SUMMARY:Oxford Harmonic Choir: Bach St Matthew Passion
DESCRIPTION:Oxford Harmonic Choir: Bach St Matthew Passion\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Harmonic Choir: Bach St Matthew Passion\n\n\n\nJ. S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion was completed in 1727 and has been widely recognized\, to this day\, as the greatest sacred choral work of all time. It stands as such a towering musical edifice that it casts a shadow on the entire passion oratorio genre until at least the time of Penderecki and Part in the late 20th century. \n\n\n\nCertainly\, Bach’s inventive harmony\, dense counterpoint and dramatic use of tone colour are striking throughout. DESCRIPTION:The Bootleg Shadows\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Bootleg Shadows\n\n\n\nIn June 1960\, Hank B Marvin\, Bruce Welch\, Jet Harris and Tony Meehan recorded Apache. \n\n\n\nThis charted in July and became the monster hit that launched the Shadows instrumental career and founded a nation of bespectacled guitarists dreaming of acquiring their very own Fender Stratocaster and stepping out into the glaring spotlight of stardom. \n\n\n\nWith their immaculate appearance\, synchronised dance movements and clean\, pure melodic sound\, the Shadows chalked up 35 hits of their own (not counting another 33 hits with Cliff Richard)\, giving them more hits than any other British group and securing them a unique place in the annals of popular music. \n\n\n\nToday\, the Shadows make few live appearances\, but the Bootleg Shadows keep their ‘live’ sound alive by performing a fantasy concert that encompasses the Shadows amazing career from 1960 up until the early 80s. Concert audiences are invited to relive fantastic hits such as: \n\n\n\nFoot Tapper\, Man of Mystery\, Atlantis\, Wonderful Land\, Kon Tiki\, Don’t Cry for Me Argentina\, FBI plus many\, many more. \n\n\n\nIn the company of Geoff\, Keith\, Tony\, Lloyd and Binks\, the audience is taken on a tour of the Shadows career\, with plenty of humour to make it a night out to remember. \n\n\n\nFor anyone who loves the sounds of the 60’s – and enjoys a few laughs on the way – Bootleg Shadows perform a unique tribute that has audiences humming the tunes and doing the Shadows famous ‘walk’ long after they have left the theatre. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£21.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 29 March 2026 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. It is the cause and subject of many arguments and debates; and a fair amount of acclaim and affection. It is complicated and a little eccentric. \n\n\n\nIt is not a little theatre. It likes to make a big noise. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about The Theatre Chipping Norton\, including travel\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Mary Knowland: Lines of Enquiry
DESCRIPTION:Mary Knowland: Lines of Enquiry\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Mary Knowland: Lines of Enquiry\n\n\n\nMary Knowland grew up surrounded by art; her father was a painter\, however\, her initial training was in ceramics with Robin Welch and then at Harrow School of Art. After many years exhibiting and selling\, she returned\, via a course in textiles\, to her drawing and painting roots but has more recently included ceramics in her practice. \n\n\n\nThis collection of work offers us insights into her process of enquiry through line and a variety of media\, working with the human form\, the rhythms of the coast\, the simplicity of everyday objects and natural forms. \n\n\n\nTwo approaches to making drawings and paintings will be apparent. Consciously controlled mark-making and brush strokes verging on the abstract sit alongside a much freer approach where she is not looking at the subject while the work is in progress\, yet capturing the essence of the subject. \n\n\n\nDevelopment of an idea can be seen across a series of drawings where line also directly connects to the ceramics and\, in its various forms\, line is present throughout the exhibition. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFree entry \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 31 March to Sunday 19 April 2026 \n\n\n\nExhibition Opening \n\n\n\nTuesday 31 March from 6.00pm to 8.00pm \n\n\n\nPlease join for drinks to celebrate the opening of this exhibition \n\n\n\nFree event. SUMMARY:Royal Ballet and Opera: Siegfried
