Over a decade in the tower and still he held power. The Huguenots\, America\, The Armada\, and execution. Is that the whole story? The final chapter of Raleigh’s life is perhaps the most daring\, strange\, and utterly heartbreaking. \n\n\n\nSee the fall from grace taken directly from the historical record\, marvel at the magnetism of a man who seized every opportunity to create a legacy which spans the centuries\, and at every wrenching\, exalting\, and personal moment\, you will be witnesses. \n\n\n\nWritten and performed by Andrew Margerison (A Christmas Carol\, Frantic Assembly’s Fatherland\, Macbeth)\, and directed by Rebecca Vaughan (A Christmas Carol). \n\n\n\nCreated in collaboration with The Old Town Hall\, Hemel Hempstead. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\nhttps://www.themillartscentre.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/that_knave_raleigh_trailer-1080p.mp4?_=1\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“If you haven’t seen Dyad Productions’ work before\, you simply must.”  \n\n\n\nBritish Theatre Guide \n\n\n\n\n\nTHREE WEEKS Cumulative Body of Work Award-Winners\, 2018 \n\n\n\n\n\n“Beautifully performed… entrancing.” ★★★★★ \n\n\n\nBritish Theatre Guide \n\n\n\n\n\n“Richly re-imagined\, exquisitely evocative.” ★★★★★ \n\n\n\nEdinburgh Guide \n\n\n\n\n\n“A towering performance…assured…rich.” ★★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Scotsman \n\n\n\n\n\n“Outstanding… gripping… never less than magnetic.” ★★★★★  \n\n\n\nThree Weeks \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £18.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 09 October 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Mill Arts Centre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Mill Arts Centre is the cultural hub for Banbury and the surrounding area. \n\n\n\nAs the only dedicated arts provision in the area\, it aims to inspire creativity and enrich the lives of the communities by providing a high-quality\, varied artistic\, educational and participatory programme. \n\n\n\nIt plays a significant role in the town’s cultural\, social and economic development by offering the community the chance to engage with and be entertained by several art forms. \n\n\n\nThe Mill Arts Centre offers an exciting live events programme\, including theatre\, dance\, music\, comedy\, film\, workshops and classes. SUMMARY:The Ancient Oak of Baldor
DESCRIPTION:The Ancient Oak of Baldor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Ancient Oak of Baldor\n\n\n\nA folk tale of love\, loss\, and the interconnectedness of all things.  \n\n\n\nThe Ancient Oak stands strong in the Forest of Baldor\, in the land of Earten.  There it has stood for millennia\, rooted deeply to both the land and people of the forest. On this day\, at the cusp of winter\, the people of Baldor are celebrating The Great Cracking of the Ancient Oak.  \n\n\n\nElspeth hoped this was the day that Lars would return.  But when he doesn’t she is taken on an unexpected journey. One that she will never forget.   \n\n\n\nFrozen Light welcomes you into their latest fantasy realm\, where we discover that what truly nourishes us through the long nights is our capacity for love in all its different forms.  \n\n\n\nA multi-sensory experience for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their companions\, offering the chance to gather and experience the collective power of shared stories.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the visual story\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£10.00 (adult + up to 2 carers) \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nTuesday 07 and Wednesday 08 October 2025 at 11.00am and 1.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n13+ \n\n\n\nHow to book: \n\n\n\nTickets cost £10.00\, which is inclusive of one audience member with PMLD and up to two carers. \n\n\n\nPlease fill out this booking form if you would like to book tickets. SUMMARY:Abingdon Michaelmas Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Abingdon Michaelmas Fair 2024\n\n\n\nAbingdon Michaelmas Fair takes place annually on the Monday and Tuesday falling first before the 11 October from noon to 11.00pm on both days. This will fall on Monday 06 and Tuesday 07 October 2025. \n\n\n\nThe Michaelmas Fair is the longest street fair in Europe\, running from Market Place\, through the High Street\, The Square and the entire length of Ock Street. \n\n\n\nThis historic street fair has its origins in the shortage of labour following the Black Death of 1348/9. The Fair was a hiring fair\, the equivalent of today’s employment agencies and online job websites. \n\n\n\nThe Michaelmas Fair starts setting up on Sunday\, after which there are road closures and diversions to enable the traditional street fair to take place. There are also closures and diversions the following week for the Runaway Fair. \n\n\n\nAs with previouse years\, to mark the start of the Fairs\, we expect the Town Council will be organising the traditional Fairground Service of Blessing and Dedication to take place at 7.00pm on Sunday 05 October 2025 on the Galloping Horses in the Market Place. \n\n\n\nAll are very welcome. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

