SUMMARY:Call and Response
DESCRIPTION:Call and Response\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Call and Response\n\n\n\nCall and Response brings together two Oxford-based arts organisations dedicated to fostering connection\, skill-sharing\, and professional development. Artists from the Warehouse Art School and Art-Sauce present an exhibition in two parts to exchange ideas and creative practice.  \n\n\n\nPart one (02 – 12 July) presents the culmination of a year of enquiry\, experimentation\, and personal growth by eight artists from the Warehouse Art School Continuing Creative Practice course.  \n\n\n\nPart two (17 July – 09 August) furthers the conversation with artists from Art-Sauce\, who have engaged in a collaborative process to draw direct inspiration from each other to encompass the theme of Call and Response.  \n\n\n\nThe exhibition takes its name from the principle of dialogue—between artists and their peers\, between organizations that share a commitment to artistic growth\, and between the work and its audience. Just as call and response is a form of exchange\, this exhibition invites the public into a wider conversation: to engage and bring their own perspectives into the creative process.   \n\n\n\nDrawing inspiration from supportive communities of practice\, Call and Response invites dialogue—between individuals\, disciplines\, and experiences—to enrich and sustain creative development.  \n\n\n\nSpecial Events \n\n\n\nPart One: Warehouse Art School \n\n\n\nOfficial Opening Party: \n\n\n\nWednesday 02 July 6.00pm – 8.00pm \n\n\n\nMeet the Artists\, followed by a performance by the Feisty Choir: \n\n\n\nWednesday 09 July 6.30pm – 8.00pm \n\n\n\nPart Two: art-sauce \n\n\n\nOfficial Opening Party: \n\n\n\nSaturday 19 July 6.00pm – 8.00pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nFree entry. SUMMARY:After All
DESCRIPTION:After All\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout After All\n\n\n\nTo conjure a better sort of space\, for all of us – to be with death\, dying\, and loss.  \n\n\n\nCreated by Dundee-based French contemporary dance and performance artist Solène Weinachter\, After All is an Edinburgh Festival Fringe sell-out dance-theatre show that celebrates the intricacies of humanity’s vulnerable and courageous existence\, encouraging us to feel these essential emotions to their fullest. \n\n\n\nSkillfully comedic and emotionally introspective\, After All explores the death rituals we have\, the ones we’ve lost\, and the ones that need inventing. Although death comes to everyone\, talking about it is often a taboo that results in people holding their grief in isolation – something Solène aims to recast and remould through a fresh outlook on the human experience.  \n\n\n\nThrough a series of hilarious\, impassioned re-enactments of the funerals of those she’s loved – as well as imagining her own – Solène attempts to conjure a better sort of space\, for all of us\, to be with death\, dying and loss; bringing us together to explore the role that dancing may play in healing.  \n\n\n\nEnmeshing dance\, theatre\, storytelling\, and comedy\, Solène asks us how we truly feel about our shared eventuality\, what happens at the end of it all\, and if the ‘end’ really exists at all?  \n\n\n\nAfter All is a Dance-Theatre solo. The show contains a strong narrative told through speech\, movement\, and comedy. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the trailer\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch a behind-the-scenes interview with Solène Weinachter\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReviews\n\n\n\n\n“Bursting with vitality.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Times  \n\n\n\n\n\n“Weinachter hits the spot every time.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Scotsman  \n\n\n\n\n\n“Confidently warm and funny.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Guardian  \n\n\n\n\n\n“A triumph of sound and vision.” ★★★★ \n\n\n\nThe Observer  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\nGeneral – £18.00 \n\n\n\nMembers – £15.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nMonday 30 June 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nAge guidance: \n\n\n\n12+ \n\n\n\nContent guidance: \n\n\n\nThis show contains themes of death\, dying\, and loss. \n\n\n\nGood to know: \n\n\n\nAfter the show\, there will be a Q&A in our Gallery space with Solène Weinachter\, hosted by The Mill’s Creative Director Emma Hiorns. SUMMARY:Coleridge-Taylor Hiawatha's Wedding Feast
DESCRIPTION:Coleridge-Taylor Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Coleridge-Taylor Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast\n\n\n\nSamuel Coleridge-Taylor was one of the very few Black classical composers to achieve large-scale renown! His most popular work by far\, Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast\, owes its success to its rhythmic vitality\, at times sounding like a pre-echo of the American music that would soon emerge in the early 20th century. \n\n\n\nContrasting this is the ethereal fluidity of two of Vaughan Williams’ loveliest works. His 1906 setting of Walt Whitman’s poem Toward the Unknown Region is a hidden gem with two very imposing climaxes\, while the famous The Lark Ascending is timeless. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£15.00 – £30.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSunday 29 June 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 6.30pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Sheldonian Theatre\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nHome to ceremonial occasions and a raft of exciting events\, the magnificent and versatile Sheldonian Theatre is the focal point of the University of Oxford and is a unique space to experience live music. \n\n\n\nTo see an interactive map of the theatre\, click here. \n\n\n\nFind out more about the Sheldonian Theatre\, including facilities\, access and venue information.

DESCRIPTION:Haydn’s Nelson Mass\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Haydn’s Nelson Mass\n\n\n\nThe City of Oxford Choir\, in collaboration with Instruments of Time and Truth\, invites you to experience the rich choral soundworlds of Haydn\, Mozart\, and Beethoven as we celebrate 20 years under the direction of our Musical Director\, Duncan Aspden. \n\n\n\nHaydn’s Nelson Mass\, also known as the Mass in Troubled Times\, was written during immense geopolitical uncertainty\, with Napoleon threatening Austrian sovereignty at a time of economic upheaval for the nation. The resulting work is often described as the composer’s greatest composition\, exuding triumphant jubilation amidst dramatic\, darker passages. \n\n\n\nHaydn’s masterpiece will be accompanied by Mozart’s energetic settings of the Solemn Vespers\, his final piece written for Salzburg Cathedral\, with each movement expertly dancing around the musical demands of his conservative employer. Our programme is supported by two smaller works: Regina Coeli\, another Mozart work\, and Beethoven’s more contemplative Elegische Gesang. \n\n\n\nSoloists: Charlotte Bowden\, Bethany Horak-Hallett\, Thomas Elwin\, and Edward Grint. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease see important booking information below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBooking information\n\n\n\nTicket prices: \n\n\n\n£15.00 – £35.00 \n\n\n\nDates & times: \n\n\n\nSaturday 28 June 2025 at 7.30pm \n\n\n\nDoors open at 7.00pm \n\n\n\nRunning time: \n\n\n\n2 hours\, including an interval \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout SJE Arts Oxford\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSJE Arts Oxford is a concert venue and arts organisation based at St John the Evangelist Church on Iffley Road\, Oxford. \n\n\n\nThe church itself was built in the 19th century as part of a monastery established by the Cowley Fathers\, an Anglican religious community.
