SUMMARY:Frankenstein (On A Budget)
DESCRIPTION:Frankenstein (On A Budget)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Frankenstein (On A Budget)\n\n\n\nOne man\, one monster\, one glorious dream to single-handedly tell the most famous cult horror story of all time\, and absolutely no budget whatsoever. What could possibly go wrong? \n\n\n\nFrankenstein (On a Budget) features one actor\, some decidedly dodgy backdrops\, lots of weather-based puns\, plenty of cardboard props\, and more hats than you can throw a stick at. Can our ill-fated doctor build his monstrous creation\, play 25 characters\, sing a lot of songs\, attempt accents from across the world\, perform a dance routine\, and ultimately save the day in just 60 minutes? \n\n\n\nFeaturing a full soundtrack of brand new music\, with incredible cardboard creations and characters inspired by Mary Shelley and Boris Karloff\, Frankenstein (On a Budget) is the comedy musical hammer horror homage that you didn’t know you needed. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews \n\n\n\n\n“As poignant as it is joyful.”  \n\n\n\nBritish Theatre Guide \n\n\n\n\n\n“At times reminiscent of War Horse and Life of Pi\, it will be hard to vanish the memories of this production from the minds of the captivated audiences.”  \n\n\n\nThe Irish Times \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nStandard – £18.50 \n\n\n\nUnder 26s – £8.50 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 11 June 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n14+ \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. It is a resource for the community\, and it is also a professional venue\, welcoming over 55\,000 customer visits every year. \n\n\n\nIt is something unique\, but it is also different things to different people. It is the cause and subject of many arguments and debates; and a fair amount of acclaim and affection. It is complicated and a little eccentric. \n\n\n\nIt is not a little theatre. It likes to make a big noise. \n\n\n\nDiscover more about The Theatre Chipping Norton\, including travel\, access and venue information.

SUMMARY:Museum of Oxford Walks: Shakespeare and Oxford
DESCRIPTION:Museum of Oxford Walks: Shakespeare and Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Museum of Oxford Walks: Shakespeare and Oxford\n\n\n\nNew for 2025\, celebrating the Museum of Oxford’s 50th birthday! \n\n\n\nShakespeare came to Oxford when travelling between work (London) and his family (Stratford-upon-Avon) – what a commute! What was Oxford like during his lifetime? What did he get up to while he was in town? \n\n\n\nThis is an opportunity to pause and look carefully at Oxford city centre\, noticing Elizabethan and Jacobean details you might pass by every day. The tour includes a unique Tudor bedroom above Cornmarket Street\, the famous Painted Room which will be opened specially by Oxford Preservation Trust\, just for us! \n\n\n\nWant to know more about Elizabethan eating and drinking\, entertainment\, and travel? Or the rollercoaster of religious change in Tudor and Stuart England? Led by historian Dr Elizabeth Sandis\, this is a Shakespeare-themed journey through Oxford’s famous streets. \n\n\n\nAt the end there will be an optional 20-minute extension to the tour (included in the price)\, exploring Tudor and Stuart treasures in the Museum of Oxford’s galleries. \n\n\n\nAccessibility and further information \n\n\n\nMeeting point: Museum of Oxford shop (located inside the Oxford Town Hall). Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the walk and check in at the Museum Shop with our friendly front-of-house team. \n\n\n\nThe walk lasts for approximately 90 minutes and is a circular walk around central Oxford. Length: approximately 1.2 miles / 1.9 km. Two toilet stops are available along the way. \n\n\n\nPlease note the Tudor Painted Room is up a steep flight of stairs without a lift; it is sadly not accessible to wheelchairs. The rest of the tour can be adapted to offer a more wheelchair-friendly route\, avoiding narrow doorways and cobbles (please let us know if you would prefer this option by emailing museum@oxford.gov.uk). \n\n\n\nMeet your tour guide: Elizabeth Sandis \n\n\n\nShakespeare and Oxford\n\n\n\nDr Elizabeth Sandis works at the Ashmolean Museum and is the author of Early Modern Drama at the Universities: Institutions\, Intertexts\, Individuals (Oxford University Press\, 2022). She researches the way in which the Classical culture of Greece and Rome impacted English society and values during the early modern period. With a passion for local history and theatre\, she enjoys translating and staging examples of the kind of plays students were producing in Oxford during the time of Shakespeare. \n\n\n\nAccess at the Museum \n\n\n\nThe Museum is accessible for wheelchair users\, buggies\, and baby carriers. There is step-free\, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum\, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift and lift to the basement level. Accessible toilets are available in the Museum (close to Museum Makers) and in the Town Hall on the ground floor\, before entering the Museum. \n\n\n\nPlease contact the Museum team if you’d like to talk to a member of staff about your access requirements. SUMMARY:Opera Anywhere: The Marriage of Figaro
DESCRIPTION:Opera Anywhere: The Marriage of Figaro\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Opera Anywhere: The Marriage of Figaro\n\n\n\nIn the Court of Count Almaviva\, there’s a divide. The servants are young\, wild\, and free – but the elders have other ideas and would prefer traditions to stay exactly as they are! \n\n\n\nJust for one day\, however\, the new and the old collide as New Romantics\, Figaro and Susanna\, attempt to escape into a modern world\, while old Romantics\, Almaviva and Bartolo\, very much cling to the rules of the past. \n\n\n\nDelight in Opera Anywhere’s brand new production and fall in love with Mozart’s beloved characters all over again as we ride the waves of comedy and drama together. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nStandard – £22.00   \n\n\n\nConcessions – £18.00 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nFriday 13 June 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. DESCRIPTION:Charlbury Farmers’ Market\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Charlbury Farmers’ Market\n\n\n\nCharlbury is a Cotswold Market Town with a Charter granted by King Henry III in 1256. \n\n\n\nThe original market place was in Church Street\, but nowadays\, there is too much traffic\, and street closure is not an option. \n\n\n\nThe Playing Close is a superb location\, and the Trustees of Thomas Gifford’s Charity (the landowner) has agreed that the markets can take place there. \n\n\n\nAll the produce comes from within a 50-mile radius of Charlbury and complies with TVFMC rules. The market also allows stalls that promote Charlbury’s many activities\, such as the annual Street Fair\, Beer Festival and Children’s Playgroup. \n\n\n\nThe market takes place quarterly – on the 2nd Saturday of March\, June\, September and December.

