Find out how the significant families which controlled these businesses influenced Oxford’s developing economic\, social and political life. \n\n\n\nJoin a Beer\, Sausages and Marmalade walking tour to see Oxford through the eyes of an expert and discover the unique food heritage embedded in the heart of Oxford. \n\n\n\nAs part of the tour\, you will see: Frank Cooper’s Marmalade Factory\, the old Swan Brewery malthouse\, the street that was once described as a ‘dreadful sort of place’ – and more historic Oxford locations. \n\n\n\nAccessibility and further information \n\n\n\nMeeting point: Museum of Oxford shop (located inside the Oxford Town Hall). Please email museum@oxford.gov.uk if you would like to discuss any access requirements ahead of booking a walk.  \n\n\n\nMeet your tour guide: Liz Woolley \n\n\n\nLiz Woolley is a local historian specialising in the history of Oxford’s ‘town’ – as opposed to ‘gown’ – and of the everyday lives of ordinary working people\, chiefly during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Liz has lived in Oxford for forty years and has an MSc in English Local History from the University’s Department for Continuing Education. She is an experienced tour guide\, speaker\, tutor\, researcher\, and writer\, who enjoys helping people discover the perhaps less well-known history of Oxford and its citizens. \n\n\n\nAccess at the Museum \n\n\n\nThe Museum is accessible for wheelchair users\, buggies\, and baby carriers. There is step-free\, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Other traders produce fantastic cakes\, jams\, chutneys\, pasta\, chocolates and even plants and soaps. \n\n\n\nThe market has an amazing range of freshly made dishes from diverse food regions – Japanese\, Middle-Eastern\, Asian\, and the Mediterranean. There’s also a cafe that serves coffee\, tea\, cakes\, and a ‘Full Wolvercote’ breakfast. \n\n\n\nThe market is open every Sunday from 10.00am to noon at The White Hart Community Pub in Godstow Road\, Lower Wolvercote. \n\n\n\nThere is a Repair Café and bike clinic on the 2nd Sunday of each monthBring along your broken small electrical item\, and a trained volunteer will try to fix it for you and save it from the landfill. They also have volunteer mechanics to provide tune-ups and repairs\, and to offer advice to get your cycles rolling smoothly. \n\n\n\nIf you’re arriving by bicycle\, there are plenty of bike racks and a regular bike.

These tickets are priced according to their view (in varying degrees) of the Floating Stage. \n\n\n\nLawn (Premier\, A\, B\, C and Restricted View) tickets give you the chance to see everything at the festival and view the Floating Stage concert under the stars in an allocated seat on the grassed Lawn area. Following on\, you will be contacted by the Henley Festival Mooring Team and asked to complete and return a mooring form. It could be the location of a first date\, a Saturday job\, a regular meeting point\, or the place you went for a favourite childhood treat. \n\n\n\nJoin Maurice East to explore the history of Oxford through the fascinating stories of ever-changing city centre shops through the ages. \n\n\n\nThe tour will explore: the ‘shambles’ of medieval Oxford; the hidden Jewish quarter of St Aldates; the alleyways of the covered market; lost coaching inns; grand department stores; the controversial destruction of a famous hotel; and much much more! \n\n\n\nAccessibility and further information: \n\n\n\nMeeting point: Museum of Oxford shop (located inside the Oxford Town Hall). Please arrive 5 minutes before the start of the walk and check in at the Museum Shop with our friendly front of house team. \n\n\n\nThe walk lasts 1.5 hours. It starts and ends at the Town Hall. \n\n\n\nThe route is flat\, on paved streets and is easy walking. He interprets the social history of the city through the lens of growing up as a ‘townie’ and shines a spotlight on stories far off the usual tourist trail. His main area of research is the history of car making at Cowley and how the arrival of industry\, cars and blue collar workers changed Oxford forever in the early twentieth century. \n\n\n\nAccess \n\n\n\nThe Museum is accessible for wheelchair users\, buggies\, and baby carriers. There is step-free\, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum\, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift and lift to the basement level. DESCRIPTION:South Oxford Farmers and Community Market\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the South Oxford Farmers and Community Market\n\n\n\nThe South Oxford Farmers and Community Market is a weekly market selling local\, seasonal food and non-food goods. \n\n\n\n‘Local’ means produced within a 30-mile radius of Oxford and ‘produced’ means containing a significant quantity of local ingredients and labour although locality rules do not necessarily apply to ethical enterprises such as Fairtrade or similar organisations. \n\n\n\nThe market also supports the resale of locally-sourced second-hand products such as books and clothing. \n\n\n\nThe market is held every Sunday from 10.00am to noon in the courtyard of the South Oxford Community Centre on Lake Street. \n\n\n\nWeekly/regular vendors include: \n\n\n\n\nNatural Bread Company\n\n\n\nClays Organic Vegetables\n\n\n\nBrill Organic Vegetables\n\n\n\nEadles of Beckley\n\n\n\nSofacoma Wholefoods\n\n\n\nCelia’s Bakery\n\n\n\nFAI Eggs\n\n\n\nRaffaele Pepe\n\n\n\nJericho Coffee Traders\n\n\n\n\nThe South Oxford Farmers and Community Market is an initiative of the Low Carbon South Oxford (LCSO) Community Action Group\, and it is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers – all residents of South Oxford.

It is now owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group and hosts everything from ballet and opera to musicals. \n\n\n\nOn performance days\, the Box Office opens at noon and closes 15 minutes after the show starts. If there is a performance on a Sunday or Bank Holiday\, Box Office will open 2 hours before the show begins and close 15 minutes after the show starts. \n\n\n\nThere is a large air-conditioned bar with seating located below the Stalls Foyer\, two further bars in the Circle Foyer and an additional one at the back of the balcony.
