SUMMARY:Steve Hackett - Best of Genesis & Solo Gems
DESCRIPTION:Steve Hackett – Best of Genesis & Solo Gems\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Steve Hackett – Best of Genesis & Solo Gems\n\n\n\nFollowing his stunning sell-out Friars date in September 2024\, Steve Hackett returns to Friars Aylesbury\, the place where Genesis began. Most people thought that the 2024 performance was Steve’s best ever Friars show. \n\n\n\nFriars was closely involved with Genesis throughout their early career\, their first Friars appearance being in 1970 when they were paid the princely sum of £10 for two 45-minute sets. \n\n\n\nIn 1972\, Friars thought the band was in danger of splitting up\, so a special Genesis Convention gig was organised at Watford Town Hall in June of that year to celebrate how good they were and to attract some press attention. It worked\, and Genesis eventually went on to be one of the biggest bands in the world. \n\n\n\nGenesis’ Mike Rutherford said in 2021 that if it wasn’t for Friars\, the band may well have split up at that time. In 2022\, David Stopps presented Steve Hackett with the FA Cup (the Friars Aylesbury Cup). \n\n\n\nSteve Hackett – Best of Genesis & Solo Gems\n\n\n\nSteve Hackett’s timeless guitar work was woven throughout Genesis’ classic 70’s catalogue of albums. In recent years\, he and his outstanding touring line-up of Nad Sylvan (vocals)\, Jonas Reingold (bass\, backing vocals)\, Rob Townsend (saxophone\, flutes\, additional keyboards)\, Roger King (keyboards) and Craig Blundell (drums and percussion) have brought many of these albums back to great acclaim. \n\n\n\nFor the 2026 tour\, there will be two changes to the band. Lalle Larsson has taken over on keyboards from Roger and Felix Lehrmann will take over from Craig on drums. \n\n\n\nSays Steve: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Aylesbury in 2026.” \n\n\n\nSteve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and first played Friars Aylesbury in June 1971. He quickly gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line up alongside Peter Gabriel\, Tony Banks\, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. \n\n\n\nSteve’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977)\, including the classic Selling England By The Pound. \n\n\n\nAfter leaving Genesis at the end of 1977\, Steve’s solo career\, which now spans more than 30 albums\, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar.  \n\n\n\nSteve is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognised in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR. \n\n\n\nHackett’s compositions take influences from many genres\, including jazz\, classical and blues. For his studio works\, The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019)\, Hackett explored the influences of world music. \n\n\n\nRecent tours have seen Hackett celebrate his time with Genesis\, including a spectacular 2018 tour in which he realised a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra. \n\n\n\nThe lockdown enforced by the 2020 global pandemic proved to be a particularly creative period for Hackett. He began by releasing Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith\, a live recording of 2019’s hugely successful tour celebrating that Genesis classic together with the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums. \n\n\n\nLockdown also gave Hackett the opportunity to write and record two new studio albums in 2021: the UK Classical Chart hit Under A Mediterranean Sky and the hit rock album Surrender of Silence. \n\n\n\nHackett and his band enjoyed a return to touring with Genesis Revisited – Seconds Out + More! (2021) and Genesis Revisited – Foxtrot At Fifty (2022) both of which included Friars Aylesbury dates. \n\n\n\nSubsequently\, the live album Genesis Revisited – Seconds Out + More!\, released in 2022\, became Hackett’s most successful-ever live album\, reaching number 28 in the UK Album Chart and achieving the highest-ever chart positions in several European countries. \n\n\n\nHe also released the live album from the 2022 tour – Foxtrot at Fifty + Hackett Highlights – Live in Brighton. \n\n\n\nSteve’s autobiography\, A Genesis In My Bed\, was published in 2020. Steve talks candidly about his early life\, his time with Genesis\, and\, in particular\, his personal relationships with the other band members\, with great insight into the daily goings on of this major rock band. \n\n\n\nThis will be Steve Hackett’s 16th Friars appearance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £57.06 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 11 October 2026 at 7.45pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\nThis show has an interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain Auditorium \n\n\n\nAge guidance:  \n\n\n\nUnder 16s must be accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout O2 Academy Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Edwardian building on Cowley Road has been hosting live music for decades. But prior to being a music venue\, it was a Cooperative party hall. It was originally known as The Venue and then the much-respected Zodiac\, both of which paved the way for O2 Academy Oxford\, which officially launched in September 2007\, with performances from New Young Pony Club\, The Magic Numbers and Young Knives. \n\n\n\nSince then\, the O2 Academy Oxford has established itself as one of the city’s greatest venues for live music and club nights\, with some of the best gigs to date coming from Ed Sheeran\, Foals\, Stereophonics\, Ozzy Osbourne\, Babyshambles\, Hozier and Royal Blood. At 13\, Kennedy was introduced to the jazz violin legend Stephane Grappelli\, sparking a lifelong involvement in the genre. \n\n\n\nThe pair became great friends\, touring theatres\, folk clubs\, and at the famous Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London\, where Kennedy performed for the first time. \n\n\n\nKennedy’s 1989 hit recording of Vivaldi’s ‘The Four Seasons’ made him an international star and completely transformed the classical music scene. Nigel’s inclusive and open-minded approach to all styles of music continues to this day and has won him fans all over the world. \n\n\n\nKennedy combines a unique mix of repertoire with energy\, dynamics and mind-blowing technical and emotional musicality\, which will leave audiences spellbound. