SUMMARY:Remembrances of War: Paul Joyce Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Remembrances of War \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Remembrances of War: Paul Joyce Exhibition\n\n\n\nThe Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum presents Remembrances of War\, an evocative exhibition of paintings by artist Paul Joyce. \n\n\n\nBorn in 1940 under the shadow of the Second World War\, Joyce draws on personal childhood memories of bomb-scarred London as well as the wider cultural memory of a world devastated by conflict. \n\n\n\nBile of Beans\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe collection juxtaposes scenes of smouldering rubble in South London with imagined depictions of Hiroshima and the destruction across Europe. \n\n\n\nEveryday objects such as Bovril and baked beans appear alongside military aircraft and apocalyptic landscapes\, reflecting the absurd collision of the ordinary and the catastrophic during wartime. \n\n\n\nDown!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInfluenced by artists such as Paul Nash and Eric Ravilious\, Joyce’s works combine pastoral scenes with striking\, militarised elements. Devoid of human figures\, the paintings instead speak through objects\, buildings\, and machines—haunting reminders of the people whose lives were shaped by war. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition is enriched by artefacts from the museum’s collection\, offering further insight into how ordinary people endured and adapted to extraordinary times. Visitors of all ages are welcome\, with interactive features including a reconstructed 1940s bedroom and creative activities for children. \n\n\n\nBattle of Britain\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEntry to Remembrances of War also includes access to the museum’s wider galleries\, from immersive First and Second World War experiences to the temporary exhibition Life Lines\, which explores the liberation of Bergen-Belsen through community art projects centred on acts of kindness. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices (with Gift Aid): \n\n\n\n\nAdults – £8.00\n\n\n\nConcessions (Armed Forces\, Over 60s\, Students) – £7.00\n\n\n\nChildren (5-16) – £4.50\n\n\n\nFamily tickets and group offers also available.\n\n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 13 September to Tuesday 18 November 2025 \n\n\n\nTuesday to Saturday from 11.00am to 5.00pm \n\n\n\nSunday from 2.00pm to 5.00pm \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nPhone and email for general enquiries & event tickets – 01993 810 211\, frontofhouse@sofo.org.uk

SUMMARY:King 810: Welcome to the Rustbelt
DESCRIPTION:King 810: Welcome to the Rustbelt\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout King 810: Welcome to the Rustbelt\n\n\n\nFlint\, Michigan – a huge part of America’s industrial rustbelt history\, home to infamous trailblazers King 810\, and the inspiration behind the band’s latest single and title track ‘Rustbelt Nu Metal‘\, out now. \n\n\n\nRecorded live on the spring equinox in one day in front of a live studio audience of 50 people\, the music video flashes images of the harrowing reality of life on the streets of Flint; contaminated drinking water\, gun fights\, knife crime\, unsafe sex work\, and drug dependency\, all topped off with vocalist and creative visionary David Gunn‘s signature snarls and fervent venom. \n\n\n\nTaken from their next upcoming album Rustbelt Nu Metal\, which is slated for a June 2025 release\, the band shared\, “RBNM was recorded live on the spring equinox 3/23 in one day in front of a studio audience of 50. There are no samples\, keyboards\, synthesisers\, or click tracks/metronomes used in the recording. Give this many listens and many views and we will reconvene with our collective thoughts on the matter. Very truly yours\, King 810.” \n\n\n\nCreatively on fire and inspired by this way of recording\, the band intends to record a second album in this series in June on the summer solstice and a third\, again in the same fashion\, on the autumn equinox. \n\n\n\nStream the track here. \n\n\n\nPre-order the album here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£22.75   \n\n\n\nHandling fees will be added to each order up to £3.25 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nThursday 11 September 2025 at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n\nNo under 8s.\n\n\n\nUnder 14s to be accompanied at all times by an adult over 18.\n\n\n\nUnder 25s require ID to purchase alcohol.\n\n\n\n\nLocation: \n\n\n\nO2 Academy2 \n\n\n\nSecurity – bag policy: \n\n\n\nLarge bags including rucksacks are not allowed.
