SUMMARY:James Rowland: Piece of Work
DESCRIPTION:James Rowland: Piece of Work\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout James Rowland: Piece of Work\n\n\n\nJames has been touring his storytelling theatre shows for half his adult life. This year was different though. Returning home after his first stint away\, he received a letter that exploded his life\, and the tour became a search: for the person who sent it\, for a sense of home\, and to maybe save a life. \n\n\n\nFeaturing James’ captivating mix of storytelling\, comedy\, and music (as well as Shakespeare’s Hamlet) this remarkable road trip follows his critically acclaimed run at 2023’s Edinburgh Festival\, the sell-out show Learning to Fly\, and The Songs of Friendship Trilogy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£5.00 – £25.00 through the Pick A Price scheme \n\n\n\nAll prices include any booking fees \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 16 October 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nThe Theatre \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n14+ \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nWe at The Theatre Chipping Norton believe passionately that art is for everyone. It is a resource for the community\, and it is also a professional venue\, welcoming over 55\,000 customer visits every year. \n\n\n\nIt is something unique\, but it is also different things to different people. SUMMARY:Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas Fair 2025 will take place from Wednesday 15 to Saturday 18 October 2025. The fair will open from 3.00pm to 11.00pm on Wednesday\, Thursday\, and Friday\, and from noon to 9.00pm on the Sunday. \n\n\n\nThe Banbury Michaelmas fair has been a fixture of the life of the town for hundreds of years. The annual attraction will run as a four day event this year\, thanks to a one year trial being agreed with the council following a request from the funfair organisers. \n\n\n\nThe fair was a hiring fair\, the equivalent of today’s employment agencies and online job websites. During what used to be known as the Mop Fair\, local tradesmen\, craftsmen\, labourers\, farmers and servants came into town to look for new employment. \n\n\n\nBack in those days\, seasonal employment ran from October to October\, so everyone came into town with high hopes of gaining a new employer and securing their income for the year ahead. \n\n\n\nIn keeping with a tradition that dates back centuries\, the Town Mayor will join the Chairman of Cherwell District Council to open proceedings in front of the Town Hall. He\, or she\, will touch a ‘Golden Key’ against certain attractions to grant free rides for attending children.

SUMMARY:Abingdon Runaway Fair 2025
DESCRIPTION:About Abingdon Runaway Fair 2025\n\n\n\nThe fair for “runaways” who wanted a different master \n\n\n\nThe Abingdon Runaway Fair is a smaller funfair that takes place on the Monday\, one week after the Abingdon Michaelmas Fair in October. \n\n\n\nThe origin of the fair lies in the tradition of championing the rights of the common man. This hiring fair was held specifically so that farmworkers and others who had been hired at the earlier Michaelmas Fair and had found their new master cruel or the conditions intolerable could quite literally “run away”\, i.e. return back to the town for another try at finding suitable paid work before the winter set in. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

SUMMARY:Rick Wakeman - Six Wives + King Arthur
DESCRIPTION:Rick Wakeman -Six Wives + King Arthur\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Rick Wakeman – Six Wives + King Arthur\n\n\n\nIn February 2023\, Rick Wakeman CBE and the English Rock Ensemble performed three classic works from his prog rock back catalogue over two nights in what have since become legendary sell-out concerts at the London Palladium. \n\n\n\nThe response from fans and critics alike was so enthusiastic that Rick subsequently decided to take the band on the road for a UK tour\, The Return Of The Caped Crusader\, the following year\, comprising of the programme from the second night’s concert Journey To The Centre Of The Earth\, combined with a medley of YES hits. \n\n\n\nRick Wakeman -Six Wives + King Arthur\n\n\n\nAgain\, the response was rapturous with standing ovations at every show\, but it left fans demanding: what about a repeat performance of the programme from the first night at the Palladium? That wish will be granted in October 2025\, when Rick and the English Rock Ensemble will take to the road again\, this time performing The Six Wives Of Henry VIII and The Myths And Legends Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table. \n\n\n\nThe musical line-up will be the same as on the first tour\, with Rick\, of course\, leading the band on keyboards\, brilliantly supported by Dave Colquhoun (guitars and backing vocals)\, Adam Falkner (drums)\, Lee Pomeroy (bass and backing vocals) and Adam Wakeman (keyboard\, guitars and backing vocals). Mollie Marriott will again be lead vocalist\, with three yet-to-be-announced backing singers. \n\n\n\nRick comments\, “For me\, historical events\, myths and legends\, and great stories\, should never have a date stamped on them\, as they will be talked about for centuries to come. Henry’s wives and King Arthur are great examples of ‘here forever’. \n\n\n\n“Writing music for all these fascinating people was magical and thoroughly enjoyable in every aspect\, and so to still be playing both of these suites of music at the age of 76 is also another remarkable milestone in my life. \n\n\n\n“With a stunning array of musicianship surrounding me\, I only wish I could be in the audience watching and listening\, so all those sitting out there will have to do it for me!” \n\n\n\nDon’t miss this unlikely-to-be-repeated opportunity to hear two classic epics by one of the true legends of progressive rock\, Rick Wakeman\, and his band of superb musicians when they tour the UK. