SUMMARY:The King's Speech
DESCRIPTION:The King’s Speech\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The King’s Speech\n\n\n\nPresented by Barn Theatre \n\n\n\nBy David Seidler \n\n\n\nThe world is listening…    \n\n\n\nA country on the precipice of another terrible war. An abdicated king. A constitutional crisis. And the only man who can provide hope for the nervous British public is Bertie – a man who is shy\, unprepared for monarchy and\, worst of all\, has a debilitating speech impediment.    \n\n\n\nWith the future of the monarchy\, and Britain itself\, on the line\, a historic radio address looms over a man who can barely stammer through full sentences. Desperate\, Bertie and his family turn to an unconventional speech therapist from Australia to turn him into the king Britain can believe in.    \n\n\n\nAs royal protocol meets unorthodox challenges\, what emerges is an unlikely but deeply meaningful friendship. \n\n\n\nAdapted from the Oscar-winning film\, this exciting new production from the acclaimed Barn Theatre blends humour\, heart and high stakes in a beloved drama about duty\, courage and finding one’s voice.Praise for previous productions \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Deeply layered.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Guardian (Haywire\, 2025) \n\n\n\n\n\n“Energetic and whole-hearted performances.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nStageTalk Magazine (The Last Five Years\, 2025) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £15.00 \n\n\n\nAll orders will be subject to a per transaction booking fee of £2.75 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 13 to Saturday 16 January 2027 \n\n\n\nWednesday\, Thursday and Friday at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nSaturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\nThis show has an interval \n\n\n\nAge guidance:  \n\n\n\n12+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Oxford Playhouse\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse and its Burton Taylor Studio present and produce several live performances and feature a rich array of British and international dramas\, family entertainment\, contemporary dance and music\, student and amateur shows\, comedy\, lectures and poetry. \n\n\n\nThe Playhouse not only produces and tours its own theatrical productions\, but it also fosters creativity through its Artists in Residence program and the Playhouse Plays Out series\, which brings unique events to various locations across the county. \n\n\n\nThe theatre’s Participation Team engages over 15\,000 individuals annually\, offering an extensive range of activities\, including post-show discussions\, workshops\, work experience opportunities\, holiday programs\, a youth theatre\, and a company for young performers. \n\n\n\nOxford Playhouse stands dedicated to its mission of being a Playhouse for all\, striving to ignite inspiration and bring about transformative experiences through its commitment to creativity on its stages\, within its community and online. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about Oxford Playhouse\, including travel\, access and venue information.
