DESCRIPTION:John Kearns: Tilting at Windmills\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout John Kearns: Tilting at Windmills\n\n\n\nTilting at Windmills is the brand-new stand-up show from Taskmaster alumni and double Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner\, John Kearns. \n\n\n\nA fragmented\, digressing portrayal of a 38-year-old man’s life\, alluding to books he hasn’t read\, touching on the modern condition. Plus VAT! More allusive and bleak as ever\, it is unreal the comedian you become. And for whom? Decent craic with the right crowd. \n\n\n\nA show for those who have read about but not committed to the Guinness Nitrosurge. \n\n\n\nSeen bewildered on Taskmaster (Channel 4)\, terrified on Live at the Apollo (BBC)\, getting through Never Mind the Buzzcocks (Sky)\, and implicating others on his Sky stand-up special The Varnishing Days. SUMMARY:The Drawing Project
DESCRIPTION:The Drawing Project\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Drawing Project\n\n\n\nThe Drawing Project is a collaborative work involving sixteen artists and two paintings from the Ashmolean Museum: The Forest Fire by Piero di Cosimo and The Exposition of Moses by Nicholas Poussin. The aim was to produce drawings that worked collectively as well as individually. \n\n\n\nThe artists produced drawings which were then assembled to become full-scale representations of the original paintings. The four assembled collaborative representations are made of fifteen individually drawn sections. Each artist produced their drawings to scale using a variety of drawing and painting media\, with some also working in collage. \n\n\n\nDuring eight months\, over sixty individual project drawings were produced and then assembled into four large drawings representing the original paintings. \n\n\n\nThe finished assembled works are 1:1 representations of the original paintings; two in colour and two in black and white. Some of the artists have also produced additional work referencing the original paintings. \n\n\n\nAt the Ashmolean Museum\, there’s a wonderful opportunity for both families and adults to attend a workshop inspired by the exhibition. DESCRIPTION:Sherlock Holmes: The Death and Life \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Sherlock Holmes: The Death and Life \n\n\n\nA fantasy based upon a fiction\, finds Arthur Conan Doyle tiring of ‘his’ intolerably arrogant Sherlock Holmes\, and inventing the arch villain\, Moriarty\, to dispose of him. \n\n\n\nBut Doyle’s dangerous strategy\, combined with his passion for raising the spirits of the dead\, has rather more surreal and dramatic consequences than he bargains for! \n\n\n\nA light-hearted and intriguing investigation of the consequences when fictional characters take on lives and ambitions of their own\, quite against the wishes of the author. SUMMARY:Didcot Railway Centre February Half-Term Steam Days
DESCRIPTION:Didcot Railway Centre February Half-Term Steam Days\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Didcot Railway Centre February Half-Term Steam Days\n\n\n\nTravel back in time to the golden age of the Great Western Railway and savour the sights\, sounds and smells of steam as you explore this 21-acre living museum with trains dating from Victorian times to the 1960s. \n\n\n\nSteam trains will be operating on at least one of the centre’s two demonstration lines\, allowing you to take unlimited rides. On many days\, the second line will be running too and may feature a pioneering diesel railcar\, a heritage diesel locomotive or a small branch line steam engine.  \n\n\n\nCheck the Locomotive Roster to see what is expected to be running on the date of your visit. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nPick up a colourful Centre Guide\, explore this 21-acre living museum and unearth almost two centuries of railway history. Get up close and see them at close quarters. \n\n\n\nStroll through the original 1932 Engine Shed and see magnificently preserved locomotives – find 5900 Hinderton Hall\, climb onto the footplate and listen to Archie\, the driver\, and Stan\, the fireman\, prepare their loco! Listen out for the sounds of a working engine shed and see if you can hear Stan fetch his supplies from Jonah\, the storeman. \n\n\n\nSee surviving track from Brunel’s Broad Gauge\, discover painstakingly restored buildings\, coaches and wagons and learn more about the development of railways and how they changed everyday lives. \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThere’s a chance to get hands-on in The Signalling Centre\, where you can discover how trains have been controlled through the ages. Descend into a shelter built to keep Didcot’s enginemen safe in WWII and experience an air raid or immerse yourself in the varied collection of fascinating\, smaller artefacts in the museum. \n\n\n\nDon’t miss the carriage display with coaches dating from Victorian times to the 1940s that evoke bygone eras. See the VIP Saloon reputed to have been used by General Eisenhower during the preparations for D-Day and later used in the GWR Royal Train. \n\n\n\nChildren can also make tracks in the outdoor play area or dress up as a station master. You can relax over lunch or enjoy a snack in the refreshment rooms\, and don’t forget to pick up a souvenir in the gift shop. The modern trains running past the centre complete the picture and mean you can experience over 180 years of railway progress in just one day. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nPricing:Child admission – £13.00Adult admission – £20.50Family of 4 admission – £51.00Family of 5 admission – £72.00Child under 3 years admission – FreeMember admission – FreeCarer’s ticket – Free   \n\n\n\nDates:14\, 15\, 18\, 21 and 22 February 2026 \n\n\n\nOpening times:The Didcot Railway Centre is currently open only at Weekends and on 18 to 20 February for Half-Term\, with the last entries at 2.30pm.
