SUMMARY:Confessions of a Teletubby
DESCRIPTION:Confessions of a Teletubby\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Confessions of a Teletubby\n\n\n\nArguments and poo! Sex and swearing! Blood\, sweat\, tears\, and giant rabbits! Life on the set of Teletubbies might not have been quite as you imagined… \n\n\n\nFresh from sell-out shows at Edinburgh Fringe\, Confessions of a Teletubby lifts the lid on what went on behind the scenes of one of the most globally successful TV shows ever. \n\n\n\nNikky Smedley played LaaLaa (the yellow one) in the original series of Teletubbies for six years – that’s a lot of custard for a grown woman to get excited about. \n\n\n\nCome and hear how she got the job by dressing as a bistro table; what it was really like inside one of those (surprisingly large) Tubby suits; how the NooNoo really worked and why children loved the show so much. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices:Standard tickets – £15.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times:Friday 09 May 2025 at 8.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time:1 hour 15 minutes \n\n\n\nAge guidance:16+ \n\n\n\nContent guidance:This show includes some swearing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Mill Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Mill Arts Centre is the cultural hub for Banbury and the surrounding area. \n\n\n\nAs the only dedicated arts provision in the area\, it aims to inspire creativity and enrich the lives of the communities by providing a high-quality\, varied artistic\, educational and participatory programme. \n\n\n\nIt plays a significant role in the town’s cultural\, social and economic development by offering the community the chance to engage with and be entertained by several art forms. \n\n\n\nThe Mill Arts Centre offers an exciting live events programme\, including theatre\, dance\, music\, comedy\, film\, workshops and classes. SUMMARY:Heka - Gandini Juggling
DESCRIPTION:Heka – Gandini Juggling\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Heka – Gandini Juggling\n\n\n\nDirected by Sean Gandini and Kati Ylä-Hokkala \n\n\n\nEverything is not as it seems. \n\n\n\nJuggling and Magic are like long lost sisters. So similar and yet so different. \n\n\n\nGandini Juggling returns to Oxford with their new show\, Heka which means the Egyptian goddess of magic. \n\n\n\nThis captivating performance blurs the lines between juggling and illusion\, transporting audiences to a mesmerizing realm where objects materialize\, vanish\, and transform. The show poses a tantalizing question: what is real\, and what is simply a trick of perception? \n\n\n\nHeka blends humour and philosophy with contemporary choreography and world-class juggling as it reimagines magic through repetition and misdirection. \n\n\n\nAbove it all it is a celebration of the silliness and absurdity of entertainment\, a homage to the delights of the absurd.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices:From £14.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times:Saturday 10 May 2025 at 2.30pm (Relaxed Performance) and 7.30pm. \n\n\n\nRunning time:60 minutes \n\n\n\nAge guidance: 8+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Francis Rossi
DESCRIPTION:Francis Rossi\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Francis Rossi\n\n\n\n‘An Evening of Francis Rossi’s Songs from the Status Quo Songbook and more…’ Brand New Show for 2025 \n\n\n\nThe show will feature songs that Francis has not ever played before in this format and offer firsthand backstage tales about appearing over 100 times on Top Of The Pops\, why they went on first at Live Aid\, life with Rick Parfitt\, the hits\, fellow stars\, and misadventures across the world\, all cut through with Francis’ wit and humour. \n\n\n\nThe story starts with ‘Pictures of Matchstick Men’ but continues right up to the present day. The show will lift the curtain on what life is really like in one of Britain’s biggest and best bands\, and also provide some context for all the crazy stuff that has happened along the way. \n\n\n\nFrancis himself says: “This show lays out the story of Quo – some of the things that have happened I can barely believe myself – and it tells my own story too.” \n\n\n\nFrancis will mostly be playing his Acoustasonic guitar which\, as he says\, “is basically a Telecaster but is more compatible with a show of this nature – it still has the ring and sound of a Tele”. \n\n\n\nFeaturing many of his signature hits that made