SUMMARY:Bodies Condemned by Oblivion
DESCRIPTION:Bodies Condemned by Oblivion\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Bodies Condemned by Oblivion\n\n\n\nExperience the world premiere of a powerful new English translation of Bodies Condemned by Oblivion (Cuerpos Desahuciados por el Olvido) by Colombian playwright Jhonnathan Velasquez\, presented as a rehearsed reading by local LGBTIQ+ actors from Oxford. \n\n\n\nSet during Colombia’s armed conflict\, the play follows two young men who are forcibly recruited into guerrilla forces. As they navigate the violence and uncertainty of war\, they must also confront their love for one another and the challenges of living authentically in a world shaped by conflict. \n\n\n\nMoving between moments of separation\, memory and survival\, this play offers an intimate portrait of resilience in the face of violence. \n\n\n\nThis special performance forms part of an international collaboration between artists from the UK\, Colombia\, and Mexico\, exploring how queer communities use creativity to resist violence\, preserve memory\, and imagine new futures. \n\n\n\nThe second half of the evening is produced in collaboration with Queer Voices\, from T(Art) Productions\, featuring performances of work from local members of the LGBTIQ+ community reflecting on their own experiences of love in the margins. \n\n\n\nThis will include works created in a workshop with the playwright and Mexican author Julio Diaz Calderon\, reflecting on queer memories of violence\, discrimination and joy. \n\n\n\nThis partnership brings together theatre-makers\, performers and community participants to reflect on shared experiences across cultures while recognising their distinct histories and contexts. \n\n\n\nThe evening concludes with a conversation featuring the performers and the creative team\, exploring the role of queer storytelling\, artistic collaboration and performance as acts of resistance. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nAdult – £11.00 \n\n\n\nStudent – £10.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nWednesday 28 October 2026 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours\, including an interval \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nTheatre \n\n\n\nAge guidance:  \n\n\n\n16+

SUMMARY:The Michael Portillo Show
DESCRIPTION:The Michael Portillo Show\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Michael Portillo Show\n\n\n\nSecretary of State. Traveller. TV superstar. The inimitable Michael Portillo comes live on stage to share funny\, insightful\, and poignant stories from his extraordinarily rich and varied life. \n\n\n\nThe son of a refugee who rose to become one of Britain’s leading politicians and best loved broadcasters\, Michael Portillo’s life has been a game of two halves. \n\n\n\nAs a statesman\, he served under Margaret Thatcher\, ran for the leadership of the Conservative Party\, and lost his seat in one of the most famous moments in British political history\, only to become one of the nation’s favourite broadcasters\, sparring with Diane Abbott and Andrew O’Neill and enthralling millions of us with his travels on the world’s greatest railways. \n\n\n\nIn this unique stage show\, Michael will share his life story\, from his late father’s experiences of the Spanish Civil War and escape to England\, where he and Michael’s mother met while looking after refugee children\, all the way to his present-day adventures travelling across Spain\, the USA\, India\, and beyond. \n\n\n\nWe’ll hear Michael’s funny and insightful observations about his old boss Margaret Thatcher and his reflections on the decay of political power. He’ll tell us about his break into TV – including the time he became a single mum… \n\n\n\nAnd\, of course\, we’ll hear about the great railway journeys he has undertaken and what they can tell us about the history and state of the world today. \n\n\n\nWhether you are passionate about politics or a fan of Michael’s many international adventures\, this is an unmissable treat. SUMMARY:What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner
DESCRIPTION:What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner at New Theatre Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout What’s Love Got To Do With It? A Tribute To Tina Turner\n\n\n\nAfter a sensational 2025 that saw over 60\,000 Tina Turner fans across the UK singing\, dancing\, and having the time of their lives\, What’s Love Got To Do With It? is back and bigger than ever for 2026! \n\n\n\nThis electrifying tribute show celebrates the music and unparalleled career of the one and only Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll\, Tina Turner. Get ready for an unforgettable evening of high-energy\, feel-good rock and soul\, brought to life by a phenomenal live band. \n\n\n\nPacked with all the classic hits you know and love\, the show delivers showstopping performances of Proud Mary\, River Deep – Mountain High\, Simply The Best\, Private Dancer\, Nutbush City Limits\, and many more. \n\n\n\nStepping into Tina’s iconic heels is Kent’s own Holly Bannis\, the daughter of Greg Bannis\, former lead singer of Hot Chocolate. \n\n\n\nHolly’s rise to center stage is as inspiring as it is exciting. Growing up in a musical family\, Holly honed her craft for over a decade performing semi-professionally before an audition on ITV’s Starstruck changed her life. “I had to audition as three of my musical icons\, and Tina was an obvious choice for me. During lockdown\, I studied her performances obsessively\, getting into her moves\, her walk\, and her energy.” \n\n\n\nIt wasn’t long before the team behind What’s Love Got To Do With It? noticed Holly’s raw talent and passion. Initially cast as a backing singer and understudy\, Holly quickly stepped into the spotlight\, making the lead role her own and earning standing ovations night after night. \n\n\n\nAudiences can expect a show bursting with energy\, emotion\, and that signature Tina fire. The production kicks off with hits like Private Dancer\, as Holly fully inhabits Tina’s powerful vocals and unmistakable moves\, transporting fans to the heart of a live Tina Turner concert experience. Then\, in the show-stopping second half\, the audience is guaranteed to be on their feet\, dancing and singing along to high-octane classics like Nutbush City Limits. \n\n\n\nWhat’s Love Got To Do With It? isn’t just a concert – it’s a celebration of Tina Turner’s legacy\, a night of unrelenting joy\, and a tribute to one of the most electrifying performers in music history. \n\n\n\nPlease note that this is a tribute production and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the Tina Turner Estate. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s Love Got To Do With It?