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“An inspiration to the musicians of tomorrow and today.” \n\n\n\nRobert Plant \n\n\n\n\n\n“Like a breath of fresh air.” \n\n\n\nGeorge Martin \n\n\n\n\n\n“A brilliant musician.” \n\n\n\nKate Bush \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £43.16 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nMonday 12 October 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 35 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years. SUMMARY:Sounds Of The 60s Live - Hosted By Tony Blackburn OBE
DESCRIPTION:Sounds Of The 60s Live – Hosted By Tony Blackburn OBE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Sounds Of The 60s Live – Hosted By Tony Blackburn OBE\n\n\n\nBroadcasting legend Tony Blackburn OBE has announced a run of dates for his much-loved Sounds of the 60s Live Tour\, bringing the music\, memories and magic of the 1960s to theatres and concert halls across the UK in 2026. \n\n\n\nFollowing sold-out shows and standing ovations throughout 2025\, Sounds of the 60s Live Tour 2026 will kick off in March and run right through to November\, packed with the biggest hits from music’s most iconic decade. \n\n\n\nThe show\, an adaptation of Tony’s longstanding BBC Radio 2 Sounds of the 60s slot which attracts millions of listeners every week\, will feature live music and stories from the most iconic decade in fashion\, music and pop culture. \n\n\n\nThe setlist will feature fresh medleys from The Rolling Stones\, The Walker Brothers\, and some of the greatest soul tracks ever recorded\, alongside timeless classics from Diana Ross & The Supremes\, The Beatles\, The Beach Boys\, Stevie Wonder and much more. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Sounds Of The 60s Live – Hosted By Tony Blackburn OBE\n\n\n\nTony Blackburn OBE said: “The reaction to these shows has been amazing — it’s pure joy seeing audiences singing and dancing along to the greatest decade of music. \n\n\n\nEvery night feels like a celebration\, not just of the songs\, but of the memories they bring back. 2026 is going to be another fantastic year for the tour\, and I can’t wait to travel the country with this amazing band\, sharing the music I’ve loved my whole life.” \n\n\n\nJust over 60 years ago in the summer of 1964\, Tony started his incredible broadcasting journey off the coast of Essex on the airwaves of pirate station Radio Caroline. He then went on to launch and be the very first voice ever heard on BBC Radio 1 in 1967. \n\n\n\nTony is widely regarded as a true pioneer of British broadcasting. His passion for soul music has defined much of his career and helped shape the UK’s music landscape. \n\n\n\nOver the decades\, he has become a beloved figure on both radio and television. His illustrious career has seen him receive 37 industry awards\, among them two Gold Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Radio—first awarded in 1989 and again in 2014\, making him the only recipient of two lifetime achievement honours. \n\n\n\nHe also received the Sony Award for Best Breakfast Show (Contemporary Music) in 1993 and the Radio Academy’s Music and Media Award in 1997. In 2002\, he won the first-ever series of ITV’s I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!\, and in 2012 appeared (controversially under-scored!) on Let’s Dance for Sport Relief alongside David Hamilton. \n\n\n\nIn 2014\, he was featured on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories and began regular segments for The One Show on BBC One. \n\n\n\nIn 2023\, Tony joined the presenting team of BBC Morning Live\, continuing to bring his warmth\, humour\, and musical knowledge to new audiences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £34.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 15 October 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 50 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain Auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. DESCRIPTION:Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf\n\n\n\nIn this brand new show\, Lee shares his stage with a tough-talking werewolf comedian from the dark forests of the subconscious who hates humanity. \n\n\n\nThe Man-Wulf lays down a ferocious comedy challenge to the culturally irrelevant and physically enfeebled Lee. Can the beast inside us all be silenced with the silver bullet of Lee’s unprecedentedly critically acclaimed style of stand up? \n\n\n\nStewart Lee (“The world’s greatest living stand-up comedian” The Times)\, is in danger of being left behind. He’s approaching sixty with debilitating health conditions\, his TV profile has diminished\, and his once BAFTA award-winning style of stand-up seems obsolete. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Stewart Lee vs The Man-Wulf\n\n\n\nBut can Lee unleash his inner Man-Wulf to position himself alongside comedy legends like Dave Chappelle\, Ricky Gervais and Jordan Peterson at the forefront of side-splitting stadium-stuffing sh*t-posting? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £31.58 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 17 October 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours\, including an interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain Auditorium \n\n\n\nAge guidance:  \n\n\n\n14+ \n\n\n\nUnder 16s must be seated next to an adult (18+). \n\n\n\nWarning: \n\n\n\nThis production contains strong language\, smoke\, haze and dry ice. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
