SUMMARY:Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets
DESCRIPTION:Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets\n\n\n\nNick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets is returning to the UK this June. Having last played live in the UK in May 2022 with the Echoes Tour\, they have since played extensively through the US and Europe\, including a show in Pompeii in August last year – a venue\, of course\, synonymous with the music of Pink Floyd. \n\n\n\nNick Mason says… “Six years ago when I got behind the drums again and we started playing the early Pink Floyd material\, it was a real pleasure on so many levels. Many of the tracks had never actually been played live\, so to have performed them all over the world has been something we’ve all enjoyed immensely. To get the opportunity to come back to the UK for another tour is something the band and I had been hoping we would be able to do\, so to say “we’re back” feels good!”  \n\n\n\nFormed in 2018\, Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets are Nick Mason\, Gary Kemp\, Guy Pratt\, Lee Harris and Dom Beken\, and they play Pink Floyd’s celebrated and significant early body of work\, including tracks from the era of 1967’s ‘The Piper At The Gates of Dawn’ through to 1972’s ‘Obscured By Clouds’ which has included a much-lauded rendition of the 23-minute epic ‘Echoes’. \n\n\n\nVery few bands are as culturally important as Pink Floyd. They are one of the best-selling music artists of all time\, and Nick Mason is a co-founder and the only constant member of the band performing on all of their albums as well as all of their live shows. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“The sheer joy and vigour of the band’s performance is as infectious as it is tangible.”—Ian Fortnam\, Classic Rock Magazine \n\n\n\n\n\n“It’s apparent we are witnessing something incredibly special.” —Jerry Ewing\, Prog Magazine \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat the critics say\n\n\n\n\n“…this was the most extraordinary and joyous show.”—Michael Hann\, Financial Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“What a joy it is\, then\, to see Mason back on stage leading a new band devoted to Floyd’s pre-Dark Side of the Moon days.”—Dominic Maxwell\, The Times \n\n\n\n\n\n“The sound was immense\, electrifying\, galvanising\, mesmerising and still deeply strange\, bending the formats of primal rock into all kind of weird and wonderful shapes.”—Neil McCormick\, The Daily Telegraph \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee. \n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nThis is a seated venue. SUMMARY:Rory Stewart - Politics on the Edge
DESCRIPTION:Rory Stewart – Politics on the Edge at New Theatre Oxford \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Rory Stewart – Politics on the Edge\n\n\n\nWho gets to win power\, and how do they keep it and lose it? Who is excluded from power? Does power always corrupt\, or are there examples of leaders who have maintained their integrity while in authority? \n\n\n\nJoin co-presenter of the hit podcast The Rest is Politics\, Rory Stewart – diplomat\, explorer\, cabinet minister and writer-for an evening of no-holds-barred discussion on crisis\, politics and the world order. \n\n\n\nFollowing several sold-out 2023 events\, Rory will be taking to the stage once more. Rory will reflect on how\, over a decade\, he went from being a political outsider to standing in for the prime minister – before being sacked from a Conservative Party that he had come to barely recognise. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n Rory Stewart – Politics on the Edge at New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTackling ministerial briefs on flood response and prison violence\, engaging with conflict and poverty abroad as a foreign minister\, and Brexit as a Cabinet minister\, Stewart learned firsthand how profoundly hollow and inadequate our democracy and government had become. \n\n\n\nOn stage\, Rory will engage with populism\, Brexit\, and global conflict and delve even deeper into the instant number 1 Sunday Times bestseller\, Politics On The Edge. \n\n\n\nWith a chance to ask your own questions to the man himself\, don’t miss the opportunity to hear Rory’s account of the challenges\, absurdities and realities of political life. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“This fine\, perceptive book… incisive\, thoughtful\, far more concerned with the business of good government than with the small-time idiocies of party politics.” \nJohn Simpson\n\n\n\n\n“One of the best books on politics our era will see… a book of astonishing literary quality.” \nMatthew Parris\, Times Literary Supplement\n\n\n\n\nIntense\, funny\, savage and profound. It’s the best there is on life inside the modern palaces of power. \nMichael Ignatieff\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee. \n\n\n\nSee important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTimes:Doors open 30 minutes before the show starts. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
