SUMMARY:The Household Cavalry Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Household Cavalry Exhibition. Image: The Squadron Leader of the Blues and Royals. Pictured from Canary Wharf looking toward The City of London. 40″ x 93.7″ / 101.6cm x 238cm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Household Cavalry Exhibition\n\n\n\nBritish photographic artist Ripley has created twelve large-scale portraits of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. \n\n\n\nThe imagery features soldiers from The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals mounted on their horses and posed on buildings throughout London\, overlooking the capital from Trafalgar Square to Canary Wharf. \n\n\n\nA boxed set of the twelve portraits was the official Coronation present from the Household Cavalry to His Majesty King Charles III. This was presented by Ripley and senior officers from the Household Cavalry to King Charles III at Buckingham Palace on 15 June 2023. \n\n\n\nRipley works with high-resolution digital composite photography to create large-scale portraits. His primary focus is working with Thoroughbred Racehorses\, creating a feel of the equine master painters but using modern methods to create works of incredible detail and clarity.  \n\n\n\nNotable works include the portrait of ‘Estimate’\, which Ripley created for Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. ‘Estimate’ was owned by the late Queen and won the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2013. \n\n\n\nRipley supports The Household Cavalry Foundation\, whose “Duty of Care” includes operational casualties\, veterans\, serving soldiers and their dependents\, and the Cavalry’s four centuries’ heritage and the welfare of their horses. A percentage of profits raised through sales of these portraits go to this worthy cause. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nLocation:The exhibition is in the Great Hall at Blenheim Palace. \n\n\n\nTickets required:Palace\, Park and Gardens day ticket\, Annual Pass or Privilege Pass. \n\n\n\n\nDiscover more about Ripley’s Household Cavalry Exhibition. \n\n\n\nDiscover more \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAll pictures © Ripley

SUMMARY:H Natural Xmas in Oxford – night two
DESCRIPTION:H Natural Xmas in Oxford – night two\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout H Natural Xmas in Oxford – night two\n\n\n\nSteve Hogarth is back in Oxford with his brilliant Christmas show. For two nights this year! \n\n\n\nLead singer\, co-songwriter and lyricist for Marillion since 1989\, during which the band have produced 16 studio albums\, the latest ‘An Hour Before It’s Dark’ reaching #2 in the UK album chart and #1 in the rock chart. \n\n\n\nH first performed solo as an experiment to pair his favourite songs back to the bare bones: “It’s liberating to occasionally escape the discipline of Marillion’s heavily-programmed music. \n\n\n\nIt’s great to be able to expose the voice and the nuance of it\, to be able to do anything in the moment\, follow the energy of the audience\, and know they can hear the words. \n\n\n\nWhen I sing with the band it’s like riding a monster – very exciting – but by necessity quite “nailed-down” structurally-speaking\, and so working alone is a chance for intimacy\, tenderness and spontaneity.. a more volatile and audience-influenced performance. \n\n\n\n“I play whatever I feel like playing during the show. I try to get a dialogue going with the audience so feel free to ask me a question or two. \n\n\n\nDon’t just ask me to play this song or that song\, ASK me something! Having said that\, I often play requests too. I play songs which\, for whatever reason\, have been significant in my life.” \n\n\n\nA chance then to witness Marillion’s voice up close and (very) personal. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a booking fee \n\n\n\nUnder 14s must be accompanied by an adult \n\n\n\nDoors open at 7.00pm.

SUMMARY:Oxford University Museum of Natural History Architecture Tour
DESCRIPTION:Oxford University Museum of Natural History Architecture Tour\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford University Museum of Natural History Architecture Tour\n\n\n\nSee the Oxford University Museum of Natural History in a new light. \n\n\n\nBeyond the specimens and displays\, the Oxford University Museum of Natural History’s building is a source of artistic\, scientific\, and architectural inspiration in itself. \n\n\n\nJoin an enthusiastic volunteer guide for a free tour of the museum’s incredible architecture and discover the decorations and stories hidden in plain sight. \n\n\n\nThe museum building is as spectacular today as when it opened in 1860. It is a striking example of Victorian neo-Gothic architecture\, and its style was strongly influenced by the ideas of 19th-century art critic John Ruskin. \n\n\n\nRuskin believed that architecture should be shaped by the energies of the natural world\, and thanks to his connections with several eminent Pre-Raphaelite artists\, the museum’s design and decoration now stand as prime examples of the Pre-Raphaelite vision of science and art.  \n\n\n\nBear-whales\, angels\, hidden bats – the museum building is chock full of architectural visions of the natural world. A world-first in 1860 and unique to this day\, this building teaches you about the natural world in its very fabric. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nPrice:Free event.
