SUMMARY:Death In Venice by Welsh National Opera
DESCRIPTION:Death In Venice by Welsh National Opera at New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Death In Venice by Welsh National Opera\n\n\n\nWould you pursue love for inspiration? \n\n\n\nIn the search for beauty and meaning\, the renowned author Gustav von Aschenbach travels to Venice on a whim.  \n\n\n\nIn the sultry atmosphere of a cholera epidemic\, with the scirocco blowing\, he falls in love with Tadzio\, a youthful aristocrat who is staying in the same hotel with his family.  \n\n\n\nAs Aschenbach projects his loneliness and desire on him\, fantasy and imagination intermingle with existence. His obsession progresses to a fever pitch as he becomes increasingly divorced from reality. \n\n\n\nInspired by the original Thomas Mann novella\, Britten’s magnificently atmospheric opera comes to life in this new production from WNO\, creating images of ravishing beauty and exploring the grotesque hidden beneath the search for the sublime. \n\n\n\nAs poetic worlds of the imagination collide with reality\, the early 20th century acts as a mirror to our times. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nPrices:From £13.00Tickets are subject to a transaction fee \n\n\n\nDates & times:Doors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance:Under 16s must be accompanied by an adultNo under 5s will be admitted into the venue. \n\n\n\nDuration: 2 hours 40 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGood to know\n\n\n\n\nViewing and Sound quality may be significantly affected on stalls rows H and J due to the position of the orchestra. \n\n\n\nSurtitles may not be visible from stalls row V to Z due to the overhang of the circle.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
