A vocal and instrumental tour de force\, where street traders shout out news of their wares\, and we can buy fish\, apple pies\, chestnuts\, cabbage\, ink\, oysters\, waistcoats; even a poking stick with a dubious handle… \n\n\n\nAll of Jacobean life\, packed into a few minutes. Bringing the celebration up to date is a piece by acclaimed composer Nico Muhly. Locally\, outrage has tended to be mixed with an acute sense of loss\, disempowerment\, frustration\, and grief. Tamesis Unweaving aims to develop ways of addressing and acknowledging these emotions\, through collective discussion\, introspection\, creativity\, and action.   \n\n\n\nThis workshop will focus on the Tamesis robe\, currently on display in the Lower galleries of the OFS\, and use textile art to provide a framework for talking about and processing ecological emotions\, putting names to undefined feelings\, re-stitching our connections to the more-than-human-world in an approachable\, accessible way\, and helping our community find pathways towards taking action\, through citizen science\, art\, and activism. \n\n\n\nLed by artist Anya Gleizer\, the workshop will involve quilting and embroidery\, drawing\, and water-based painting. The results of each workshop will be added (with your permission!) to the Tamesis Robe\, a tapestry garment whose train is a to-scale large-scale map of the Thames Watershed. The first theatre was built in 1836\, and a second in 1886.