SUMMARY:Joy of Scything Summer Workshop at Cogges
DESCRIPTION:Joy of Scything Summer Workshop at Cogges\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Joy of Scything Summer Workshop at Cogges\n\n\n\nThis one day course is designed to introduce you to using and looking after an Austrian scythe. The course is suitable for a range of experience levels\, from complete beginners to those who have been using a scythe but feel that it could be working better for them. \n\n\n\nThe structure of the day will be as follows: \n\n\n\n\nIntroduction and familiarisation\n\n\n\nSetting up an Austrian scythe\n\n\n\nMovement and technique\n\n\n\nMowing practice\n\n\n\nSharpening in the field\n\n\n\nMaintenance and peening of the blade\n\n\n\nThere will be a break for lunch at 12.30pm\n\n\n\n\nThe scythe is a highly efficient tool and is regarded as the appropriate technology for a wide variety of situations\, much wider than many would think\, from meadows and reedbeds to allotments and lawns\, in professional and amateur contexts. In addition to its efficiency\, versatility\, outstanding green credentials\, and health benefits for both body and mind\, the scythe is an extremely cost-effective tool. Once set up with a basic kit no further outlay is required\, and maintenance is simple and enjoyable. \n\n\n\nAbout the tutor \n\n\n\nNicole Clough is a Scythe Teacher and regional contact for the Scythe Association of Britain & Ireland. Find out more. \n\n\n\n“I train because I’m passionate about everyone getting a good initial experience with scything. The scythe has had bad press over recent years\, the main implications being that they are hard work\, cause backache\, and are less efficient than their machine equivalents. Yet the truth is quite the opposite. They are easy and a pleasure to use once the basic principles are understood; in fact\, many people fall in love with scything once they have tried it.” \n\n\n\nCourse details \n\n\n\nPlease arrive in time for a 10.00am start. The course is expected to finish by 4.30pm. \n\n\n\nThere will be a break for lunch. Due to the nature of the training\, the course will be held outside in the paddocks and meadow at Cogges\, therefore please wear or bring suitable clothing\, weather protection and stout footwear. Cogges Kitchen cafe will be open from 9.00am\, last orders at 4.00pm.  \n\n\n\nCosts \n\n\n\n6 places are available on this course. \n\n\n\nThe cost of the training is £110 per person\, including lunch.  Refunds are available only if we re-sell your place. \n\n\n\nMost attendees prefer to purchase an Austrian scythe in advance to set up and learn during the course. However\, Nicole has a limited number of training scythes that can be borrowed\, but this must be by prior arrangement\, and an additional hire cost of £20 will apply (contact Nicole in advance at https://joyofscything.uk/contact/). \n\n\n\nAttendees need only the basic Austrian scythe setup\, to include the following: \n\n\n\n\nSnath plus handles\n\n\n\nBlade (for grass and non-woody vegetation)\n\n\n\nScythe ring\n\n\n\nAllen key\n\n\n\n10mm spanner\n\n\n\nSharpening stone (canoe)\n\n\n\nStone sheath or suitable container to hold sharpening stone and water\n\n\n\nWork gloves to use whilst sharpening\n\n\n\n\nRecommended suppliers: Simon Fairlie – Supplier of Austrian Scythes \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\n£110.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 14 June 2025 at 10.00am \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n6 hours 30 minutes\, including a lunch break \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nOutside in the paddocks and meadow

SUMMARY:Why God Created Lesbians by Clare Summerskill
DESCRIPTION:Why God Created Lesbians by Clare Summerskill\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Why God Created Lesbians by Clare Summerskill\n\n\n\nIn her brand-new one-woman show\, Clare Summerskill attempts to explain the point of the perplexing sexual minority to which she belongs\, asking why lesbians exist? Is it to ease the pressure on cat rescue centres? Is it to ensure that Shibden Hall remains a viable tourist attraction? Or is it to write one-woman comedy shows featuring songs\, standup\, and storytelling? After decades of field research\, she thinks she has the answer.  \n\n\n\nExpect silliness\, satire\, and self-deprecation from crowd-pleaser Clare Summerskill as she hits the road with her funniest show yet. Clare will share the previously unheard story of the lesbian squirrel on the Ark\, forced to take up a complaint about compulsory heterosexuality with Noah himself; and she will finally uncover the Almighty’s real opinion about women-loving-women.    \n\n\n\nA packed comedy show with original songs from ‘one of the funniest women in the country’ (What’s On) with a keen fanbase across the UK (gay and straight!). Clare has previously written for BBC Radio 4’s Weekending and Heated Rollers and toured her shows to theatres in the UK and the US.    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat the critics say\n\n\n\n\n“Engaging and Charming.”  \n\n\n\nTime Out  \n\n\n\n\n\n“A lesbian Victoria Wood.”  \n\n\n\nWoman’s Hour BBC Radio 4   \n\n\n\n\n\n“Fantastic show\, hilarious\, witty\, intelligent and moving.” ★★★★★ \n\n\n\nAudience member  \n\n\n\n\n\n“What are you waiting for?
