this traditional fair. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVideo montage\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)\n\n\n\nWhen is the St Giles’ Fair in 2026?In 2025\, the St Giles’ Fair will take place on Monday 07 and Tuesday 08 September\, from 11.00am to 11.00pm on both days.
