SUMMARY:Welsh National Opera - Rigoletto
DESCRIPTION:Welsh National Opera – Rigoletto\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Welsh National Opera – Rigoletto\n\n\n\nDepravity and deceit: a life disintegrating… \n\n\n\nStep into the raucous court of the Duke of Mantua\, where Rigoletto\, the court jester\, uses vicious wit to conceal his tormented heart. In a world teetering on the edge of debauchery and deceit\, his only joy is his daughter\, Gilda.  \n\n\n\nWhen the charming but womanising Duke sets his sights on Gilda\, his actions set in motion a tragic chain of events where a father’s love and treachery collide in a crescendo of passion and heartbreak. \n\n\n\nWelsh National Opera\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSet against the backdrop of a decadent and ruthless court\, this heart-wrenching tale explores the intricate web of love\, betrayal\, and the consequences of power.  \n\n\n\nVerdi wrote that Rigoletto was his best opera. With its rich tapestry of emotions and unforgettable melodies\, including opera’s most famous quartet and the instantly recognisable ‘La donna è mobile’\, it’s easy to see why it transcends time and continues to resonate long after the curtain falls. \n\n\n\nSung in Italian\, with English surtitles. \n\n\n\nConductor Pietro Rizzo. \n\n\n\nDirector Adele Thomas. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee. \n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nDates & times:Thursday 24 October at 7.300pmSaturday 26 October at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDuration:2 hours 45 minutes\, including an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance:16+ \n\n\n\nWarning:Contains sex and violence and other scenes that some people might find upsetting. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
Performing at London’s 600-capacity Lafayette for ‘Independent Venue Week’ in February\, The Guardian found The Pretenders “as sharp as ever\, with new songs stealing the limelight from classic hits”. \n\n\n\nThe band launched the Relentless album headlining Brighton’s The Great Escape Festival\, kicking off a UK club tour treating fans to unreleased new songs and scatterings of surprise hits\, tipped as “on such brilliant form” by The Independent. \n\n\n\nTheir surprise performance at Glastonbury\, featuring special guests Johnny Marr and Dave Grohl\, was received as a highlight of the entire festival weekend. The Telegraph described “a thrilling\, rocking\, melodious\, attitude-packed surprise set\, at the Park Stage”\, MOJO found “a thing of wonder”\, and the Metro reported\, “The Pretenders left fans well and truly in awe”. \n\n\n\nJoining Guns N’ Roses at London’s BST Hyde Park mid-way through a European arena tour\, both bands then set out across the US for huge outdoor shows through August and September\, where Chrissie Hynde joined Guns N’ Roses on stage singing and playing harmonica for a surprise performance of ‘Bad Obsession’ at Boston’s Fenway Park. \n\n\n\nA spectacular UK homecoming at BBC Radio 2 In The Park in front of 35\,000 fans in Victoria Park\, Leicester\, delighted fans before the band returned to the US for the Ohana Festival and sold-out club shows across the West Coast. \n\n\n\nTicket resale is not permitted for this event. Terms and Conditions. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\nOutrageously good \nLouder Than War\n\n\n\n\nLegendary \nSun On Sunday\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nPrices:From £62.88 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee. \n\n\n\nDates & times:Doors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance:Under 14s to be accompanied by an adult. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