the Quo name\, plus some personal favourites and deeper cuts\, this is an opportunity to see one of Rock’s greatest performers! \n\n\n\n“This is a brand new show\, I have been experimenting with the catalogue and I know what works best. It’s been fascinating and I have been amazed how well some songs work in a lower key\, or with a different arrangement. In 2025 there will be plenty of songs included that I haven’t done before: Army\, Dirty Water\, Don’t Waste My Time\, Roll Over Lay Down; and even Down Down – which I was very surprised to find worked this way\, but it’s fantastic. \n\n\n\nThese shows are a real treat for me\, they suit my voice really well\, and I don’t have to yell. Plus I know people enjoy the likes of Caroline\, Paper Plane\, Break The Rules\, What You’re Proposin’\, and Rockin’ All Over The World so I’ll be putting those in again too!” \n\n\n\nWith ‘An Evening of Francis Rossi’s Songs from the Status Quo Songbook and more…’ Francis Rossi promises a refreshing take on some of his most loved and enduring material\, and indiscreet fresh tales from across the incredible career of one of Rock’s great performers and raconteurs. \n\n\n\nVIP tickets are available. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £46.26 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 10 May 2025 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. SUMMARY:The Rheingans Sisters
DESCRIPTION:The Rheingans Sisters\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Rheingans Sisters\n\n\n\nThe Rheingans Sisters’ new album Start Close In was released in September 2024 to enthusiastic acclaim; The Guardian declaring it Folk Album of the Month – “a radical leap into darkness” – and MOJO Magazine hailing it one of the Top 10 Folk Albums of 2024.  \n\n\n\nProduced by New York-based Adam Pietrykowski (whose genre-diverse work spans rock\, contemporary classical\, and prog folk)\, the visionary duo’s new album is “wildly expressive; at the forefront of the recent upsurge in experimental\, drone-led folk” (KLOF)   \n\n\n\nThe sisters’ new live show is an immersive and uplifting musical journey. Taking in baroque fiddle tunes and trance beats\, metal-inspired arrangements of traditional ballads and improvisations with phone voicenotes\, Rowan and Anna once again make music like painters; revealing in bold colours the next soaring chapter in their unmistakable brand of avant-garde trad\, blending ancient song and universal stories with future imaginings\, dystopias and dreams.  \n\n\n\nPrevious winners of BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for ‘Best Original Track’ and nominees for ‘Best Band’\, with their uniquely blended sound of fiddles\, voices\, feet\, banjos\, electric guitar\, synths and the powerful bass drones of the medieval tambourin à cordes\, The Rheingans Sisters remain one of the most visionary acts on the British folk scene today. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“A radical leap into darkness.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nGuardian \n\n\n\n\n\n“Gorgeous\, vivid songwriting.” ★★★★★ \n\n\n\nMark Radcliffe\, BBC Radio \n\n\n\n\n\n“Joyous – take a bow.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nMOJO \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£18.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 13 May 2025 at 8.00pm

Her series of poster poems on the theme of weather invites conversation around our changing climate and any accompanying shifts in our consciousness. \n\n\n\nThis project responds to archival ‘weather diaries’ of the 18th and 19th centuries\, when weather-watching was also becoming something of a fashionable national pastime. Amateur enthusiasts were reaching for barometers and thermometers on verandas and in bedrooms\, confecting a new type of language to pin down observations and hunches. \n\n\n\nThe work featured in this show focuses on the year 1824-25\, precisely 200 years ago. \n\n\n\nInside \n\n\n\nAfter fifty years of trying\, Bill Prosser is still making matter-of-fact drawings about things that don’t matter. \n\n\n\nTalk and tea with the artist Sarah  Blair \n\n\n\n17 May 2.00pm – 3.00pm \n\n\n\nJoin Sarah for a slice of cake and a tour of the exhibition. \n\n\n\nFree Entry / Booking Required \n\n\n\nIn Conversation: Bill Prosser & Sarah  Blair \n\n\n\nThursday 29 May 6.00pm – 7.30pm \n\n\n\nJoin us for drinks at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start. \n\n\n\nFree Entry / Booking Required \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFree entry \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 14 to Saturday 31 May 2025 \n\n\n\nOpening hours: Monday to Saturday at 10.00am – 4.00pm \n\n\n\nClosed: Sunday and Bank Holidays \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The North Wall Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe North Wall Arts Centre is an an award-winning theatre\, gallery and performing arts centre located in Summertown\, North Oxford. SUMMARY:Lunchtime Talk: 'Lost in the Woods: The Story of Slade Camp'