DESCRIPTION:Geoff Norcott: Basic Bloke 2 – There’s No Bloke\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Geoff Norcott: Basic Bloke 2 – There’s No Bloke\n\n\n\nNew national tour 2025-2026 for star of Have I Got News For You\, The Last Leg\, Would I Lie to You?\, Live At The Apollo\, 8 Out of 10 Cats\, Backstage With Katherine Ryan\, The Mash Report\, The News Quiz\, Geoff Norcott’s Working Men’s Club and many more! \n\n\n\nBasic Bloke 2 – is Geoff’s first tour under a Labour government\, so he’s got plenty to get off his chest! \n\n\n\nGeoff’s also taking advantage of the rediscovered tolerance towards jokes being jokes to tell you what he really thinks. How much he judges people. Bad parents\, people who eat too much\, anyone who wears a dressing gown beyond 9.00am…it’s fair to say the gloves are off. \n\n\n\nUnlike most sequels\, Basic Bloke 2 will move beyond some of the themes of the original (while fully aware that a comedian doing a ‘sequel’ at all is a bit ridiculous). He’s been moving in male mental health circles for a while now\, but while they’re all saying blokes should ‘check in’ on each other\, he’s wondering what happens if you do ‘check in’ all the time but they mainly want to send you politically incorrect memes. \n\n\n\nPresented by Live Nation in association with Sophie Chapman Talent. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“He’s a class act with a mature\, sharp take on modern politics.” \n\n\n\nSunday Times \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£20.50 \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 05 October 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n16+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Theatre Chipping Norton\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Theatre Chipping Norton\, sometimes called The Theatre\, Chipping Norton or Chipping Norton Theatre\, is a theatre\, an arthouse cinema\, a gallery and a concert hall in Chipping Norton. \n\n\n\nThe theatre has has 217 seats\, including stalls and a balcony. It is a resource for the community\, and it is also a professional venue\, welcoming over 55\,000 customer visits every year. \n\n\n\nIt is something unique\, but it is also different things to different people. It is the cause and subject of many arguments and debates; and a fair amount of acclaim and affection. It is complicated and a little eccentric. \n\n\n\nIt is not a little theatre. Released in 1985\, it was a hit both here and in the States\, and has now been certified double Platinum. It was on this album\, the band’s sixth\, that arguably they nailed down the sound and the style that made them one of the biggest groups in the world. \n\n\n\nOn this album\, they refined the funky pop fusion that had grown from their jazz roots – and had already brought them serious success – and truly made it their own. ‘World Machine’ features the singles Something About You (the band’s only American top 10 hit) and Leaving Me Now\, and it showed the band’s progression in style and confidence that would lead to their massive Running In The Family album the following year. \n\n\n\nLEVEL 42 – World Machine 40th Anniversary Tour\n\n\n\nMark King said\, “I am so excited to be able to announce The ‘World Machine’ 40th Anniversary Tour for 2025. So\, I am looking forward to seeing you all out there next Autumn when we can romp through all those songs again together. Love to all\, Mark X”. \n\n\n\nFour decades on from the release of‘ World Machine’\, Level 42 are still in demand the world over. SUMMARY:Author Talk: ‘A Jericho Scrapbook’ with Mark Davies - Jericho 200
DESCRIPTION:Author Talk: ‘A Jericho Scrapbook’ with Mark Davies – Jericho 200\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Author Talk: ‘A Jericho Scrapbook’ with Mark Davies – Jericho 200\n\n\n\nThis special event marks the publication of A Jericho Scrapbook: Inside an Oxford Community Saved from Destruction\, originally compiled in 1955 by Constance Hawtrey and published this year with comprehensive notes and appendices by local historian Mark Davies\, as part of the Jericho 200 celebrations. \n\n\n\nFeaturing an astonishingly wide range of reminiscences\, photographs\, sketches\, and ephemera (and even the odd ghost story!) about this sometimes controversial Oxford suburb\, Constance Hawtrey’s A Jericho Scrapbook is now complemented by Mark Davies’ new appraisals of the origins of Jericho\, of the ironworks which became a mainstay of the area\, and of Miss Hawtrey’s own life\, including her time as an early student of St Hilda’s College. \n\n\n\nIn this talk\, Mark will highlight key moments in Jericho’s early history\, from before the University’s purchase of land for its Printing Press in 1825 and the establishment of the future Lucy’s ironworks the same year. \n\n\n\nIt was also in 1825 that the first streets of houses began to replace lush meadowland running down to the Oxford Canal. Jericho’s