SUMMARY:Gyles Brandreth: Can't Stop Talking!!!
DESCRIPTION:Gyles Brandreth: Can’t Stop Talking!!!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Gyles Brandreth: Can’t Stop Talking!!!\n\n\n\nHe’s back – and he’s unstoppable. Gyles Brandreth just can’t stop talking. The jumper-loving This Morning star\, who keeps popping up on Pointless\, QI\, Would I Lie To You?\, Sunday Brunch\, and The One Show\, has been burbling and babbling since he was a baby\, and in his hilarious new one-man show the award-winning raconteur (and holder of the world record for the longest-ever after-dinner speech – 12 and a half hours!) is trying to work out why. \n\n\n\nFrom 40 years on Radio 4’s Just A Minute to 4 years on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox\, he can’t keep his mouth shut. He even talks in his sleep. What’s it all about? He’s going to tell you – because this is his life story: a roller-coaster of tales and revelations from his unlikely life in show business and politics. There will be surprises too (for him and you) when the audience spins a wheel to decide what he’s going to talk about next. \n\n\n\nDon’t miss him – novelist\, actor\, ex-MP\, podcaster\, No. 1 best-selling biographer\, wordsmith\, and verbivore (he suffers from logorrhea – knows how to spell it and knows what it means) – he’s won the Audience Award for Most Popular Show on the Fringe\, multiple 5-star reviews and every time he’s been to Edinburgh his shows have sold out. Fast. So book now. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Wildly funny” \n\n\n\nDaily Mail \n\n\n\n\n\n“Absolute joy” \n\n\n\nScotsman \n\n\n\n\n\n“Genius” \n\n\n\nTelegraph \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £37.40 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 13 April 2025 at 3.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\nThis show has an interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain auditorium \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n12+ \n\n\n\nTrigger warning: \n\n\n\nThere may be name-dropping \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. SUMMARY:Marcus Brigstocke: Vitruvian Mango
DESCRIPTION:Marcus Brigstocke: Vitruvian Mango\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Marcus Brigstocke: Vitruvian Mango\n\n\n\nWhat are men for? Most heavy things can be lifted by machines\, and most problems can be solved by computers and most puddles can be crossed without us gallantly draping our capes over them – so are we fellas of any use at all? \n\n\n\nAward-winning MAN Marcus Brigstocke thinks we might still serve some useful function. But what is it? SUMMARY:Lunchtime Talk: 'Oxfordshire at the Heart of Morris Dancing'
DESCRIPTION:Lunchtime Talk: ‘Oxfordshire at the Heart of Morris Dancing’\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Lunchtime Talk: ‘Oxfordshire at the Heart of Morris Dancing’\n\n\n\nDelve into the centuries-old history of this traditional art form\, and discover how Oxfordshire dancers inspired its revival. With local historian and Morris expert Mike Heaney. \n\n\n\nWhy are Oxford’s streets full of Morris dancers on May Morning? What’s the history of this centuries-old art form? And how did a momentous 1899 Boxing Day meeting in snowy Headington spark renewed interest in this ancient tradition? \n\n\n\nMorris dancing has been a feature of Oxfordshire life for nearly half a millennium. This talk looks at some of the ups and downs of Oxfordshire’s Morris history\, how its dancers inspired the folk revival\, and how to spot the different styles of the teams you might see on the streets of Oxford today\, from men dressed in white to women in clogs and masked dervishes with whirling and clattering sticks. \n\n\n\nComplimentary tea and coffee will be available to enjoy during the talk. We recommend arriving before the start of the talk if you would like to grab a refreshment. \n\n\n\nSales from tickets help support our work to deliver fun and accessible family activities\, community engagement projects\, school workshops\, exhibitions\, and special events for Oxford’s people in our Museum spaces. \n\n\n\nMike Heaney spent over forty years of his professional career at the Bodleian Library\, at the same time pursuing his interests in folk customs and local history. He’s a musician for the Eynsham Morris\, having lived in the village for over 25 years\, and is an authority on Morris dancing. His book The Ancient English Morris Dance was published in 2023 and has rapidly been acknowledged as the definitive history of the Morris. \n\n\n\nAccess \n\n\n\nThe doors at the step-free accessible entrance to Oxford Town Hall are undergoing essential maintenance work on Wednesday 16 April 2025. Having encountered the masterpieces of Bach and Handel\, Mozart began to reappraise his values as a composer.