DESCRIPTION:Lost in the Woods: The Story of Slade Camp\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Lunchtime Talk: ‘Lost in the Woods: The Story of Slade Camp’\n\n\n\n‘Lost in the Woods: The story of Slade Camp and a rediscovered Oxford community’ \n\n\n\nThe Slade Camp was set out in open fields on the edge of Shotover in the late 1930s as part of the military preparations for war. The camp saw action during WWII: as a training centre\, for housing returning troops from Dunkirk and assisting in demobbing soldiers. \n\n\n\nBut it was after 1945 that the wooden huts and network of tarmacked roads served their most useful function when the camp was used to help deal with the post-war housing crisis. Army buildings became family homes as hundreds of people arrived to set up a new community. \n\n\n\nThe neighbourhood grew and thrived with Shotover Woods becoming a playground for the children who lived there. The last residents left the camp in the early 1970s\, but the history of the place and the people who lived there mirrors the development of modern-day Oxford and tells us much about social and cultural changes in the city. \n\n\n\nJoin Maurice East to hear how ordinary people built a community in the aftermath of war and how the fascinating story was rediscovered during lockdown fifty years later. \n\n\n\nComplimentary tea and coffee will be available to enjoy during the talk. We recommend arriving before the start of the talk if you would like to grab a refreshment. \n\n\n\nSales from tickets help support our work to deliver fun and accessible family activities\, community engagement projects\, school workshops\, exhibitions\, and special events for Oxford’s people in our Museum spaces. \n\n\n\nMaurice East is a local historian who was born and raised in Oxford. He interprets the social history of the city through the lens of growing up as a ‘townie’ and shines a spotlight on stories far off the usual tourist trail. His main area of research is the history of car making at Cowley and how the arrival of industry\, cars\, and blue-collar workers changed Oxford forever in the early twentieth century. \n\n\n\nAccess: \n\n\n\nThere is step-free\, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax Tower (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum\, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift to the Galleries and then a lift to the basement. \n\n\n\nAccessible toilets are available in the Museum (close to Museum Makers) and in the Town Hall on the ground floor\, before entering the Museum. Please contact the Museum team if you’d like to talk to a member of staff about your access requirements. Further access information can be found on our page dedicated to access at the museum. \n\n\n\nPhoto consent: \n\n\n\nPlease be aware that photographs will be taken at this event for use in marketing. If you (or a member of your group) would prefer not to be photographed\, please let a member of staff know during the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £5.00 \n\n\n\nTickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite (booking fee of £1.13 applies) or at the Museum Shop. \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 14 May 2025 at 1.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Museum of Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Museum of Oxford is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of Oxford and its people. Located inside the Oxford Town Hall\, it explores the city’s rich history beyond the university\, focusing on the lives\, industries\, and communities that have shaped Oxford over time. \n\n\n\nThe museum features interactive exhibits\, local artefacts\, and personal stories\, covering topics such as Oxford’s medieval origins\, its diverse communities\, and key moments in its development. It also hosts temporary exhibitions\, events\, and activities for all ages. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about the Museum of Oxford.

