SUMMARY:Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra: Nicola Benedetti
DESCRIPTION:Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra: Nicola Benedetti\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra: Nicola Benedetti\n\n\n\nElgar Violin Concerto in B minor\, Op. 61 \n\n\n\nElgar Enigma Variations\, Op. 36 \n\n\n\nNicola Benedetti violin \n\n\n\nMarios Papadopoulos conductor \n\n\n\nThe great violinist Fritz Kreisler rated Edward Elgar alongside Beethoven and Brahms. When Kreisler said as much in a 1905 newspaper interview\, Elgar picked up the threads of a concerto he’d begun nearly two decades earlier. \n\n\n\nThe piece he finished five years later\, performed in this concert by the exceptional Nicola Benedetti\, is as epic and emotive as it is personal and elusive\, ‘enshrining the soul’ of an unknown person. \n\n\n\nA more famous enigma is found in Elgar’s dazzlingly virtuosic set of variations for orchestra. His Enigma Variations are portraits of friends and celebrations of orchestral panache. But they also offer glimpses into the soul of an artist who might have been careful not to reveal his secrets but was never afraid to show his emotions. \n\n\n\nElgar the ‘great English progressivist’ \n\n\n\nEdward Elgar is often thought of as a conservative\, but Richard Strauss hailed him as adventurous and forward-looking. Nicholas Kenyon explores Elgar as he created pioneering 20th-century music and became a composer of unforgettable masterpieces. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £20.00 \n\n\n\n(Students from £5.00) \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 15 April 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPre-concert talk given by Sir Nicholas Kenyon at 6.30pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Daliso Chaponda: Topical Storm
DESCRIPTION:Daliso Chaponda: Topical Storm\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Daliso Chaponda: Topical Storm\n\n\n\nDaliso Chaponda has been writing jokes about the news for over a decade – on Have I Got News For You\, Radio 4′ News Quiz\, Australia’s Good News Week and many more besides. (In fact\, he’s seen the news from both sides\, having been in the tabloids himself.) But recently the news has been so absurd\, chaotic and overwhelming that it more or less mocks itself. Where do we go from here? \n\n\n\nTopical Storm is Daliso’s response. A show not about ‘The’ news but about news itself. Journalists\, bloggers\, fake news\, satirical news: have we lost the thread of it all? Is the reporting of news endlessly polarising us as a society rather than educating us? \n\n\n\nWould we be better off going right back to the first-ever news bulletin – the original caveman drawing on a wall – and starting from scratch? Daliso does just that in this explosive new standup show. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Full of sharp one-liners and well-crafted gags…a real talent.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nMetro \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nStandard – £20.00 \n\n\n\nConcessions – £19.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 15 April 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour 40 minutes \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n14+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. It is a resource for the community\, and it is also a professional venue\, welcoming over 55\,000 customer visits every year. \n\n\n\nIt is something unique\, but it is also different things to different people. It is the cause and subject of many arguments and debates; and a fair amount of acclaim and affection. It is complicated and a little eccentric. \n\n\n\nIt is not a little theatre. It likes to make a big noise. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about The Theatre Chipping Norton\, including travel\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Incarcerating Eve
DESCRIPTION:Incarcerating Eve\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Incarcerating Eve\n\n\n\nEve has existed since the dawn of humanity\, every woman\, every age\, every struggle. She is the indigenous woman\, the pregnant teenager\, the survivor\, the accused witch\, the silenced voice blamed for humanity’s fall. \n\n\n\nAcross history\, Eve has been oppressed and condemned\, but no more. She is awakening as the original Mother Goddess\, Inanna: creator\, nurturer\, and keeper of wisdom. Eve’s rise is what the world needs now\, if only we can free her. \n\n\n\nPowerful and provocative\, Mandala Theatre’s new play Incarcerating Eve confronts the devastating effects of suppressing the Feminine on families\, society\, and the natural world — and offers a bold vision of renewal and hope. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nStandard – £16.00 \n\n\n\nPay More – £20.00 \n\n\n\nPay Less – £12.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 16 and Friday 17 April 2026 \n\n\n\nThursday at 1.00pm and 7.30pm \n\n\n\nFriday at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n14+ \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nMandala Theatre 10th Anniversary Double Bill – Incarcerating Eve will also be performed at The North Wall on Wednesday 15 April as a double bill alongside Trojan Women by Karim Alrawi\, performed by Mandala Young Company. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The North Wall Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe North Wall Arts Centre is an an award-winning theatre\, gallery and performing arts centre located in Summertown\, North Oxford.