DESCRIPTION:Royal Ballet and Opera: Siegfried\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Royal Ballet and Opera: Siegfried\n\n\n\nRaised by a scheming dwarf and unaware of his true family origins\, a young man embarks on an epic journey. Soon\, destiny brings him face-to-face with a shattered sword\, a fearsome dragon and the cursed ring it guards\, and a Valkyrie forced into enchanted slumber… \n\n\n\nMoments of transcendent beauty and heroic triumph sparkle in the third chapter of Wagner’s Ring cycle\, brought to life under Barrie Kosky’s inspired eye following his spectacular Das Rheingold (2023) and Die Walküre (2025). \n\n\n\nAndreas Schager\, in his much-anticipated debut with The Royal Opera\, stars as Siegfried’s titular hero\, alongside Christopher Maltman’s towering Wanderer\, Peter Hoare’s treacherous Mime and Elisabet Strid’s radiant Brünnhilde. Antonio Pappano conducts\, drawing out the unspoken tensions and ethereal mysticism of Wagner’s dynamic score. \n\n\n\nCast: \n\n\n\nSiegfried Andreas Schager \n\n\n\nMime Peter Hoare \n\n\n\nDer Wanderer Christopher Maltman \n\n\n\nBrünnhilde Elisabet Strid \n\n\n\nAlberich Christopher Purves \n\n\n\nFafner Soloman Howard \n\n\n\nErda Wiebke Lehmkuhl \n\n\n\nWoodbird Sarah Dufresne \n\n\n\nCreatives: \n\n\n\nMusic Richard Wagner \n\n\n\nConductor Antonio Pappano \n\n\n\nDirector Barrie Kosky \n\n\n\nSet Designer Rufus Didwiszus \n\n\n\nCostume Designer Victoria Behr \n\n\n\nLighting Designer Alessandro Carletti \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£19.50 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 31 March 2026 at 5.15pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n5 hours 30 minutes\, including two intervals \n\n\n\nFilm rating: \n\n\n\n15 \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. His debut film\, Alone Across Gola\, invites the audience into the depths of the Liberian rainforest as he attempts to retrace a lost track never previously undertaken by bicycle. \n\n\n\nJude is also the founder of AdventureMentor.org\, which provides free adventure mentoring to individuals who are typically underrepresented in the world of adventure. \n\n\n\nAbout the Films \n\n\n\nSwim Sistas \n\n\n\nSwim Sistas is a poetic\, visually stunning love letter to water\, sisterhood\, and the enduring strength of Black women across generations. \n\n\n\nFeaturing the voice of Academy Award nominee Naomie Harris (Moonlight) as Mami Wata\, part deity and part ancestral memory\, the film flows across generations: from a young girl diving into joy\, to Great Britain’s first and only Black female Olympic swimmer breaking historic barriers\, to a woman learning to swim at 54\, defying a legacy of inherited fear. \n\n\n\nIt is a celebration of connection\, resilience and hope\, told through the lens of the rising tide of Black women reclaiming their place in the water\, and in history. \n\n\n\nCat White /11 minutes \n\n\n\nSkate Like a Lass \n\n\n\nA female established inclusive grassroots Skateboarding communities based in the North\, UK. From the mountains in the Lake District to the Blackpool promenade. These skate collectives were created to provide a safe space & welcoming environment for female & LGBT+ skaters in the area. \n\n\n\nJuliet Klottrup / 3 minutes \n\n\n\nAlone Across Gola \n\n\n\nDeep in Liberia’s Gola rainforest\, Jude finds himself alone — his guide gone\, supplies dwindling\, and no one in sight for days. Through fear and revelation\, his journey becomes a meditation on courage\, purpose\, and what it means to follow the dreams we leave behind. \n\n\n\n20 minutes \n\n\n\nBreaking Trails \n\n\n\nTwo mountaineers\, Tom and Maud\, explore risk\, motivation\, and loss\, confronting why we seek extremes and how experience reshapes our relationship with adventure. \n\n\n\nBreaking Trails is a standout series that sees the GORE-TEX brand partner with pioneers from around the world who are breaking barriers and pushing for a more inclusive and respectful future in the outdoors. \n\n\n\n12 minutes \n\n\n\nTrango: Presented by The North Face \n\n\n\nAfter a two-year attempt\, ski mountaineers Christina ‘Lusti’ Lustenberger and Jim Morrison\, joined by Nick McNutt and Chantel Astorga\, ski the first descent of the Great Trango Glacier. They navigate risk\, grapple with grief\, and face physical danger as they push the limits of human experience. At 6\,000 meters\, constant exposure tests their resolve\, but it’s the unspoken trust and support within their expedition team that allows them to face the unimaginable together. \n\n\n\nLeo Hoorn /45 minutes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nStandard – £21.00 \n\n\n\nPay More – £26.00 \n\n\n\nPay Less – £16.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 02 April 2026 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours 30 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The North Wall Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe North Wall Arts Centre is an an award-winning theatre\, gallery and performing arts centre located in Summertown\, North Oxford.