SUMMARY:SJE Arts International Piano Series: Elisabeth Brauß
DESCRIPTION:SJE Arts International Piano Series: Elisabeth Brauß\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout SJE Arts International Piano Series: Elisabeth Brauß\n\n\n\nBach Capriccio in B-flat major BWV 992 \n\n\n\nBeethoven Piano Sonata no. 26\, op. 81a ‘Les Adieux’ \n\n\n\nInterval \n\n\n\nR. Schumann Geistervariationen ‘Ghost Variations’ \n\n\n\nProkofiev Piano Sonata no. 7\, op. 83 ‘Stalingrad’ \n\n\n\nBorn in Hannover in 1995\, Elisabeth Brauß is one of the most exciting musicians of her generation. She performs across Europe and\, as a former BBC New Generation Artist\, is a frequent visitor to the UK. \n\n\n\nHer current season includes a return to Wigmore Hall for a solo recital and concerto engagements with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. It also sees her touring North America with concerts in Montreal and across the USA\, ending at the Phillips Collection Museum\, Washington DC. \n\n\n\nElisabeth’s performance of Robert Schumann’s Carnaval in the 2024 Piano Series was so popular that she was instantly invited back. This time she plays his ‘Ghost Variations’\, a work composed in the period immediately before his admission to the asylum for the insane. Schumann was suffering hallucinations\, voices were playing music to him and allowing him\, in his own words\, ‘magnificent revelations’. \n\n\n\nWorks with titles are intriguing\, and Elisabeth gives us two more. ‘Les Adieux’ was Beethoven’s farewell to his patron Archduke Rudolph\, when he was forced to leave Vienna as Napoleon’s army took the city. ‘Stalingrad\,’ one of Prokofiev’s three War Sonatas\, is hard to pin down. It contains some of Prokofiev’s most dissonant and brutal writing but also some of his warmest. The contrast is a perpetually interesting one. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch Elisabeth perform Mozart’s Piano Sonata in A minor\, Wigmore Hall\, January 2022\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Following a spell as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist\, German pianist Elisabeth Brauß is making a name for herself in the UK. Stylistically assured\, her playing bristles with vitality. I recall a terrific Prokofiev Second Piano Sonata at Wigmore Hall…..” \n\n\n\nBachtrack – Rising Stars: ten to watch in 2024-25 \n\n\n\n\n\n“The maturity and sophistication of her thoughtful interpretations would be the pride of any pianist twice her age.”  \n\n\n\nGramophone \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nUnder 30s – £15.00-£30.00 \n\n\n\nStudents and carers – £5.00-£20.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 14 May 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout SJE Arts Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSJE Arts Oxford is a concert venue and arts organisation based at St John the Evangelist Church on Iffley Road\, Oxford. \n\n\n\nThe church itself was built in the 19th century as part of a monastery established by the Cowley Fathers\, an Anglican religious community. Its striking Victorian Gothic architecture and serene atmosphere provide an exceptional setting for artistic and cultural events. \n\n\n\nSince its transformation into an arts venue\, SJE Arts has become known for its outstanding acoustics and diverse programming. It regularly hosts classical music concerts\, jazz performances\, choral recitals\, and more\, attracting internationally acclaimed musicians and ensembles. The venue also contributes to the cultural vibrancy of Oxford by offering visual arts exhibitions\, lectures\, and community events. \n\n\n\nConveniently located near the city centre\, SJE Arts blends history and culture\, making it a favourite destination for locals and visitors seeking enriching artistic experiences. \n\n\n\nFind out more SJE Arts Oxford\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

His work has not been limited to musical theatre alone with Evita transferring to the big screen and theme music for the James Bond movie Octopussy. \n\n\n\nWith the show packed full of songs including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina\, Any Dream Will Do\, A Whole New World\, Can You Feel The Love Tonight\, I Don’t Know How To Love Him\, Circle of Life\, Chess\, Hakuna Matata\, Another Suitcase in Another Hall\, I Know Him So Well\, All Time High\, Must Love Me\, One Night In Bangkok\, My Life In Musicals is an absolute must for fans of musical theatre and brilliant music. \n\n\n\nRegarded by many as one of the world’s greatest lyricists Tim Rice commented “My Life in Musicals is a show in which I reveal all (well\, nearly all) of the secrets behind the creation of some of the best-known songs featuring my lyrics. I have had the good fortune to work with some of the greatest composers of our time\, including Andrew Lloyd Webber\, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson\, Elton John\, and Alan Menken\, without whose wonderful melodies I’d be at home watching television. \n\n\n\nYou’ll probably know quite a few of the songs – and will therefore be relieved to hear I won’t be singing them. All musical aspects of the show I hand over to the outstanding Duncan Waugh Band and West End Singers. There will be plenty of stops in between the hits during which I’ll tell you how they happened and\, in some cases\, nearly didn’t. Actually\, I might sing a little – but not Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking Information\n\n\n\nTicket Prices:From £29.50 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95. \n\n\n\nDate & time:Thursday 15 May 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\nThere has been a theatre on George Street for almost 170 years.