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTickets prices: \n\n\n\nFrom £52.08 \n\n\n\nTickets are subject to a transaction fee of £3.95 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 12 October 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nMain auditorium \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Aylesbury Waterside Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAylesbury Waterside Theatre is a stunning modern venue at the heart of Buckinghamshire’s cultural scene. \n\n\n\nOpened in 2010\, its striking wooden interior takes inspiration from the rolling Chiltern Hills\, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. SUMMARY:The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican: The Winter Woollies Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican: The Winter Woollies Tour \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican: The Winter Woollies Tour\n\n\n\nFounded in Barnsley Rock City in 2006 by their outspoken and energetic ringleader\, Scott Doonican\, The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican are on a mission! \n\n\n\nFar from being your typical folk ensemble\, this cult-like collective of like-minded knit-wear enthusiasts are determined to follow in their spiritual father’s immortal footsteps and keep his legacy alive. \n\n\n\nScott and his brothers-from-other-mothers\, Alan\, J.R.\, and Mo-Jo\, have quite the talent for Bar-Stewardizing other famous people’s songs with new satirical comedy lyrics\, on folk instruments\, and to complete their outrageously understated image\, the Doonicans have become instantly recognisable for their immaculate hair and their stylish choice of sexy knitwear\, and instantly memorable for their lairy\, no-holds-barred\, anarchic live shows. \n\n\n\nA group that is both perpetually on the move\, ever-evolving\, and joyously independent\, they have played close to 1300 side-splitting shows to date\, and have brought smiles and belly laughs to audiences across the UK; from Barnsley to Barnstaple\, from Glastonbury to Glasgow. \n\n\n\nThey continue to wow audiences with a fine selection of their greatest hits\, including the likes of ‘Jump Ararnd\,’ ‘The Lady In Greggs\,’ ‘How Deep Is Your Glove?’ ‘Paint ’em Back\,’ ‘Goat Yoga\,’ and ‘If I Could Punch A Face… It’d Be Justin Bieber’s.’ \n\n\n\nThey have written and recorded eleven studio albums\, independently released over 40 live recordings\, successfully crowd-funded nine separate independent vinyl releases\, played on top of mountains\, wowed-festival goers across the length and breadth of the UK\, had six different beers brewed and named in their honour by four different breweries (one of which\, ‘Doonicans’ is an award winning part of the brewery’s core range of ales). \n\n\n\nThey have sold outaward-winnin six consecutive shows on a Mississippi paddle-steamer on the Norfolk Broads in less than 20 seconds\, hosted their own sell-out music and comedy festivals\, written & performed in their musical\, are featured in the Experience Barnsley Museum Music Archives\, hold the bar-takings record for at least ten theatres\, and have been the recipients of six different individual awards as voted for by the public in the Barnsley Music Awards. \n\n\n\nThey played the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury Festival\, and to 20\,000 people at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention (twice!). They even scaled the dizzy heights of a #1 and a #2 single and a #2 album on the iTunes Comedy Charts (plus a National chart position in the Top 100)! That’s not too shabby for a daft little unsigned comedy folk band from Barnsley\, who manage themselves\, eh? \n\n\n\nThe Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican can’t wait to bring their shindig (and their new line-up) to the Mill Arts Centre\, and they promise they will rock you… but gently! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“The greatest thing to come out of Barnsley\, since the A61 to Sheffield.” \n\n\n\nJarvis Cocker\, Pulp \n\n\n\n\n\n“Always enjoy the boys from The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican. When the North goes independent I am suggesting ‘ Too Good To Be Jus’ is our national anthem. Great fun.” \n\n\n\nJason Manford\, comedian \n\n\n\n\n\n“The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican are very\, very funny… parodists extraordinaire. One of the hardest working and best live acts on the planet. Bringing light to dark corners and joy to babes and toothless mumblers alike. Lovely stuff.” \n\n\n\nMike Harding\, comedian\, folk musician\, author & broadcaster \n\n\n\n\n\n“An act that you will wanna go and see over and over again. Absolutely hilarious.” \n\n\n\nDave Pegg\, Fairport Convention \n\n\n\n\n\n”The 8th wonder of the world is actually in Yorkshire… a wonderful Yorkshire genius collective known as The Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican.
