The market aims to provide the community with locally-produced great tasting food. \n\n\n\nThe Sunday market serves the community and visitors by providing fresh\, affordable and ethically sourced food as well as a place to meet\, eat and socialise with friends and neighbours. It also provides a free marketplace for local producers and crafts people. \n\n\n\nRegular stallholders bring fresh fruit and veg\, locally reared meat\, sustainably sourced fish\, artisan bread\, cheese and milk. Other traders produce fantastic cakes\, jams\, chutneys\, pasta\, chocolates and even plants and soaps. \n\n\n\nThe market has an amazing range of freshly made dishes from diverse food regions – Japanese\, Middle-Eastern\, Asian\, and the Mediterranean. There’s also a cafe that serves coffee\, tea\, cakes\, and a ‘Full Wolvercote’ breakfast. \n\n\n\nThe market is open every Sunday from 10.00am to noon at The White Hart Community Pub in Godstow Road\, Lower Wolvercote. \n\n\n\nThere is a Repair Café and bike clinic on the 2nd Sunday of each monthBring along your broken small electrical item\, and a trained volunteer will try to fix it for you and save it from the landfill. They also have volunteer mechanics to provide tune-ups and repairs\, and to offer advice to get your cycles rolling smoothly. \n\n\n\nIf you’re arriving by bicycle\, there are plenty of bike racks and a regular bike.

Take a peek into Santa’s world before meeting the man himself and receiving a gift.  \n\n\n\nAfterwards\, there will be refreshments and festive cheer in the cosy Manor House kitchen. \n\n\n\nSeparate Meet Santa tickets need to be purchased for children alongside normal admission to Cogges Manor Farm. Season Ticket Holders only need to purchase a Meet Santa Ticket. \n\n\n\n‘Meet Santa’ will be available every weekend in December from 10.00am to 5.00pm plus Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December. There is limited availability\, so please don’t delay in booking your slot. \n\n\n\nThe Party & Craft Barn \n\n\n\nKids will be able to burn off energy and boogie away to festive tunes at our Christmas Disco and take part in a whole host of exciting Christmas Craft Activities in our Party and Craft Barn.   \n\n\n\nThe Christmas Disco in the Party and Craft Barn is being offered as part of the normal admission price. A small additional charge may apply for some craft activities. You know that he needs the reindeer to deliver all the presents on Christmas Eve. \n\n\n\nCan you help him find them? \n\n\n\nExplore the unique collection of Great Western Railway steam locomotives\, carriages\, wagons\, buildings\, and small artefacts at the 21-acre museum set around the original 1932 engine shed whilst you locate all the reindeer stations. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll receive a special passport and a stocking as you enter\, and at each reindeer station\, you’ll receive a small gift as a reward. The visit will culminate with a visit to Santa in the giant toy workshop\, where he’ll hear what you want to get for Christmas\, and you’ll get to choose your own gift from the selection on offer. Your entry ticket will also include unlimited train rides on the main demonstration line. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere will be seasonal refreshments in the catering building to enjoy as you explore the original 1932 GWR Engine Shed. Here\, you can see more restored locomotives\, see the footplate of some\, and meet Eddie the Engine Driver\, who will be telling festive tales of the railways at Christmas time. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGates open at 9.30am\, and you’ll need to book a specific arrival time as space on the trains is limited – you’ll receive a boarding pass confirming your itinerary on arrival. It is an evening of various activities with a lovely Christmas feel\, including seasonal music and light.  \n\n\n\nInitially\, it was designed to promote Christmas shopping and allow the local retailers to thank their customers for supporting them over the year\, but over the last 20 years\, it has evolved into a richer experience for everyone. \n\n\n\nEnjoy Christmas attractions and start your holiday shopping\, including Christmas activities for children\, switch-on of the Christmas lights by the Mayor of Wantage\, Christmas Carols with Wantage Silver Band and the Parish Church Choir\, holiday shopping\, and more. \n\n\n\nExpect a night of fun. \n\n\n\nIn the last few years\, they’ve had various charity and commercial stalls\, community groups featuring their work\, local artists and performers featuring their seasonal programme\, Christmas activities for children (Father Christmas arriving at his Grotto on a sleigh drawn by a magical sparkly pony\, real reindeer\, donkeys from the Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary\, switch on of the Christmas Lights by the Mayor of Wantage and local radio presenter\, Christmas Carols with Wantage Silver Band and the Parish Church Choir)\, Icknield Way Morris Men and folk band Greengage. There has also been a fun fair on the night. \n\n\n\nEveryone is invited to dress up in period costumes for this Christmas festival. Dress up in Victorian costume if you possibly can – makes it even more fun! You can visit a fancy dress shop\, but many people prefer to make their own costumes from clothes bought from charity shops mixed with old stuff from the back of the wardrobe. \n\n\n\nExpect road closures from 4.00pm to around 11.00pm. It also provides an opportunity to meet some of your local farmers and growers. \n\n\n\nThe market is operated by Cherwell District Council. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGood to know\n\n\n\nThe farmer’s market is held on the same site as the Banbury Charter Market. \n\n\n\nThe Charter Market has been trading for several centuries since the town was established back in the 17th Century. Today it hosts approximately 30 stalls offering a range of products\, including fruit and vegetables\, clothing\, footwear\, tools\, cards and garden plants. \n\n\n\nThe Royal Charter Market\, also operated by Cherwell District Council\, runs on Thursdays and Saturdays. There are additional antiques’ stalls on the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