subsequent unsavoury reputation contrasts with its embrace of cultural icons such as the Pre-Raphaelites\, Thomas Hardy\, Inspector Morse\, Philip Pullman\, and Alice in Wonderland. \n\n\n\nJoin this talk for a journey through Jericho’s inspiring history and discover a unique perspective on Oxford’s ‘dangerously hospitable’ 200-year-old suburb. \n\n\n\nSigned copies of A Jericho Scrapbook: Inside an Oxford Community Saved from Destruction will be available for purchase in the MOX Shop at an exclusive discounted price. \n\n\n\nFurther information \n\n\n\nMark Davies is an Oxford local historian\, public speaker\, and guide. His publications include the social and cultural importance of the city’s waterways (A Towpath Walk in Oxford; Alice in Waterland; Alice’s Oxford on Foot; What a Liberty!)\, historical crime (Stories of Oxford Castle; The Abingdon Waterturnpike Murder)\, and a biography of the first English hot-air balloonist\, James Sadler (King of All Balloons). \n\n\n\nHe is a trustee of the Lewis Carroll Society\, a member of the Society of Authors\, Chair of the Jericho Living Heritage Trust (to which all proceeds of the sale of A Jericho Scrapbook will be donated)\, and on the committee of the Alliance of Literary Societies. \n\n\n\nMeeting point \n\n\n\nThere is step-free\, level entry access to the Town Hall via the entrance closest to Carfax Tower (to the left of the main steps as you face the Town Hall). Inside the Museum\, Museum Makers is accessible via a platform lift to the Galleries and then a lift to the basement. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £5.00 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a non-refundable transaction fee of £1.96 and are available to purchase online or at the Museum shop. \n\n\n\nSales from tickets help support MOX’s work to deliver fun and accessible family activities\, community engagement projects\, schools workshops\, exhibitions and special events for Oxford’s people in our Museum spaces. \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 04 October 2025 at 11.00am \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n1 hour \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPlease be aware that photographs will be taken at this event for use in marketing. If you (or a member of your group) would prefer not to be photographed\, please let a member of staff know during the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Museum of Oxford\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nThe Museum of Oxford is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of Oxford and its people. SUMMARY:The Dung Beatles: 60th Anniversary of 'Help!' And 'Rubber Soul'
DESCRIPTION:The Dung Beatles: 60th Anniversary of ‘Help!’ And ‘Rubber Soul’\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Dung Beatles: 60th Anniversary of ‘Help!’ And ‘Rubber Soul’\n\n\n\nThe Dung Beatles are regarded as one of the best Beatles bands in the UK and indeed the world. Formed in Aylesbury in 2013 the band has created a big fanbase\, having played extensively in the UK and France. \n\n\n\nThe band played their first Friars gig at the Waterside in March 2018\, playing a set as part of the Earthly Messenger Bowie Statue unveiling concert. A year later in Friars Aylesbury’s 50th Anniversary year\, they headlined the Waterside playing the Abbey Road album in its entirety. \n\n\n\nIn 2022 Friars presented the band at two special sold-out Ukraine benefit concerts in St Mary’s Church\, Aylesbury which raised over £20\,000 for the DEC Ukraine appeal. The Dung Beatles have also played the Beatles spiritual home\, the iconic Cavern in Liverpool\, on two occasions. \n\n\n\nThe Dung Beatles: 60th Anniversary of ‘Help!’ And ‘Rubber Soul’\n\n\n\nThe band is Steve Hillier (guitars/vocals)\, Phil Toler (bass/harmonica/vocals)\, Danny Prendergast (guitars/vocals)\, Mike Ashton (drums/vocals) and Martin Kent (keyboards/vocals). Their joyous live performances\, which feature superb harmonies and attention to musical detail (without any use of backing tracks or programming)\, are the hallmarks of their success. \n\n\n\nThe Beatles Help! album was released in the UK on 6 August 1965 and their Rubber Soul album was released just 4 months later on 3 December 1965. Rubber Soul\, with hits such as In My Life\, Norwegian Wood\, Drive My Car\, Michelle\, and Nowhere Man is regarded by many Beatles fans to be their finest album. \n\n\n\nThe Help album with hits such as Ticket to Ride\, You’ve Got to Hide Yourself Away\, I’ve Just Seen a Face\, Yesterday\, and Help! was part of the soundtrack of the sixties not only in the UK but all around the world. It’s a testament to John\, Paul\, George\, and Ringo that they could write and record two such classic albums in just a few months. They were at the height of their creative powers which established them as the world’s most iconic band of the twentieth century. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £18.70 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nFriday 03 October 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
